Abstract

The Tabut tradition in Bengkulu is a cultural heritage with strong historical, social, and religious values. This tradition develops in two main groups, namely Kerukunan Keluarga Tabut (KKT) and Kerukunan Tabut Budaya (KETAB). These two groups have differences in the practice and meaning of traditions, so studying from a comparative perspective is interesting. This study aims to analyze the differences and similarities between KKT and KETAB in the implementation of the Tabut Tradition in Bengkulu. This study uses a qualitative method with a comparative study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with KKT and KETAB leaders, direct observation of the implementation of the Tabut Tradition, and related literature studies. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive-analytical techniques to understand the differences and similarities between the two groups. The results of the study show that although KKT emphasizes more religious and ritual aspects in the Tabut Tradition, while KETAB is more oriented towards cultural and tourism aspects, both still play a role in preserving traditions. In addition, it was found that the difference in meaning did not hinder social harmony between the two groups in the implementation of the Ark event every year. The difference in orientation between KKT and KETAB shows the flexibility of the Tabut Tradition in adapting to changing times. Both groups play an important role in preserving this tradition, both in terms of religion.

Abstract

Ecological jurisprudence, as a branch of science that studies the relationship between Islamic law and the environment, highlights the importance of maintaining the balance of nature and environmental sustainability. This article examines the revocation of mining permits in the Raja Ampat region through the perspective of ecological jurisprudence, as part of a religious response to contemporary environmental issues. Raja Ampat, known as an area with the highest marine biodiversity in the world, faces serious threats from mining activities, particularly nickel. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach and normative analysis of fiqh principles such as maslahat (benefit), the prohibition of damage (prohibition of facades on the earth), and the responsibility of humankind as a vicegerent (khalifah) towards nature, this article highlights how Islamic values can serve as an ethical and spiritual basis for preserving the environment. The government's revocation of mining permits is seen as aligned with the principles of ecological jurisprudence, which emphasize ecological justice and the protection of living creatures. This study recommends the integration of religious values into environmental policies as an effort to realize equitable sustainable development.

Abstract

In this article, we as authors would like to discuss a comparative study of the concept of an ideal state according to Ibn Rushd and Al-Farabi, both of whom were Muslim scholars who lived in the Middle Ages, a period when Islam flourished with knowledge ranging from politics, law, philosophy, medicine, architecture, and so on. The purpose of this study is to identify the differences in their formulations regarding how a state can become the best possible framework, whose implementation has a significant impact on the lives of its people. The research method employed in this study is library research. In his previous explanation, Ibn Rushd emphasised three concepts, namely the ideal state, which is the sovereignty of the people (al-siyadah), freedom (al-hurriyah), equality (al-musawah), and diversity (pluralism). These concepts form the basis for a just and prosperous state according to his thinking. Meanwhile, Al-Farabi's concept of the ideal state, called al-Madinah al-Fadhilah, is a state that aims to achieve worldly and eternal happiness for all its citizens. This state is led by a wise philosopher-king who has extensive knowledge and is able to lead society towards moral and spiritual perfection. By introducing the concept of Philosopher-Prophet Leadership (scholars), Happiness, Structured Society, Justice and Prosperity, a Just Economic System, Education and Morality.
