Abstract

This study aims to develop and implement self-assessment based on the Rating Scale method using Google Form in learning Biology, especially on the material of substance movement through cell membranes. The research method used a Research and Development (RD) with the 4D model, involving 33 grade XI students at SMA Negeri 36 Jakarta. Data collection techniques included questionnaires to gather student responses and feedback. Data analysis was conducted using validity and reliability tests, where the instrument demonstrated high validity (r-value r-table value of 0.344) and a reliability coefficient of 0.8667, ensuring consistent and accurate evaluation results. The self-assessment instrument measured students' understanding of concepts such as diffusion, osmosis, and active transport, while also identifying learning barriers. Results revealed that 9.1% of students faced challenges in understanding the topic, with 3% struggling specifically with diffusion. The use of Google Form provided accessibility, ease of use, and efficiency in data analysis. This approach not only encouraged active reflection and independent strategy design among students but also proved adaptable for other Biology topics and technology-based learning contexts. Keywords: biology; movement of substances; self-assessment; rating scale; understanding

Abstract

A teacher must have teaching skills in order to become a professional teacher. The purpose of this article is to present the results of research on the development of teaching skills multimedia for microteaching courses in the Biology Education Study Program, FMIPA, State University of Jakarta. Multimedia is designed by combining text, images, audio and video to present basic teaching skills material in an interactive and interesting way. This research consisted of two years, in the first year four basic multimedia teaching skills were developed, namely: opening and closing lesson skills, class management skills and basic questioning skills and advanced questioning skills. This research is research and development (RnD) which was adapted into 7 stages from 10 steps of development research by Gall, Gall and Borg, including 1) research and data collection, 2) planning, 3) making prototypes, 4) testing first prototype, 5) prototype improvements, 6) field trials, 7) product improvements. The multimedia products developed are evaluated and assessed by experts, then revised based on the suggestions given and the results of field trials. The results of the research show that the multimedia developed is valid, practical and effective for improving teaching skills of pre-service teachers. Through this article the author wants to suggest that PKM or microteaching lecturers can use multimedia to practice basic teaching skills.

Abstract

Abstract

The main problem is the lack of dedicated digital e-modules in the high school biology curriculum analysis course, causing students to rely solely on government  documents and online sources. This research aims to develop a TPACK-based e-module enriched with microlearning strategies and test its feasibility through expert validation and user readability testing. The research uses a research and development method with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of needs analysis, design, development, limited implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects involved three experts (content, media, and language) and student at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, classes of 2022 and 2023, who had completed the Biology Curriculum Review course. Data was collected with experts’ and users’ feasibility questionnaires, then analyzed using feasibility criteria. The result show that according to the experts review, the percentage is about 95.50% (very feasible) and according to the respondent is about 88,29% (very feasible). The e-module was highly feasible but requires improvements in design consistency, language clarity, and integration of TPACK and microlearning for greater effectiveness.
