Abstract

This study aims to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-integrated e-book on solar system material to support science education. The development process followed five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The e-book was validated by experts, yielding a score of 93.36%, indicating it is highly feasible for use in educational settings. Student responses were also assessed, with a score of 88.23%, categorizing the e-book as "very good." Key features of the AR-integrated e-book include enhanced object visualization, allowing students to explore the solar system in greater detail, and interactive elements that encourage active participation in the learning process. These features help improve students' conceptual understanding and engagement with the material. The results suggest that the AR-integrated e-book is an effective educational tool, offering a modern approach to teaching solar system content. By incorporating AR technology, the e-book creates an immersive and engaging learning experience that enhances both comprehension and student involvement. The study concludes that this AR-based e-book is a valuable resource for science education, particularly for teaching complex subjects like the solar system, and has the potential to be applied effectively in various educational contexts.

Abstract

The ability to comprehend and apply scientific concepts to contemporary issues is essential for the long-term growth of society. Scientific literacy enables students to understand how their bodies digest food, what it means to eat a balanced diet, and how their food choices affect the environment. The goal of this study was to create and test a STEM-based e-Book about the human digestive system that would help eighth-grade students become more scientifically literate while also teaching them about sustainability. The study utilized a Research and Development (RD) methodology based on the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Experts in media, learning design, materials, and language confirmed that the product was valid. They showed that the e-Book would perform well in the classroom. Thirty-eight-grade students at a private junior high school in Medan were involved in the implementation. A pretest measured how well something worked. We used pretest and post-test assessments to evaluate the effectiveness. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ scientific literacy. Most of the students scored above the minimum mastery level, with an average N-Gain in the high range (0.75). Feedback from students and teachers indicated that the e-Book was helpful for both classroom and independent learning. The results suggest that integrating STEM principles and sustainability topics into digital learning resources can significantly improve scientific literacy and promote health awareness grounded in sustainability among junior high school students.

Abstract

Teachers need well-designed learning materials to achieve instructional objectives. In the P3FIS course, students are required to develop such materials; however, many still lack sufficient understanding to design them effectively. The required components include the Annual Teaching Flow (ATP), semester and annual programs, and teaching modules consisting of teaching materials, learning media, student worksheets, and learning evaluations. Observations of Class B Physics Education students in 2022 indicated that many students come from Batak ethnic backgrounds. To create more contextual and meaningful learning, culturally responsive learning materials grounded in Batak culture are necessary. This study aimed to develop learning materials that are valid, practical, and effective. The research was conducted in the Physics Department at Universitas Negeri Medan using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, validation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The product developed was a comprehensive set of learning materials validated by three experts. Validation results showed scores of 81.7%, 83.1% and 80.3%, indicating high validity. Practicality results reached 83% in the small group and 93.62% in the large group. The effectiveness test produced an N-gain score of 0.65 (moderate category). Thus, the CRT-based learning materials grounded in Batak culture are considered highly valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract
