Abstract

This study aims to describe the application, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive PowerPoint media in improving students' learning motivation in Civic Education (PPKn) on the topic of Gotong Royong (mutual cooperation) in Grade IV of SDN 1 Seulalah. This study used a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental Design method, specifically the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects were 25 Grade IV students of SDN 1 Seulalah in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, selected using total sampling. Data were collected through a learning motivation questionnaire consisting of 18 items based on six indicators proposed by Uno (2019), measured using a Likert scale. Data analysis used descriptive quantitative techniques by calculating mean scores, percentages, and the percentage of improvement. The results showed that: (1) the application of interactive PowerPoint media ran smoothly and in a structured manner, with students showing active and enthusiastic participation; (2) the interactive PowerPoint media was proven practical for both teachers and students; and (3) the use of interactive PowerPoint media was effective in improving students' learning motivation, indicated by an increase in the average motivation score from 41.28 (57.33%, Moderate category) in the pre-test to 52.28 (72.61%, High category) in the post-test, with a percentage increase of 26.64%. In addition, students' cooperative character after learning reached the Good category with an average percentage of 78.00%. These findings confirm that interactive PowerPoint media is a relevant and effective innovation in elementary school PPKn learning.

Abstract

Student character development is a fundamental aspect that significantly influences the formation of moral values, attitudes, and behavior of students in elementary schools. This study aims to describe a teaching approach that can encourage character development in elementary schools based on a review of several scientific publications. The study applies a qualitative method with a literature review approach, data collection through documentation studies, and data processing using content analysis that includes identification, comparison, and review of findings from various references. The results of the study identified four main approaches that have proven effective. First, instilling habits through consistent activities such as praying before studying, maintaining cleanliness, and implementing daily discipline. Second, the role model of teachers as figures who directly influence student behavior. Third, the insertion of character values integrated into the learning process. Fourth, the formation of a positive and conducive school climate and culture. The study concluded that learning strategies contribute significantly to shaping the character of elementary school students, and its success is largely determined by close collaboration between schools, teachers, families, and the community as a whole.
