Abstract

Nagari Koto Tinggi which located in Gunuang Omeh Subdistrict in Regency 50 Kota is one of the biggest producers natural products of orange in West Sumatra. Jeruk Siam Gunuang Omeh (JESIGO), has good quality, but post-harvest processing is still lacking. The Orange produced at Nagari Koto Tinggi has a delicious, sweet and evenly large size. One of the results from the utilization of orange is jam. Processed from orange that is easy to make is jam. The Utilization of orange in Nagari Koto Tinggi to jam is expected to be an added value for the community in Nagari Koto Tinggi. Andalas University students in conducting KKN (Real Work Lecture) activities help run one of the work programs to the community that is socialization of making orange jam. The socialization went well by involving women's PKK of Jorong Muaro. The resulting orange jam is quite satisfying, because orange jam has an aftertaste that is less desirable, but the results are still acceptable. This orange jam formulation is still in an experimental phase, so further research is needed to determine the composition in making delicious jam. Until then this jam is expected to be one of the selling points for Koto Tinggi village.

Abstract

Nagari Kototitinggi is one of the villages in Gunung Omeh Subdistrict, Lima Puluh Kota District, which consists of 8 jorong areas. In this Nagari. There is only one junior high school, namely SMP Negeri 01 Gunung Omeh sub-district. Here I see so much potential from adolescents that can be empowered so that later it can be useful and contribute significantly to society and the region because of the large number of teenagers there. I also see the potential of this region in Nagari Kototinggi that can be managed, so I made a work program about this entrepreneurship. Under the theme of KKN PPM Andalas University in 2019, "Technology Implementation To Achieve Nagari Independence", then in addition to providing business motivation and necessary foundations in entrepreneurship, these school children are also given about ways on how they can utilize the technology that is developing at this time to use for more useful activities, not just for playing, but can be used for entrepreneurship that will also benefit them. The method used in this work program was in the form of socialization in the form of providing education with power points on the basics of entrepreneurship and, interspersed with motivational videos and motivational words for entrepreneurship and at the end of the time held questions and answers and discussions. With this socialization is expected to grow souls Entrepreneurs from the beginning to adolescents in Nagari Koto Tinggi, and later they can apply this to their lives because this entrepreneurial spirit is essential for the creation of entrepreneurs who can contribute and build the economy around them.

Abstract

Gunung Omeh Sub-District is renowned for its production of Jesigo oranges. With an area spanning 156.54 km², one of the areas within Gunung Omeh Sub-District known for Jesigo orange cultivation is Nagari Koto Tinggi. As one of the largest Jesigo orange-producing regions in West Sumatra, it is essential to empower citrus farmers in Nagari Koto Tinggi to realize the Nagari Organik program through the socialization of organic fertilizer use in citrus farming to enhance soil's physical, chemical, and biological properties. The objective of this initiative is to boost Jesigo orange production in Gunung Omeh Sub-District, particularly in Nagari Koto Tinggi, thereby increasing the income of citrus farmers. The method employed involves socialization and practical training related to organic fertilizer production. The findings from this initiative reveal that the community in Nagari Koto Tinggi had not been using organic fertilizer, even though farmers can produce it themselves. Citrus farming land is also provided with organic fertilizer due to a lack of knowledge and information regarding organic fertilizer production. Following participation in this program, the participants' knowledge and skills concerning the creation, benefits, and advantages of organic fertilizer have significantly improved. The aim is for the community to start producing organic fertilizer that can be directly applied to farmland, reducing the reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This shift is expected to decrease dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which have negative environmental and health impacts. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the people of Nagari Koto Tinggi will establish a cooperative dedicated to agriculture.
