Abstract

Writing is one of the skills that must be improved. Writing requires complex skills such as developing creative ideas, vocabulary variations and also using good and correct grammar. This is because most students lack vocabulary, find it difficult to generate ideas in writing and are less able to string words together in writing. One of the efforts to improve writing skills is through the presentation of Silent Cartoon Animation in Narrative Text writing. The purpose of this study is to improve the ability to write narrative texts by using silent cartoon animation in an effort to provide a stimulus to students so that they can come up with ideas that can be put into written form. This research uses the classroom action research (CAR) method which examines quantitative and qualitative data from the applied linguistic aspect. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the use of Silent Cartoon Animation media was able to improve students' abilities in writing narrative text.

Abstract

Speaking skill menjadi salah satu kunci keberhasilan dalam komunikasi. Dalam program minor healthy and happy ageing. Mahasiswa wajib menguasai Bahasa inggris dan memiliki speaking skill yang baik karena mereka diwajibkan untuk menjadi tutor untuk mahasiswa asing selama berada di Bali. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan speaking skil mereka adalah dengan senantiasa memberikan metode pengajaran yang lebih kreatif guna mengasah kemampuan mereka. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan speaking skill Bahasa inggris mahasiswa Bina Usada Bali dengan menerapkan foreign buddy tutor system. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode penelitian tindakan. Tindakan dalam penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Dimana terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan dalam tiap siklusnya. Penerapan foreign buddy tutor system terbukti mampu meningkatkan speaking skill Bahasa inggris mahasiswa. Mereka menjadi lebih antusias dan termotivasi dalam berkomunikasi dengan mengguakan Bahasa inggris karena lawan bicara mereka adalah orang asing. Penerapan metode ini terbukti mampu meningkatkan speaking skill mahasiswa.

Abstract

Speaking skills, especially in presenting something like destinations, attractions and etc are critical for students to comprehend, particularly those majoring in travel management. Communication is deemed good when a tour guide can convey information or facts about a location or anything to guests in a clear and efficient manner. Several strategies are used to develop the speaking abilities of travel management students, one of them is by using a spinning wheel media which consists of several questions which are then answered by the students within a predetermined amount of time. This study investigated the efficacy of employing a spinning wheel media to improve the speaking abilities of students majoring in travel management and also to address the demand for practical and engaging speaking activities suited to the unique context of travel management students. A mixed-methods approach was used, with pre and posttest evaluations, observations, and students’ feedback. Overall, the findings indicated that implementing creative and interactive speaking exercises, such as the spinning wheel media, can considerably improve speaking skills among travel management students which was demonstrated by an increase in students’ pretest scores from 67.25% to 84.75% at the post test. Similarly, students claimed that they were more passionate about learning through this media since they were more pushed and challenged to be able to talk more about the topics they had learned. Further research is needed to determine the long-term impacts and potential applicability of this strategy in other educational settings. Abstract

Introduction to fauna in English through animated videos is an effort to introduce the names of animals and their habitats orally and in writing. The purpose of this community engagement activity is to (1) imitate and pronounce the English names of animals according to the pictures, (2) match the English words with the animal pictures, and (3) connect the pictures with the written English words. The method used is socialisation and mentoring, by providing materials on the introduction of fauna in English through animated videos. The participants of this activity are 23 students from the 2nd and 3rd grades of SD Negeri 1 Sedang. The results of this activity are: (1) conducting field approaches and observations, (2) the team providing facilities such as material delivery, videos, gifts, and snacks in the form of biscuits and milk to the participants, (3) providing training through materials, games, and question-and-answer sessions, (4) evaluating the participants' understanding of the given materials. The observations and evaluations show that the participants have understood several English vocabulary words related to the names of animals and their habitats.

