Abstract

Learning Islamic sciences and the Quran profoundly influences individual and community faith renewal in various aspects. Employing a descriptive research approach, analyzing Quranic verses, prophetic sayings, and community leaders' opinions, a study conducted in Silandurong village during Ramadan revealed a lack of enthusiasm among its predominantly Muslim population for Islamic education and Quranic reading. Reasons include parental neglect in nurturing proper beliefs, societal indifference toward the illuminating religion, and governmental neglect of religious programs. Despite a Muslim majority, attendance at prayers and educational sessions barely reaches 5%, even during Ramadan. To address this, the researcher recommends the establishment of educational councils, memorization circles, and Islamic evening schools for children to revitalize faith and foster community well-being, promoting comfort, tranquility, stability, and security from harm.

Abstract

This article explores communication strategies based on symbolic interactionism theory in the context of Islamic values education, particularly in facing the challenges of modernisation and globalisation. In Islamic education, communication plays an important role as a means of conveying and internalising values that shape the character, ethics, and worldview of students. Using a literature review approach, this study analyses how symbolic interactionism, which focuses on meaning-making through social interaction, can be applied to develop effective educational communication strategies. The findings indicate that interpersonal communication, group discussions, and the use of digital media are the main strategies that align with the symbolic interactionism framework. This approach enables educators to connect meaningfully with students, taking into account their social backgrounds and individual identities. By emphasising symbols, shared meanings, and personal involvement, Islamic educators can foster a deeper understanding and stronger commitment to Islamic values. This approach not only supports character development but also prepares students to navigate the global world without losing their religious identity. This study underscores the importance of adaptive and value-based communication strategies in enhancing the relevance and impact of Islamic education in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication strategies of Islamic preachers (penyuluh) in promoting social harmony within multicultural societies. In modern contexts, Islamic preaching functions not only as a means of religious transmission but also as a tool for strengthening social solidarity and cultural cohesion. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, drawing on previous studies and communication sociology literature. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of Islamic preachers depends on their ability to apply adaptive, empathetic, and intercultural communication strategies. Moreover, the digital transformation requires preachers to act as multidimensional communicators capable of managing religious content in online spaces while maintaining the authenticity of Islamic messages. The social function of da’wah also contributes to character development, interreligious tolerance, and social integration. Therefore, Islamic preachers should enhance their digital literacy, cultural empathy, and ethical communication competencies so that da’wah remains spiritually relevant and socially impactful in building a harmonious, inclusive, and civilized society.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of pesantren traditions with modern higher education at STAI As-Sunnah, an Islamic college in Indonesia. Employing a phenomenological approach, the research analyzes how this institution balances traditional values with contemporary educational demands. Key findings highlight STAI As-Sunnah's success in maintaining a focus on Arabic language learning and Islamic values while offering accredited study programs. However, the study also identifies discourses surrounding gender inclusivity, access to technology, and the balance between tradition and modernity. The study concludes that adopting more inclusive and adaptive approaches, such as blended learning, may help STAI As-Sunnah become an innovative model in Islamic higher education, contributing significantly to the development of Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a model of Islamic value-based crisis communication in an Islamic boarding school through a case study at Pondok Pesantren Attibyan, Deli Serdang. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, this research examines how leaders, administrators, teachers, and students manage information and respond to crisis situations. The findings reveal that crisis communication at Attibyan is structured hierarchically while remaining consultative, grounded in Islamic values such as tabayyun (verification) and amanah (accountability). An important contextual finding is that students are not allowed to use personal mobile phones within the pesantren environment. As a result, digital communication is centrally managed by the pesantren authorities, making information control more structured but also creating challenges in external communication speed. The study identifies a five-stage crisis communication model: early detection, internal verification, message formulation, controlled publication through official channels, and evaluation-recovery. Digital media are used selectively by the management for clarification and public education with an ethical and non-defensive tone. Key challenges include limited digital literacy among stakeholders and the absence of formal written procedures. This research contributes to the development of Islamic crisis communication models by integrating religious values with modern communication management practices in the context of pesantren.

Abstract

Organizational communication management in the digital era faces increasing challenges due to accelerated information flows, digital communication platforms, and growing demands for transparency and accountability. This study aims to systematically review the development of organizational communication management research in the digital era and to integrate it with an Islamic communication perspective. Using a qualitative approach, this study applies a PRISMA-based systematic literature review (SLR). Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar, Garuda, and DOAJ, yielding 312 records, which were refined to 32 articles for thematic analysis. The findings identify four main themes: the transformation of organizational communication management, internal communication and digital work practices, crisis communication and organizational reputation, and the role of Islamic communication values and ethics in organizational governance. Based on the thematic synthesis, this study proposes a conceptual model that positions Islamic communication principles as an ethical foundation for organizational communication management in the digital era. The novelty of this study lies in the explicit integration of modern organizational communication management theories with Islamic communication principles within a contextually relevant framework for organizations in Indonesia.
