Abstract

Parents have the most influence on the success of a child's development. However, many parents do not realize how important the role of parents is in shaping the personality of their children, especially in the era of information technology. Many parents fully entrust their children's education to school institutions without any good synergy between educational institutions and parents in children's education. Communication technology can bring both opportunities and distance to the relationship between parents and the environment with children. The challenge for parents to play an active role in improving the quality of education for early childhood in particular, because parents are the closest people to children. The existence of technology does not mean that children are given the freedom to enjoy all the technological facilities available, but they should be able to utilize technology to improve children's self-quality and prepare strong generations based on families. Keywords: Role, Parents, Information Technology Era, Early Childhood

Abstract

The world of IT market has experienced fast growth by9.7% worth US$ 527.9 billion (Rp 5.015,1 trillion) in 1995, but still IT value realization is questioned with the advent of IT Productivity Paradox phenomenon. In 2002, Gartner survey stated that 20 to 70% IT investment worth US$ 600 billion (Rp6,315.8  trillion)  was  wasted.  However,  the  phenomenon  was fading  with the  rise  of  IT governance  and  management  field, including IT investment management best-practice. Latest research from PwC and ITGI in 2011 has shown that the practice brought 27.1% increased value and 28.1% improved business competitiveness. Recently, PT. Pegadaian (Persero) has planned to invest on a new centralized real-time online Enterprise System. Considering this is a large scale IT investment which estimated TCO is around Rp 1.1 trillion (16% of Total Gross Revenue and 1100% of Total Investment in 2011), while the world historical data has shown many of its failures, in fact Pegadaian itself has experienced ES implementation failure in 2009-2011 which has wasted significant resources, therefore the management is very concerned   about   how   to   prevent   project   failures   while maximizing the value from it. The author has proposed the combination use of strategic alignment, risk control and real options valuation methods which enhanced the conventional investment  analysis  methods  such  as  IRR,  NPV,  ROI  and Payback Period to solve Pegadaian’s problem. This paper result showed that the combination of those methods has maximized the value of IT investment by making sure that the investment is aligned with business objectives, able to control its risks and offered managerial flexibility through viable investment option configurations which maximizing the value. Abstract

Abstract – Bank Central Asia is one of the biggest private bank in Indonesia and is known for the its most innovative information technology service. Future banking competition will definitely require information technology as the main element. Branchless banking, digital channel, mobile banking are all IT related banking service which will be the next trend. In todays business, competitive advantage and technology are easily imitated by the competitors, and change happens very frequent and fast. Bank Central Asia should invest in its organization capabilities instead of gaining competitive advantage in its business model and strategies to adapt the very fast changing business environment. In the future, innovation in IT banking services will not dominantly be totally new products but in the form of process or service innovation. With the high demand of process based IT projects, more demand from business units to deliver variative, parallel, and complex IT related projects, GSIT as the IT division in Bank Central Asia has to adapt itself with the upcoming business needs and business environment. To grow and adapt itself with the process innovation environment, GSIT as an organization has to place itself in the business process level mindset, not the functional or products based organization structure. To absorb abundant IT projects with specific requirements and characteristics and to be self directed with minimal intervention from managements, GSIT needs to adopt team based organization concept with balanced and proper team and job design. The holistic framework of process and team based organization is hoped  to accommodate resources management in GSIT which is now growing into a massive IT organization. For the transformation to process and team based organization be successful and effective, strategic and sound implementation plan with short implementation duration and proper evaluation framework is designed along with skilled, competent, and experienced agent of changes such as senior IT managers, senior HCM managers, external OD consultants, business solution unit, and project management unit. Abstract

Abstract - Business role in the ICT industry can be divided into three categories, the manufacturer of the ICT product, distributor who distributed hardware from manufacturer to the reseller or end-user, and the service integrator who deliver ICT product to the end-user. In its development, the distributor is not only distributed the product but also adding value to its product. Some of the value are educated the reseller or end user about the product, doing market research, and providing after sales services to manage user satisfaction. That type of distributor is called Value Added Distributor (VAD). VAD play significant role in the development of ICT Industry. From the manufacturer perspective VAD can boost the product penetration because it is cut the cost of marketing. From the reseller perspective it gives them focus to the existing product to serve and rely to VAD for new product development. From the user perspective it can cut the delivery time because the VAD provide some stock. There are lots of VAD that operate and competing in Indonesia, one of them is PT Helios Distributor Indonesia (HDI). As a new company that established in 2012, HDI facing though condition from the existing VAD. Therefore HDI must formulize the business strategy in order to grow and win the competition. From the research analysis base on PEST writer found that Indonesia still has opportunity for VAD to operate in Indonesia, since the requirement and the regulation of Indonesian government that supporting ICT industry. Focus differentiation for the new product and focus cost differentiation for the mature product is the business level strategy that writer propose for HDI. In term of core competency writer propose 3 core competencies: core competency in term of ability to provide total solution for the customer, ability to build strategic alliance, and ability to analyst market requirement and technology trend forecasting.  Keyword: value added distributor, business level strategy, core competency
