Abstract

This study aims to assess the effect of variations of welding current and bead angle of 60o and 80o on the the mechanical properties and the appropriate welding method as a connector for two SS 410 using the SMAW welding method (Shielded Metal Arc Welding). The current variations are 85 A, 90 A, 110 A and groove type with V-angle of 60o and 80o. After the spesimen welding process, the microstructure, vickers, and impact strenght were tested. The results obtained showed that the highest hardness value occured in 110 A currents with 80o angle of motion at 165 VHN in the HAZ region (1) which has ferrite and carbide structure that makes the area hard. The highest value of impact toughness (K) at 60o angle is occured at 85 A current with a value of 1,294 Joule / mm2. The highest value of impact toughness (K) at 80o angel occured at 85 Ampere current with a value of 1,831 Joule / mm2. Using angle of 80o with each current of 110 A and 85 A the optimum hardness and impact properties can be obtainedKeywords :SS 410 Material, Impact, Hardness, SMAWAbstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi arus 85 Ampere (A), 90 Ampere (A), 110 Ampere (A) dan sudut kampuh V sebesar 60o dan 80o terhadap pengujian sifat mekanik serta metode pengelasan yang tepat guna sebagai penyambung dua material SS 410 dengan menggunakan metode las SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding). Variasi arus menggunakan arus sebesar 85 A, 90 A, 110 A dan sudut kampuh V sebesar 60o dan 80o. Setelah proses pengelasan spesimen selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian struktur mikro, kekerasan (vickers), dan ketanguhan impact. Hasil penelitian yang didapat menunjukkan nilai kekerasan tertinggi terjadi pada arus 110 A dengan sudut kampuh 80o sebesar 165 VHN pada daerah HAZ (1) yang memiliki struktur ferrit dan karbida yang membuat daerah tersebut menjadi keras. Nilai tertinggi ketangguhan impact (K) pada sudut kampuh 60o terjadi pada kuat arus 85 A dengan nilai sebesar 1,294 Joule/mm2. Nilai tertinggi ketangguhan impact (K) pada sudut kampuh 80o terjadi pada kuat arus 85 A dengan nilai sebesar 1,831 Joule/mm2. Untuk mendapatkan nilai kekerasan dan hasil ketangguhan impact yang baik yaitu menggunakan sudut kampuh 80o dengan masing - masing arus sebesar 110 A dan 85 A. Kata kunci :Baja SS 410, Impact, Kekerasan, SMAW

Abstract

Manufacturers are pushed to use superalloys such as titanium alloys in the aerospace part due to environmental and economic issues. The refractory properties of titanium alloys result in rapid and premature wear of the cutting tools, especially by thermal diffusion. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to focus on understanding the characterization of TiAl6V4 in thermo-physic properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), electrical resistivity against temperature test, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were conducted to analyze the relationship of phase transformation to thermal properties. Phase analysis showed that TiAl6V4 is composed of two-phase a and b creating a duplex microstructure in which the surface fraction contains about 92,5 % and 7,5 %, respectively. Electrical resistivity against temperature test demonstrated the phase transformation of a to b occurred at 1017°C. This study revealed that the phenomena of phase transformation affected the thermal properties, i.e., thermal capacity, thermal diffusivity, and coefficient of thermal expansion.

Abstract

The amount of rubber seed waste in Indonesia is highly yielded as a side product from a large amount of rubber trees plantation. The rubber seed was not processed become the usefull application yet,  thus it becomes a high volume of waste in each year. An initiative should be done to turn it as a practical material. The rubber seed is potential for natural composite along with the increasing attention toward natural composite application.This work aims to produce natural fibre composite based on rubber seed and characterize it's mechanical properties. In this work, the rubber seed natural composite produced by using the hand lay-up method. Polyester resin YUCALAC BQTN-157 was used as the matrix with the addition of 1% MEKP (Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone- Peroxide) as the catalyst. Mechanical properties of the composite were examined by using a tensile and bending test. Additionally, the water absorption test was performed according to the ASTM D 570. The result showed that the tensile and bending strength decrease with increasing the filler composition, which is added in the composite. The composite, which has the filler composition of 40% was generate the highest tensile strength. In contrast, the lowest tensile strength appeared at the composite with a filler of 60%. The bending strength trend also behaves similarly with the tensile strength as the filler composition increased. Water absorption ability of composites displays the acceptable value as it shows within the range of 2.22-2.96%.

