Abstract

The emergence of Generation Z in the modern workplace has introduced new perspectives on career values, work-life balance, and professional identity. The dominant narrative that equates personal success with productivity, career achievement, and organizational loyalty has created psychological pressures among young workers, often represented through the concept of the “corporate slave.” This study aimed to examine how the myth of corporate slavery among Generation Z was deconstructed through the lyrics of Hindia’s song “Berdansalah, Karir Ini Tak Ada Artinya” using Roland Barthes’ semiotic perspective. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with textual analysis as the primary method. The primary data consisted of the song lyrics, while secondary data were obtained from relevant academic literature. Data analysis focused on three levels of Barthes’ semiotics: denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings revealed that the lyrics represented workplace anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and resistance toward excessive career-oriented values. At the denotative level, the song portrayed everyday experiences of workers seeking freedom from rigid work routines. At the connotative level, these expressions symbolized forms of everyday resistance against dehumanizing work cultures. At the mythical level, the song challenged the ideology that career achievement determines human worth and offered an alternative narrative emphasizing freedom, authenticity, and self-constructed meaning. The study concluded that Hindia’s song functioned not only as an artistic expression but also as a medium of symbolic resistance reflecting Generation Z’s struggle to redefine success and personal freedom in contemporary society.

Data were collected through observation and documentation of the official music video. The findings reveal that love language is represented through various signs, including letters, family photographs, emotional expressions, tears, hugs, physical touch, and song lyrics. Four forms of love language were identified: words of affirmation, acts of service, quality time, and physical touch. Among these, words of affirmation emerged as the dominant representation through letters expressing affection, appreciation, and gratitude. Meanwhile, acts of service, quality time, and physical touch are represented through caring actions, shared family moments, and affectionate physical interactions. The study concludes that the music video portrays love as emotional closeness, appreciation, togetherness, and care within family, romantic, and fan relationships.

Abstract

This study examines how the credibility of Dokter Detektif as a TikTok information source shapes trust in Hanasui Power Bright Expert Serum product among members of BALIKPAPAN_MUA Community. Using Source Credibility Theory, the study focuses on expertise, trustworthiness, and attractiveness. A qualitative case study design was employed with six MUA practitioners selected purposively from the community. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation of TikTok content, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis and triangulation. The findings show that expertise is the strongest basis of trust because informants validate the source through laboratory-data interpretation and scientific explanation. Trustworthiness is strengthened by transparent laboratory documents and balanced disclosure of product weaknesses. Attractiveness operates mainly through intellectual appeal, anonymity, and direct communication rather than physical appearance. The three dimensions work synergistically and change initial doubts about the product into informed professional trust, although informants still conduct independent trials before recommending it.

Abstract

This study examines the diffusion of E-Money innovation among Generation X users of Balikpapan City Trans (BACITRA) in Balikpapan, Indonesia. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using observations, structured interviews, and documentation involving ten informants comprising BACITRA users and an operational informant. Data were analyzed through reduction, data display, and conclusion verification. Findings show that E-Money was initially perceived as a new and somewhat complex payment practice, particularly regarding tapping, balance, and card acquisition. However, direct experience, repeated use, and assistance from others reduced perceived complexity and strengthened perceived relative advantage. Digital media generated initial awareness, while interpersonal communication was more influential in operational understanding and adoption decisions. Adoption unfolded gradually through knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. The social system, especially family, peers, neighbors, and bus drivers, functioned as a key mechanism of normalization and continued diffusion. The study highlights socially embedded communication in public-service innovation.
