Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of various grafting techniques in rhinoplasty procedures, particularly in relation to aesthetic outcomes and postoperative complications. Utilizing a systematic meta-analytical approach in this research reviewed 22 relevant scientific publications from leading databases, including PubMed and ScienceDirect. The analysis focused on the use of autologous, alloplastic, and acellular dermal grafts, as well as combined techniques such as diced cartilage wrapped in fascia (DC-F). Findings indicate that autologous grafts—particularly septal and auricular cartilage—offer superior structural stability and the highest patient satisfaction, with a low complication rate (<5%). Acellular dermal grafts and DC-F techniques were effective in revision cases, while alloplastic grafts showed a higher complication rate, including extrusion and infection. Spreader graft techniques also demonstrated improvement in postoperative nasal function. The discussion highlights the critical importance of selecting grafting techniques based on the patient’s anatomical condition and individualized needs. Autologous grafts remain the gold standard in primary rhinoplasty, while combination techniques provide effective solutions for complex cases. In conclusion, the success of rhinoplasty strongly depends on choosing the appropriate grafting method, with thorough consideration of aesthetic goals, functional outcomes, and complication risks.

Abstract

This scoping review explores the roles of interleukin 1β, fibroblast growth factor, fibroblasts, keratinocytes, granulation tissue, and collagen density in the wound healing process, focusing on inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling phases. A systematic literature search identified studies investigating molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in wound repair. Findings reveal that fibroblast-derived exosomes carrying miR-93-5p inhibit autophagy, delaying diabetic wound healing. Controlled growth factor delivery enhances angiogenesis, fibroblast proliferation, and collagen deposition, accelerating tissue regeneration. SPRR1B+ keratinocytes facilitate rapid re-epithelialization, while granulation tissue provides essential scaffolding for cell migration and neovascularization. Elevated IL-1β impairs healing by increasing matrix metalloproteinases, degrading collagen. Natural compounds like red fruit oil and Binahong leaf extract promote angiogenesis and collagen synthesis. Genetic variations in inflammatory cytokines influence healing outcomes, indicating potential for personalized therapies. This review consolidates current evidence, providing insights into cellular and molecular interactions critical for effective wound repair and guiding future regenerative medicine strategies.

Abstract

Preauricular fistula is a congenital anomaly that may lead to recurrent infections and abscess formation. Its management typically involves a combination of antibiotic therapy and surgical interventions, such as tract excision or a supra-auricular approach, which have been shown to reduce recurrence rates. However, a standardized clinical consensus regarding the optimal treatment method remains lacking. This systematic review aims to identify the most effective diagnostic and therapeutic strategies based on the latest scientific evidence to assist clinicians in managing these cases optimally. This study employed the Systematic Journal Review (SJR) method to critically appraise the scientific literature concerning the management of preauricular fistulas, both with and without abscess formation. A structured approach following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines was used, with data sourced from reputable databases including PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Articles were selected based on stringent inclusion and exclusion criteria through a stepwise process, from keyword search to full-text appraisal, yielding 27 eligible studies for comprehensive analysis. Findings from this review emphasize the importance of complete fistula tract excision to prevent recurrence, highlighting various surgical techniques such as hidden incisions and local skin flaps that enhance both aesthetic and clinical outcomes. Standardized procedures, including the use of magnification and methylene blue dye, are also considered essential to ensure complete excision. Nevertheless, limitations such as study heterogeneity, small sample sizes, and lack of controlled trials restrict the strength of conclusions and meta-analytic synthesis. Therefore, further research with robust design, larger sample sizes, standardized protocols, and the inclusion of negative findings is necessary to strengthen the evidence base for preauricular fistula management.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the viability and structural stability of L-PRF at 37°C over 14 days. It aims to determine its sustained growth factor release and potential effectiveness in regenerative clinical applications. This research employed a Systematic Journal Review (SJR) approach, surveying articles from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using specific keywords related to L-PRF. A total of 25 articles meeting the inclusion criteria were filtered for analysis. Furthermore, common experimental methods described in the literature include the preparation of L-PRF via blood centrifugation and viability testing over 14 days at 37°C, encompassing analysis of microscopic structure, mechanical properties, and biochemical and biological activities. Literature analysis indicates that L-PRF is an effective autologous biomaterial for regenerative applications, capable of continuously releasing growth factors such as PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and IGF for up to 14 days at body temperature. Cell viability within the fibrin matrix is maintained, positioning L-PRF as a promising active biological scaffold for accelerating tissue healing. Although challenges such as matrix degradation persist, modification strategies and optimized centrifugation protocols can enhance the effectiveness and durability of L-PRF in clinical applications.