Abstract

Substrat Cu dan solder SAC305 merupakan beberapa bahan semikonduktor. Sambungan solder harus memiliki kekuatan ikatan metalurgi yang baik ketika solder dan substrat disatukan. Manfaat solder nantinya akan membuat interkoneksi antara hubungan listrik dalam satu substrat yang akan membentuk senyawa atau lapisan IMC. Dimana terbentuknya senyawa intermetalik (IMC) pada hasil reaksi akan menjadi peran yang penting dari terbentuknya ikatan yang baik antara solder dan substrat. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penilitian ini guna menganalisis interfacial reaction yang terjadi antara substrat Cu dan solder SAC305 ketika disatukan. Pada tahap preparasi spesimen substrat Cu akan dipotong sesuai dengan dimensi yang telah ditentukan dan dilakukan proses cleaning pada bola solder SAC305. Setelah proses preparasi sampel dilakukan proses Interfacial Reaction Couple, substrat Cu dan bola solder SAC305 ditimbang dengan rasio 1:3 dan spesimen substrat dicelupkan kedala fluks pada kedua sisi spesimen. Setelah itu, spesimen substrat Cu dan bola solder SAC305 disusun secara teratur dan diletakkan kedalam tabung kuarsa dan dilakukan proses pemanasan didalam tungku dengan temperatur reflow 270oC, 290oC, 310oC, dan 330oC dengan waktu reaksi 50 menit. Hasil reaksi yang terbentuk antara substrat Cu dan bola solder SAC305 kemudian diamplas dan dilakukan proses karakterisasi dengan mikroskop optik untuk melihat struktur mikro yang terbentuk serta dilakukan karakterisasi material berupa SEM, EDS dan XRD. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa nilai ketebalan IMC akan meningkat seiring dengan pertambahan variasi temperatur. Serta ditemukannya fasa Cu6Sn5 yang membentuk lapisan kerang serta Cu3Sn yang terbentuk secara planar berdekatan dengan substrat Cu pada lapisan IMC.

Abstract

Bulk Metallic Glass (BMG) gains attractions as a candidate for future material in various applications due to its physical and mechanical properties. The fundamental characterization of the crystallization of Mg58Cu31Gd11 has been performed using in-situ synchrotron radiation technique complemented with differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The glass transition temperature was detected and the occurrence of two step crystallization found during the process. Abstract

Pemukiman merupakan salah satu penghasil sampah domestik organik terbanyak, seperti sisa makanan dan sisa taman atau daun dan rumput. Sedangkan sampah domestik anorganik, seperti plastik, kertas, kaca, dan logam tidak banyak. Salah satu alternatif pengolahan sampah domestik organik adalah pengomposan, baik padat maupun cair. RT 37 Kelurahan Telaga Sari, Kecamatan Balikpapan Kota adalah salah satu wilayah pemukiman di Kota Balikpapan yang cukup padat penduduknya. Gagasan untuk melakukan pemanfaatan sampah domestik organik menjadi kompos cair didasarkan dari pengamatan lapangan yang melihat ketertarikan warga merawat tanaman. Oleh karena itu diharapkan dengan adanya kegiatan pembuatan kompos cair dari sampah domestik organik dapat mengurangi jumlah sampah yang dibuang ke TPS/TPA dan menjadi salah satu sumber nutrisi bagi tanaman milik warga. Dalam pelaksanaannya masyarakat sangat antusias, yang dibuktikan dengan banyaknya warga yang berpartisipasi dalam proses pembuatan kompos cair sampai dengan penerapannya pada tanaman. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah adanya kompos cair buatan warga RT 37 Kelurahan Telaga Sari yang digunakan untuk perawatan tanaman di rumah masing-masing. Pada akhir kegiatan, warga setempat menyarankan agar ke depannya kegiatan ini dapat dikembangkan menjadi lebih produktif, salah satunya dengan adanya komersialisasi produk kompos cair.

Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the performance of a printing machine using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) calculations. The printing machine already meets the World Class standards with availability, performance, and quality metrics set at 85%. Achieving this standard is considered indicative of good machine performance according to these benchmarks. Recommendations for improvement include implementing machine maintenance management supported by routine maintenance by machine operators to minimize issues during production. The results from the OEE calculations show that the availability, performance, quality, and overall effectiveness of the machine have not reached or exceeded the World Class OEE standards. This has caused production delays due to the machine's low performance. The low performance is attributed to the fact that the printing machine operators at CV Delimas do not fully understand the machine's maintenance procedures. The performance metric for the printing machine at CV Delimas using OEE averages only 33%. This indicates that the machine's performance is significantly below the 95% standard.

Abstract

Kelurahan Karang Joang merupakan salah satu kelurahan yang berada di Kecamatan Balikpapan Utara dengan luas wilayah 93.09 km2, dengan jumlah penduduk sebanyak 31.276 jiwa. Salah satu daerah kelurahan Karang Joang adalah Jl. Kesatriaan (Transad) KM. 8. Salah satu permasalahan di kawasan Transad adalah air sumur bor yang berbau dan tinggi akan kandungan zat besi dan juga banyaknya limbah dari perkebunan kelapa sawit milik warga. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tentang air sumur bor yang berbau dan limbah kelapa sawit yang dapat mencemari lingkungan ini, maka dilakukan pembuatan teknologi filter air dengan memanfaatkan limbah kelapa sawit berupa cangkang dan serabut kelapa sebagai media filter dan menggunakan limbah rumah tangga berupa galon bekas sebagai wadah teknologi filter air dengan melalui beberapa tahap. Pada tahap persiapan dilakukan dengan melakukan survey dan observasi ke kawasan Transad KM.8 Karang Joang. Pada tahap pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan beberapa kegiatan seperti mempersiapkan alat dan bahan, pelaksanaan dilakukan beberapa kegiatan seperti mempersiapkan alat dan bahan, pelaksanaan tahapan pembuatan teknologi filter air dan melakukan sosialisasi terkait pemanfaatan kegunaan bahan dan cara kerja Filter air. Terakhir, tahap evaluasi dengan melakukan pemantauan secara berkala dan pemeriksaan visual komponen filter air selama 4 minggu. Adapun pengujian kandungan kadar besi hasil filter air ini, yaitu sebesar 0,5 mg.

Abstract

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are common in Indonesia; this is also true in Karang Jati, Balikpapan, and East Borneo. Despite this, the villagers have little knowledge about prevention, despite being aware of the grave consequences that diseases can have on their well-being and social standing. This exercise aims to raise villagers' understanding of the need to prevent non-communicable diseases. Using NCD screening with information distribution, this activity has encouraged the villagers to become more aware of the condition and motivated them to take preventative action. Most of the villagers are at high risk of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), specifically hypertension, according to the screening results. These data have effectively supported the villagers in establishing NCD screening and management in their neighborhood through Pos Pembinaan Terpadu (Posbindu) PTM, a community-based NCD prevention and management activity.

Abstract

Balikpapan is one of the regions in Indonesia that has a remanufacturing business center. PT OPQ is one of the remanufacturing companies with an engine disassembly process that experiences over lead time for 3 years which reaches 2,003 minutes which exceeds the standard for 1,845 minutes due to non-value added activities such as idling, waiting for components, waiting for component files, arranging components, and chatting in the engine disassembly process. This research aims to minimize the time of non-value added activities in the engine disassembly process. This research method uses lean manufacturing with identification stages with process activity mapping, value stream mapping, pareto diagram, and fault tree analysis, as well as providing proposed recommendations. The results showed a decrease in engine disassembly cycle time from 1,874 minutes to 1,615 minutes. Proposed improvements that can be recommended in the form of engine scheduling produce production capacity per month for 1 operator can complete 6 engines, arrange components according to the type of engine components that have been divided for each area, and the application of shortest job first which results in a decrease in lead time between processes which originally reached 1,985 to 1,051 minutes or decreased by 1,900 minutes for the total from before and after improvement.
