Abstract

Introduction: Problems that arise during post-cesarean section procedures due to incisions caused by tearing of the abdominal wall tissue and uterine wall can cause changes in continuity so that the mother feels pain due to the surgery. Objective: This study analyzes the impact of the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) therapy on managing post-cesarean section pain in a patient at Jemursari Islamic Hospital, Surabaya. Methods: The research employed a case study design focusing on a single patient, Mrs. M, with acute post-operative pain. Data collection methods included assessment, observation, anamnesis, and interviews. The EFT intervention was administered once daily for three consecutive days, with each session lasting 30 minutes. Results: The results indicated a reduction in pain intensity from a score of 4 to 2 on the pain scale. Conclusions: While these findings suggest that EFT may be an effective non-pharmacological pain management tool, the study’s limitations—including the small sample size and absence of a control group—necessitate further research with larger, controlled trials to validate these results.

Abstract

Background: Non-hemorrhagic strokes result in neuromuscular disorders with reduced activity and weakness in joint movement and even disability. This condition receives treatment at the hospital in the form of educational therapy, diet, medication and ROM (active and passive). Purpose: The aim of the research was to determine the effect of Mirror Therapy on extremity muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients based on self-care theory. Methods: Quasi experiment research design with a pretest posttest approach with control group design. The population of all non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with a sample size of 40 people, divided into 2 groups, namely the control group and the intervention group, was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this research include respondent characteristics, MMT (Manual Muscle Testing) observation sheets and Mirror Therapy SOP. Data analysis used the Mann Whitney U-test with a significance value of P value < 0.05. Results: The results of the study showed that the average muscle strength score in the Mirror Therapy intervention group was 1.55 before and after 2.65, while in the control group with standard hospital treatment before 1,40 and after 1.95. The Wilcoxon Test results show P value = 0.000 in the intervention group and P value = 0.000 in the control group, meaning there is an increase in extremity muscle strength in the intervention and control groups. Based on the Mann Whitney test, it shows P value = 0.013, meaning there is no differences in Mirror Therapy on extremity muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. Conclusion: The application of Mirror Therapy affects the level of extremity muscle strength in non-haemorrhagic stroke patients. Nurses are expected to be able to apply Mirror Therapy to apply it in nursing practice.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Independent vaginal examination (SAVARI) is a form of promotive and preventive action aimed at the early detection of disorders in the female reproductive system. Although it plays a vital role, public knowledge and awareness regarding SAVARI remain relatively low. In this context, health cadres serve as key community motivators in delivering health information directly. Therefore, strengthening the capacity of these cadres is essential to enhance the effectiveness of health education, particularly regarding SAVARI. This community service activity was designed to improve the knowledge and skills of health cadres who are part of LASKAR GERTAK KITA through specialized training focused on SAVARI education. The training incorporated participatory learning methods, practical simulations, and focused group discussions. To assess learning outcomes, evaluations were conducted using pre- and post-tests. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of the concept, benefits, and delivery strategies of SAVARI education within the community. With improved cadre competencies, SAVARI counseling is expected to be delivered more effectively, in a manner that is easy to understand and capable of reaching a broader audience of women. This, in turn, is anticipated to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining reproductive health. Furthermore, this program may serve as a model of best practice in the empowerment of health cadres and can be adapted for use in counseling on other health topics. Keywords: Health Cadres, SAVARI, Health Education, Community Empowerment, Early Detection

The purpose of this study to find out the effectiveness of massage in Guanyuan (RN 4) and Qihai (RN 6) acupunture points on dismenore in students of SMKN 1 Surabaya. Study design is Pre Experimental approaches One-group pre-post test design, the population 200 students of Class of XI with the number of respondents 100 who has menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) and willing to become respondents. Using cluster sampling technique. The independent variables is massage in Guanyuan (RN 4) and Qihai (RN 6) acupunture points and the dependent variable is menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). Instrument this study uses questionnaire NRS (Numerical Rating Scale), analysis of data use the Wilcoxon signed rank test with α < 0,05. Study results showed from 100 respondent, most of them The results obtained an average value of the level of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) prior to massage at the acupuncture points guanyuan (RN 4) and qihai (RN 6) which is 5.04. After doing massage at the acupuncture points guanyuan (RN 4) and qihai (RN 6) the average value of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) is 2.07. Wilcoxon signed rank test got P=0,000 < α = 0,05 so, H0 is rejected, means massage in Guanyuan (RN 4) and Qihai (RN 6) acupunture points is effective for decrasing menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) on student of SMKN 1 Surabaya.
