Abstract

Efforts to process waste at the source are a must considering that the Sarimukti Landfill (TPA) only accepts 50% of waste. These efforts include reducing waste with Reduce, Reuse and Recylce method and processing waste independently through simple composting. RT 01/013 area of Lengkong Village, Bojongsoang District is a densely populated settlement that has had a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Management Site (TPS 3R) for the Bagja Self-Help Group (KSM) since 2021. This TPS 3R can only accommodate the waste of 3 RW out of 17 RW in Lengkong Village. This means that the existence of TPS 3R KSM Bagja hasn’t been able to accommodate the volume of waste. This community service aims to increase community knowledge, especially RT 01/013 Lengkong Village about processing household organic waste. The community service method with the theme "Gerakan Cinta Sampah OrgaNIK" (Cinta SONIK) includes counseling, education, organic waste processing practices and providing waste processing equipment assistance in the form of biopori making tools and EM4 as a decomposer of organic matter. After the organic waste processing education, there was an increase in the average knowledge of participants during the posttest to 84.73, higher than the pretest value of 62.63. Data analysis states that there’s a significant difference between the knowledge of respondents before and after being given education about processing household organic waste. The community service that has been carried out has succeeded in increasing the knowledge of the RT 01/013 community in Lengkong Village.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) among pregnant women remains a public health issue in Agam Regency. A preliminary survey at Lubuk Basung Health Center showed that 13.33% of pregnant women experienced CED, although ANC coverage in the Polindes Jorong II Balai Ahad area had reached 91%. This indicates that other factors may influence the incidence of CED, such as poor personal hygiene, ANC non-compliance, low nutritional knowledge, and socioeconomic factors. This study aimed to identify factors associated with CED among pregnant women, including personal hygiene, ANC compliance, parity, income, and nutritional knowledge. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design conducted from January to May 2025 in the working area of Polindes Jorong II Balai Ahad, Lubuk Basung, Agam Regency. The sample consisted of 60 pregnant women selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurements, and analyzed using the chi-square test (p < 0.05). The results showed that 6.7% of pregnant women experienced CED. There was a significant relationship between personal hygiene (p = 0.022) and ANC compliance (p = 0.027) with CED, while parity, income, and nutritional knowledge were not significant.

Abstract

The Health Office of Bukittinggi City reported that out of 11,383 toddlers, 2,742 (24.48%) experienced emotional development disorders. Emotional development in children is influenced by their environment and play habits, including screen time activity. This study aims to determine the relationship between screen time activity and the emotional development of children aged 4–5 years in the Guguk Panjang District, Bukittinggi City, in 2025. This research is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design conducted from May 20 to June 4, 2025, at PAUD/TK Aisyiyah I Guguk Panjang. The study population consisted of children aged 4–5 years, with a total sample of 35 respondents selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires on screen time activity and children's emotional development. The data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods with a chi-square test and a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most of the children aged 4–5 years had poor screen time activity, with 17 respondents (48.6%). Furthermore, most children had poor emotional development, with 30 respondents (85.7%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between screen time activity and emotional development in children aged 4–5 years (p-value = 0.016). These findings indicate that most of the problems in children's emotional development are caused by screen time activities. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between screen time activity and the emotional development of children aged 4–5 years. Therefore, it is recommended that screen time activities for children in this age group should not be introduced early or should be controlled and accompanied. Parents are encouraged to divert their children's attention from gadgets by introducing educational games that can stimulate child development.
