Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using role-play-based hand puppet media on the listening skills of fourth-grade students at SDN 09 Rantau Selatan. The research employed a quantitative experimental method with a one-group design. The population consisted of 25 fourth-grade students, who also served as the research sample. Data were collected using observation sheets. The results revealed a significant difference in students’ listening skills before and after the implementation of role-play-based hand puppet media. Before treatment, most students scored below the minimum mastery criteria (KKM), with the highest percentage (20%) in the 57–59 score range. After treatment, students’ scores increased significantly, ranging from 78 to 98, with the highest percentage (34%) in the 90–92 range. The paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a t-value of 17.744, indicating a significant effect of the use of role-play-based hand puppet media on students’ listening skills. The study concludes that role-play-based hand puppet media is effective in improving students’ listening skills, as it creates engaging, interactive, and enjoyable learning experiences that motivate students to focus and listen attentively.

Abstract

This Research aims to develop and test the effectiveness of the Appsmart learning application, based on the Self-Directed Learning (SDL) model supported by Articulate Storyline, for drama script learning in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. The Research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The Research subjects are fourth-semester students enrolled in a Drama course. The Research instruments include expert validation sheets, user response questionnaires, comprehension tests, writing skill assessment rubrics, observations, and interviews. The Research results show that the Appsmart application received a "Very Feasible" rating from experts and a "Very Practical" rating from users, and demonstrated significant effectiveness in improving students' understanding and script-writing skills. This application also supports students' learning independence in accordance with SDL principles. Thus, Appsmart contributes to providing innovative, effective, interactive, and adaptive learning media for drama script learning in higher education

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of instilling a character of tolerance from an early age in Indonesia's multicultural society, yet the practice of intolerance remains a challenge. Elementary schools, as the foundation for character formation, often still use conventional methods that are less effective in internalizing values. The focus of this research is to analyze the implementation of the storytelling strategy as an alternative approach to instilling a character of tolerance in fourth-grade students at SDN 064958 Medan, a school with a highly diverse student body. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving teachers and students as participants. Data collection was conducted through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, which were then analyzed thematically. The results show that the storytelling strategy was implemented systematically through the selection of stories relevant to the local diversity context of Medan, interactive and creative delivery techniques, and reflective discussions. Key findings revealed positive student responses in the form of high enthusiasm, emotional engagement, and concrete efforts to implement the value of tolerance. It was concluded that storytelling, despite facing time constraints, proved effective as a character learning strategy because it integrated aspects of moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action, and was able to contextualize the value of tolerance with students' realities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of civic disposition through Pancasila Education subjects in improving the democratic attitudes of fourth-grade elementary school students. Civic disposition is an essential component in citizenship education that includes attitudes, values, and characters needed to become good citizens in a democratic system. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted at SDN 101765 Bandar Setia, Bandar District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the initial condition of fourth-grade students' civic disposition was still at a level that needed serious attention, with only 35% of students actively participating in class discussions. The implementation of Pancasila Education learning through group discussions, problem-based learning, and role-playing methods proved effective in developing students' democratic attitudes. The integration of democratic values such as tolerance, responsibility, and deliberation in learning was not only taught as theoretical concepts, but also practiced in the context of students' real lives. Supporting factors for success include teacher commitment, principal support, suitability to students' cognitive developmental stages, and parental involvement. This study emphasizes the importance of participatory and democratic Pancasila education learning in forming the foundation of civic disposition from elementary school age
