Abstract

Abstract

Nutritional problems in children are closely related to the health and nutrition preparation of a woman to become a mother-to-be, in this case, eligle woman (15-49 year) who do not yet have a legal partner. The results of the Nutrition International survey in 2018 found cases of anemia in eligible wowen’s in West Java of 41.93%, this is in line with the target of giving blood supplement tablets to eligible women’s, especially the adolescent group, which is still low (25.2%) and still below the target of West Java (52%). There is a need for intervention efforts to prevent anemia by optimizing the provision of iron-containing foods in addition to giving iron tablets. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of a mix of beetroot and red guava yogurt on hemoglobin levels in eligible woman. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a one-group pre-post design approach. The sample in this study was 30 respondents using a purposive sampling technique with the inclusion criteria of mild and moderate anemia, not having allergies to yogurt ingredients, and not being on medication disease that can cause anemia. Determination of anemia by measuring hemoglobin levels with the POCT (Point of Care Testing) method. The analysis technique uses frequency distribution, normality test, and bivariate test using Wilcoxon test through SPSS version 20.0 computer software. The results showed that all respondents (100%) experienced mild anemia before being given the yogurt mix of beets and red guava. There is a significant change with a pvalue of 0.000 < alpha value (0.05). It can be concluded that giving beetroot and red guava yogurt if consumed regularly and appropriately can reduce the incidence of anemia, so it is hoped that this can be used as a policy for intervention in eligible women’s with anemia.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical developmental period marked by significant physical, psychological, and social changes. An imbalance between energy intake and expenditure during this stage can lead to nutritional disorders, including underweight and overweight conditions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels, picky eating behavior, and physical activity with Body Mass Index (BMI) among adolescent girls in Bandung Regency. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 106 randomly selected high school female students. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires to assess stress levels (DASS-42), picky eating behavior (modified CEBQ), and physical activity (PAQ-A), along with direct anthropometric measurements to calculate BMI. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used. Results: Stress level (p = 0.012; OR = 3.13), picky eating behavior (p = 0.003; OR = 5.42), and physical activity (p = 0.018; OR = 0.29) were significantly associated with BMI status. The findings highlight that a combination of stress, eating behavior, and physical activity plays a crucial role in influencing the nutritional status of adolescent girls. Conclusion: A comprehensive approach involving education, nutritional counseling, and promotion of active lifestyles is highly recommended within the school environment. Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical period where energy balance affects nutritional status. An imbalance between energy intake and expenditure during this stage can lead to nutritional disorders, including underweight and overweight conditions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels, picky eating behaviour, and physical activity with Body Mass Index (BMI) among adolescent girls. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 106 randomly selected high school female students. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires to assess stress levels (DASS-42), picky eating behaviour (modified CEBQ), and physical activity (PAQ-A), along with direct anthropometric measurements to calculate BMI. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used. Results: Most respondents were aged 18–21 years (67.9%), with high stress levels (73.5%), picky eating behaviour (83%), and physical inactivity (65.1%). Bivariate analysis found significant associations between stress levels (p = 0.012) and picky eating (p = 0.003) with BMI, where both increased the risk of BMI imbalance. Physical activity showed no significant relationship (p = 0.118). Multivariate analysis confirmed significant associations between stress (OR = 3.13, p = 0.012) and picky eating (OR = 5.42, p = 0.003) with BMI, with physical activity serving as a protective factor (OR = 0.29, p = 0.018).Conclusion: This study concludes that stress levels, picky eating behaviour, and physical activity significantly influence the Body Mass Index (BMI) of adolescent girls. High stress levels and picky eating increase the risk of BMI imbalance, while adequate physical activity serves as a protective factor.

Abstract

Nausea and vomiting are common discomforts experienced by 50% of pregnant women. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of giving ginger and honey with ginger, green beans and honey to treat nausea and vomiting in first trimester pregnant women. The quantitative research design used a quasi-experimental. Subjects in this study were taken by Consecutive sampling as many as 60 respondents. The results showed that most (63.3%) pregnant women in the first trimester experienced mild nausea and vomiting after being given the intervention of ginger, honey, and green beans. While in the honey and ginger intervention group, most (46.7%) experienced moderate nausea and vomiting. The results of the statistical test showed p-value = 0.007 (0.05), meaning that there was a difference in effectiveness between the ginger and honey intervention, with the ginger, honey, and mung bean intervention. The mean rank value in the Mann-Whitney test shows the average rating for giving ginger, honey and green beans, which is 24.90, lower than the average rating for giving honey and ginger with a value of 36.10. This means that ginger, honey, and green beans are more effective in overcoming nausea and vomiting in first trimester pregnant women compared to giving ginger and honey. The conclusion is that giving ginger, green beans, honey is effective compared to giving ginger, honey so that it can be an alternative in overcoming nausea and vomiting for pregnant women in the first trimester.