Abstract

Community service activities with the theme "Growing Mind: Show Your Smile, Blow Your Mind for Learning Our Body" is a theme raised with the aim of developing children's minds by learning happily and learning intelligently to understand body parts in English. The objectives of this PKM activity were: (1) imitating saying English words according to the picture, (2) saying English words according to the picture, (3) matching the sound of the English word with the picture that symbolizes it, and (4) connecting the picture and writing English. The method used was socialization and mentoring. Presentation of material about increase your knowledge of English by learning 'parts of the body' through audio-visual and audio-lingual methods. The participants in this activity were 36 students of SD Negeri 8 Padang Sambian Kaja. The results of this PKM activity were: (1) using an approach method through field observations, (2) the team provided facilities in the form of delivering materials, prizes, and providing consumption in the form of healthy drinks such as milk to students at SD Negeri 8 Padang Sambian Kaja, Kec. West Denpasar. (3) training through materials, games and question and answer sessions, (4) evaluation of activities regarding the understanding of counseling participants. From the results obtained, useful PKM activities was obtained related to increasing knowledge of English by learning 'parts of the body' through audio visual and lingual methods.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition in which children under the age of five fail to thrive due to a prolonged lack of nutrients. The mother's lack of information will influence her behavior in delivering adequate diet to her children. Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between mother's knowledge and stunting incidents experienced by toddlers in the working area of ​​Abang I Public Health Centre. Methodology: This study included a quantitative method, analytic observational research, and a cross-sectional strategy. 107 respondents were sampled using a purposive sampling procedure. The analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. Result: The study results revealed that p-value = 0.001 = 0.05, indicating that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Conclusions: There was a correlation between mother's knowledge and stunting incidents experienced by toddlers in the working area of ​​Abang I Public Health Centre.   Keywords: Mother’s knowledge; Stunting; Toddlers.

Abstract

Introduction: Menstruation often leads to disturbances in women, with menstrual pain, or dysmenorrhea, being a common issue that affects daily activities. Non-pharmacological therapies like acupressure and warm compresses are considered safe and effective in managing dysmenorrhea. This study examines the effect of Hegu Point (LI4) acupressure therapy combined with warm compresses on menstrual pain in students at SMP Wisata Denpasar. Methods: This quantitative study employed a pre-experimental, one-group pre-test, and post-test design. The sample size was 52 students, selected through purposive sampling. The intervention involved applying a warm compress and acupressure at the Hegu point (LI4). Pain levels were measured using an observation sheet for pain scales, and the data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon rank test. Results: After the intervention, menstrual pain significantly decreased. Before the intervention, 57.7% of the students experienced moderate pain. After the intervention, 53.8% reported mild pain. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect. Conclusion: In students, Hegu Point (LI4) acupressure therapy combined with a warm compress significantly reduces menstrual pain. Healthcare providers should educate students about these non-pharmacological therapies for managing dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Salah satu, gangguan fisik yang paling sering terjadi pada lansia adalah peningkatan tekanan darah atau biasa disebut hipertensi, gejala yang sering dialami pada lansia dengan hipertensi adalah kesulitan tidur atau yang disebut insomnia. Insomnia merupakan suatu keadaan seseorang yang mengalami sulit tidur atau tidur sering terbangun dimalam hari atau terbangun terlalu pagi. Banyak upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi tekanan darah yang meningkat dan gangguan insomnia yang buruk salah satunya dengan pemberian terapi mindfulness. Terapi Mindfulness merupakan intervensi berdasarkan kesadaran dan relaksasi, praktik mindfulness serta metode relaksasi menghasilkan respons relaksasi. Penilaian insomnia pada penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner Insomnia Rating Scale (IRS). Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian terapi mindfulness terhadap insomnia dan tekanan darah pada lansia penderita hipertensi di Banjar Sengguan Pasekan Desa Sading. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre eksperimen dengan rancangan one group pretest posttest design dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 20 orang lanjut usia yang mengalami tekanan darah yang meningkat dan gangguan insomnia. Responden dipilih berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon untuk membandingkan hasil pretest dan posttest . Ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada insomnia lansia sebelum dan sesudah diberikan intervensi terapi mindfulness dengan Z hitung sebesar 4,472 dan nilai p = 0,000 ( p value <0,005). Sedangkan perbedaan yang signifikan pada tekanan darah Pretest-posttest sistolik diberikan intervensi terapi mindfulness dengan Z hitung sebesar 3,974, pada Pretest-posttest d iastolik 3,983. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh pemberian terapi mindfulness terhadap insomnia dan tekanan darah pada lansia penderita hipertensi di Banjar Sengguan Pasekan Desa Sading.

