Abstract

Purpose -The digital era poses both challenges and opportunities for Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia. This study investigates the strategic role of pesantren in fostering digital literacy to shape a generation of Muslims who are both critical and productive. The research aims to analyze how digital literacy is integrated into pesantren education and the strategies employed to align technological use with Islamic ethical values. Methods -Adopting a qualitative library research method, the study draws from a wide range of primary and secondary sources, including academic literature and documented case studies. Findings –The findings reveal several key strategies: integration of digital subjects into curricula, training and workshops for students and teachers, policy reinforcement on technology use, ethical digital education, and collaboration with external institutions. Research implications / limitations -Case studies from pesantren such as Nurul Jadid, Darunnajah, and Al-Muayyad demonstrate successful implementations through e-learning platforms, digital preaching programs, and content creation training. Despite notable challenges such as limited infrastructure, cultural resistance, and a lack of digital competence among educators the study affirms the potential of pesantren to serve as centers of ethical digital literacy. Originality -The research contributes new insights by highlighting a rarely explored intersection between Islamic education and digital transformation, thus offering a valuable model for integrating religious values with technological advancement in education.

Abstract

The contribution of Islamic thought to world civilization has been openly, objectively and sympathetically acknowledged by Western scholars. However, the glory of Islamic civilization has now passed, leaving only the nostalgia of historical beauty. Little by little, Muslims began to experience decline and weakness in various fields. In order to maintain their Islamic identity, there is a tendency for Muslims to be defensive and exclusive. This happens, for example, in some Islamic boarding schools and madrassas that tend to only emphasise the study of Islamic Knowledge the loss of the sacred aspect of the concept of general knowledge and the defensive attitude toward Muslim Knowledge causes stagnation. This is dangerous for the development of Islamic Knowledge. Therefore, an idea emerged to bring together the advantages of the two, so that a new modern Knowledge was born but still religious and relevant to the concept of tawhid, this idea is known as the Islamization of Knowledge. The method used in this research is library research, and the primary data source in this research is documented data from Muslim scholars on Islamization. While secondary data in this research is in the form of journals, books, and websites related to the research topic. The data analysis technique is done by reducing, presenting, and drawing conclusions. The findings of this research will be presented in the form of an overview of how far the relevance of Islamization of Knowledge its challenges, as well as some actions that can be taken to answer the challenges in the current era.

Abstract

This article explores the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs – Self Actualization also study aims to examine the thoughts brought by Western figures related to Hierarchy of Needs Abraham Maslow in Islamic Perspective which the most idea comes from Al Ghazali’s tought. The hierarchy of needs consisting with five elements, there are: First, physiological needs are the most basic needs in Abraham Maslow's hierarchy. Second, the need for security, Third, social needs occupy Fourth, the need for gratitude Fifth, self-actualization needs are the highest ranked needs in Abraham Maslow's hierarchy. Maslow describes self-actualization by providing emphasis on full-humanness, arising from the development of human biological nature, and in accordance with their birth destiny. The conclusion that we can write here is The Islamic ontological perspective is not incorporated in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. In addition to the alleged ethnocentrism, non-universality and invalidity, the following mindsets distinguish Maslow’s theory from an Islamic point of view: (a) materialistic-based, (b) the absence of spiritual aspect and different interconnectedness between material and spiritual needs, and world-orientation, disregarding the hereafter. But, Islam can elaborate Maqasid al-Syari’ah (the objectives of Islamic law), human needs are grouped into three descending categories of significance: dharuriyyat (essential), hajiyyat (complementary), tahsiniyyat (embellishment). Dharuriyyat is the must-exist necessities that if not fulfilled will result in an imperfect human life as well as threaten the safety of humanity both in this world and the hereafter. This is inherent in the preservation of religion, life, intellect, progeny, and wealth. Hajiyyat is the complementary needs to remove hardships that are contained in the process of satisfying the necessities. Abstract

The murabahah contract represents the most widely utilized financing mechanism in Islamic banking in Indonesia, especially within consumptive financing, primarily due to its ease of implementation and the certainty of profit margins for financial institutions. Nevertheless, this widespread use gives rise to legal concerns regarding the extent to which murabahah practices substantively comply with both Islamic legal principles and positive law, particularly in terms of ownership arrangements, contractual transparency, and consumer protection. This study aims to analyze the legal position of murabahah contracts in consumptive financing, examine their conformity with the principles of fiqh muamalah and laws and regulations, and assess its implementation from the perspective of maqāṣid al-syarī'ah.  This study adopts a normative juridical approach (yuridis normatif) by applying statutory and conceptual approaches, complemented by an analytical framework to evaluate the consistency between legal norms and their practical application. The data were obtained through library research, encompassing Islamic banking legislation, regulations issued by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), DSN-MUI fatwas, and relevant scholarly literature. The results reveal that, despite the strong formal legal standing of murabahah contracts, their implementation still exhibits several substantive inconsistencies. In particular, the study highlights issues concerning the ambiguity of legal ownership of goods by banks prior to resale, the less optimal use of wakalah contracts that may transfer risk to customers, and the reliance on standard agreements that could potentially undermine consumer legal protection. Moreover, when viewed through the lens of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, murabahah practices tend to be excessively profit-driven, thereby risking the neglect of fundamental values such as justice (ʿadl) and public welfare (maṣlaḥah). Therefore, strengthening sharia supervision mechanisms and improving contractual implementation are necessary to ensure greater alignment with both Islamic legal principles and the broader objectives of Islamic banking.

Abstract

This article analyzes the relationship between ecological crisis and the construction of the human worldview, explaining how certain paradigms contribute to environmental degradation. Conceptually, ecological crisis and worldview  distinct entities; however, they are closely interconnected, as worldview functions as the primary driving force in shaping both social and moral continuity and transformation. Accordingly, human perception of the world generates actions, including responses to global ecological problems; thus, errors in worldview lead to inappropriate actions toward nature. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, drawing on a range of literature, both classical and contemporary, in both print and digital formats. The analysis is conducted through a conceptual exposition of worldview and ecological crisis, followed by an examination of their relationship. The findings indicate that the contemporary ecological crisis cannot be separated from the dominance of the Western secular worldview, which tends to position nature as an object of exploitation. As an alternative, this article proposes the Islamic worldview as a solution, which for more than 1,400 years has taught the principles of balance and responsibility toward nature. The concepts of iṣlāḥ (reform) and ifsād (corruption/destruction) serve as ethical foundations for establishing a harmonious relationship between humans and the environment. Furthermore, this study recommends that future research further develop and empirically examine the implementation of the Islamic paradigm as both a conceptual and practical approach to environmental preservation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the innovative BisaTa’aruf model developed by SPN, evaluate its normative and empirical implementation from the perspective of Islamic family law (fiqh al-munākahāt), and measure its effectiveness in supporting the realization of a harmonious family (sakinah, mawaddah, wa rahmah). The research employs a qualitative design with a normative-empirical approach, using field observations, structured interviews, and secondary data from digital publications and official documentation. The findings reveal three key innovations: (1) the mandatory premarital classes (Kelas Jadi Istri and Kelas Jadi Suami) that equip participants with spiritual, psychological, and financial readiness; (2) the facilitation of digital ta’aruf under the supervision of trained mediators or administrators as third parties; and (3) a flexible nadzar mechanism, conducted either online or offline, within the boundaries of Islamic law. From the perspective of fiqh, this model aligns with the principles of sadd al-dharī‘ah (blocking the means to immorality) and iḥtiyāt (caution), and has proven effective with more than 12,000 ta’aruf processes facilitated and 54 marriages successfully realized.
