Abstract

Childhood and adolescent obesity is an increasingly critical public health challenge in Indonesia. Among its contributing factors, sedentary lifestyle is often overlooked compared to nutritional aspects. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an informational campaign designed to promote active lifestyles as a strategy for obesity prevention among 4th and 5th-grade students in a suburban Jakarta school. The intervention was developed collaboratively with the school community, leveraging social marketing principles to ensure a theory-driven and effective approach. The half-day program included customized information delivery for children, outdoor games, and interactive sessions supported by teachers and staff. The evaluation employed both quantitative and qualitative methods through pre- and post-activity questionnaires, observations, and interviews. Results showed a significant increase in students’ knowledge about the benefits of physical activity, along with improved attitudes and intentions to adopt more active behaviours. Teachers also reported heightened awareness and integration of healthy habits into the school routine. The findings demonstrate that short-term informational interventions can yield meaningful outcomes in raising awareness and initiating behavioral change in children. This research provides a replicable early model for similar urban-fringe settings and highlights the importance of school-based initiatives in addressing childhood obesity.

Abstract

Abstract

Periodontal disease is a disease characterized by inflammation and degeneration of the soft tissues and bone supporting the teeth. The accumulation of plaque, tartar and calculus bacteria on the teeth is a local factor and the main cause of periodontal disease. Environmental factors also indirectly affect the incidence of periodontal disease. Geographic information systems (GIS) are tools used to work with data that has information about location. The research method used is descriptive observational with cross sectional design to determine the spread of periodontal disease based on determinant factors in Genuk Community Health Center Working Area, Semarang City. The study population comprised individuals diagnosed with periodontal disease at the Genuk Community Health Center. A simple random sampling technique, a probability sampling method, was used. The sample size, determined using the Slovin Formula, consisted of 92 respondents. Data collection involved questionnaires completed by participants and direct observation of oral hygiene. Spatial data, specifically coordinates of periodontal disease locations, were recorded using ArcGIS Earth Geographic Information System software. In light of the fact that no analogous studies have been carried out in this area, this research is projected to yield beneficial information regarding the dissemination of periodontal disease according to its determinants within the service area of the Genuk Community Health Center. The results of the research show that the spread of periodontal disease in the Genuk Community Health Center working area is uneven, with Genuksari Village having the highest number of cases and Terboyo Kulon Village having the lowest number of cases with majority of respondents consume artesian water as their main water source.

Abstract

The issue of HIV/AIDS among adolescents is still relatively high and has quite an impact on the reproductive health of adolescents themselves. Adolescents are at risk of having premarital sex so that HIV/AIDS transmission can occur. Adolescents are also an age group that uses a lot of social media to access all kinds of information, one of which is HIV/AIDS. So with this information, adolescents increasingly understand the importance of avoiding premarital sexual incidents. This study aims to explain whether or not there is a relationship between sources of HIV/AIDS information obtained by adolescents and premarital sexual knowledge. This study uses a cross-sectional design with the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique to 136 respondents (adolescents). Data collection uses instruments that have been tested valid and reliable through Spearman’s Rho Correlation. There is a relationship between sources of HIV/AIDS information and premarital sexual knowledge in adolescents with a p-value < alpha. It turns out that sources of HIV/AIDS information are related to premarital sexual knowledge because adolescents can avoid premarital sexual incidents to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.