Abstract

The socialization and implementation of this waste bank was carried out in Banjar Umalas Kangin, Kerobokan Klod Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency. This service activity involves the participation of PKK administrators and members as well as a waste management company, namely BaliBagus Recycle. Banjar Umalas Kangin is a densely populated tourist area. This is one of the triggers for the increase in the volume of waste in this area. This garbage is usually thrown away by the community. However, with the waste bank program, it is hoped that it can contribute to increasing the economic value of the waste produced in this banjar area. This activity is also in line with the main PKK program.

Abstract

Dismenorea sering terjadi pada remaja yang ditimbulkan akibat ketidakseimbangan hormon progesterone pada saat menstruasi yang dirasakan pada perut bagian bawah. Penatalaksanaan yang dapat diberikan saat mengalami dismenore yaitu dengan endorphine massage yang dikombinasikan dengan musik klasik (Mozart). Endorphine massage dan Musik klasik Mozart dapat meningkatkan hormone endorfin dan serotonin melalui sentuhan yang lembut dipermukaan punggung kulit dan diberikan bersamaan dengan mendengarkan musik klasik Mozart dengan ritme yang lambat yang dapat memberikan efek rileks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh endorphine massage dan terapi musik klasik (Mozart) terhadap penurunan dismenore pada remaja putri di Lingkungan Kuwum. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian one grup pre-test post-test desain. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 20 responden diambil dengan metode accidental sampling. Terapi diberikan pada saat Menstruasi hari 1 dan 2, sedangkan pengumpulan data menggunkan kueisoner Numaric Pain Rating Scale. Hasil pre-test menunjukan 14 responden (70.0%) mengalami nyeri sedang. Hasil post-test menunjukan 14 responden (70.0%) mengalami penurunan nyeri dismenore dengan katerogi nyeri ringan. Analisa data menggunakan Uji Wilcoxon Sing Rank Test, diperoleh bahwa nilai p value 0,000 p<0,05. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh endorphine massage dan terapi musik klasik (Mozart) terhadap penurunan dismenore pada remaja putri di Lingkungan Kuwum.     Dysmenorrhoea often occurs in adolescents caused by an imbalance of the hormone progesterone during menstruation which is felt in the lower abdomen. Management that can be given when experiencing dysmenorrhoea is endorphin massage combined with classical (Mozart) music. Endorphin massage and Mozart classical music can increase endorphins and serotonin hormones through a soft touch on the surface of the back of the skin and given at the same time as listening to classical Mozart music with a slow rhythm that can have a relaxing effect. This study aimed to analyze the effect of endorphin massage and classical (Mozart) music therapy on reducing dysmenorrhoea of adolescent girls in Kuwum environment. This study used a quantitative method with a one-group pre-test-post-test research design. The sample in this study was 20 respondents taken by accidental sampling method. Therapy was given during menstruation on the first and second day, while data collection used a numeric pain rating scale questionnaire. The results of the pre-test showed 14 respondents (70.0%) had moderate pain. The post-test results showed 14 respondents (70.0%) experienced a decrease in dysmenorrhoea pain with accompaniment categories. Analysis of the data using the Wilcoxon Sing Rank Test, it was found that the p value was 0.000 p <0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was an effect of endorphine massage and classical (Mozart) music therapy on reducing dysmenorrhoea of adolescent girls in Kuwum environment.
