Abstract

This research aims to analyze the dynamics of central government policies in the development of Islamic education facilities and infrastructure and to uncover the paradox between established regulations and their implementation in the field. This research uses a qualitative approach with the library research method. Data were obtained from government policy documents, legislation, and relevant journal articles and scientific books related to education policy and the management of Islamic educational facilities and infrastructure. Data analysis was conducted descriptively-analytically through a conceptual meta-analysis approach to identify policy patterns, implementation trends, and their implications for Islamic educational institutions. The research results indicate that, normatively, the central government's policies regarding the development of Islamic education facilities and infrastructure are in line with the mandate of laws and regulations and National Education Standards. However, at the implementation level, policy paradoxes are still found, characterized by weak coordination between the central and regional governments in the context of regional autonomy. This condition often leaves madrasahs in a vacuum of responsibility, resulting in suboptimal fulfillment and management of facilities and infrastructure. The difficulties of digitizing learning, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, have made the gaps in infrastructure and technological literacy in Islamic schools even more clear.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that the use of digital media that is not optimal and less varied such as when explaining lessons is only supported by youtube media without any editing, this is because teachers are often burdened with high administration and workload, so that they find it difficult to spend time learning and integrating digital media into the teaching process This research aims to To produce interactive media based on articulate storylines that are valid, practical and effective in fiqh subjects of Hajj and Umrah material class VIII MTsN Agam. The research uses the Four-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) model. The test subjects amounted to 23 students with interactive media objects based on articulate storyline. The results of the study show that the media developed is valid, very practical, and effective. Practicality from a student's perspective reached 92.87% (very practical category). Effectiveness was proven through a paired t-test between pretest–posttest with t-count = 9.27 > t-table = 2.074 (df = 22; α = 0.05), so that there is a significant difference in learning outcomes after using media. This finding confirms that the interactive media developed is feasible to support the achievement of fiqh learning goals in Hajj and Umrah materials at the MTsN 8 Agam level.

Abstract

Islamic education programs operate within complex educational environments that demand both measurable accountability and the preservation of Islamic moral spiritual values, creating distinctive challenges for program evaluation. This study aims to critically synthesize and conceptualize scholarly perspectives on the evaluation of Islamic education programs by examining their underlying principles, dominant frameworks, and implementation practices. Employing a conceptual and narrative literature review design, relevant studies published between 2018 and 2025 in internationally indexed and nationally accredited journals were purposively selected and thematically analyzed to identify convergent and divergent patterns. The findings reveal that evaluation practices in Islamic education remain largely dominated by outcome-based and accountability-driven models, often driven by external quality assurance and accreditation requirements, which inadequately represent holistic educational aims such as ethical formation and spiritual development. At the same time, the literature consistently emphasizes value-based evaluation principles grounded in Islamic educational philosophy, including holistic human development, moral accountability, and maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, yet these principles are rarely operationalized within coherent evaluative frameworks.

Abstract

Islamic education institutions are increasingly required to demonstrate graduate quality that reflects both strong religious values and competitive competencies in contemporary social and labor contexts. This study aims to critically evaluate the scholarly literature on Islamic education management and its contribution to graduate quality improvement. Adopting a narrative and evaluative literature review approach, this article synthesizes theoretical and empirical studies published between 2019 and 2025 in internationally indexed journals and reputable national journals. The analysis reveals that effective Islamic education management particularly value-based and transformational leadership, integrated curriculum management, and outcome-oriented quality assurance plays a significant role in enhancing graduate quality. However, the findings also indicate persistent challenges, including compliance driven evaluation practices, fragmented outcome assessment, and limited empirical linkage between management interventions and graduate centered indicators. The discussion highlights the need for more integrative evaluative frameworks that connect managerial effectiveness with holistic graduate outcomes encompassing intellectual competence, ethical formation, and employability. This study contributes by offering evaluative insights that clarify conceptual fragmentation in the literature and identify priority areas for future research.

Abstract

The success of extracurricular activity management is largely determined by the principal's leadership. The principal not only serves as a policy administrator but also as a key actor in mobilizing all school resources to ensure the effective and sustainable running of extracurricular activities. One of the principal's strategic roles is as a facilitator, ensuring the availability of facilities, infrastructure, policy support, and access to internal and external school resources. The development of students’ interests and talents through extracurricular activities is an integral part of education oriented toward character building and non-academic skills, in which the success of implementation is strongly influenced by the school principal’s leadership as a facilitator. This qualitative case study describes the principal’s role, challenges, and solutions in developing students’ interests and talents through extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjung Jabung Barat using interviews, observations, and documentation analyzed with the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings indicate that the principal actively facilitates extracurricular activities through the provision of facilities, policy support, and coordination with teachers, while addressing limitations in facilities, budget, and teachers’ workload through adaptive and contextual leadership strategies.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of implementing the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on seventh-grade students’ Aqidah learning outcomes at MTs Muhammadiyah 3 Masaran in the 2024/2025 academic year. Methods: A quantitative pre-experimental approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was applied to 36 students. Data were gathered using a 20-item objective Aqidah test (pretest and posttest) and a 20-item Likert questionnaire measuring CTL implementation. The questionnaire showed good internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.872). Data normality was assessed using Shapiro–Wilk and differences were tested using a paired-samples t-test. CTL implementation was perceived at medium-to-high levels. Pretest and posttest scores were normally distributed (p=0.075; p=0.081). The mean score increased from 81.00 to 91.14. After the intervention, 75% of students were in the high achievement category and none were in the low category. The paired t-test indicated a significant improvement (t=-7.533, p<0.001, df=35) with a mean gain of 10.14 points and a 95% confidence interval of [-12.871, -7.407]. CTL strengthens engagement through inquiry, collaborative learning, faith-based modeling, reflection, and authentic assessment. By linking doctrinal concepts with everyday situations, students can develop more meaningful understanding and internalize Aqidah values beyond rote memorization.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of the planning and organizing strategies implemented by the Principal of SMKN 1 Plupuh. The main focus is evaluating data-based strategic management and strengthening work culture to achieve National Education Standards (SNP) to improve the quality of school education. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with the Principal and management team, direct observation of managerial activities, and document studies of quality report cards and the School Budget Work Plan. Data analysis compares field practices with POAC educational management theory. Findings indicate that planning begins with team coordination for data-based quality report card analysis and program priorities. Organizational development involves the formation of adaptive functional work teams such as the Internal Quality Assurance Team, with clear delegation of authority, SOPs, and job descriptions. Despite success, challenges include limited budgets from BOS/BOP funds and the consistency of the monitoring system. The novelty of this research is the integration of digital quality report card-based planning analysis with the collaborative work culture typical of SMKN 1 Plupuh Sragen Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school principals in implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic educational institutions. The implementation of TQM is essential as Islamic schools are required to continuously improve the quality of educational services in order to meet stakeholders’ expectations and remain competitive. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, involving the school principal as the key informant, supported by teachers and educational staff. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the school principal plays a strategic role in the implementation of TQM through the formulation of quality-oriented vision and policies, the development of a quality culture, the empowerment of human resources, and the execution of continuous evaluation and improvement. Effective leadership in TQM implementation has a positive impact on the quality of learning processes, teachers’ performance, and public trust in Islamic educational institutions. The novelty of this study lies in revealing a contextual model of TQM implementation that is integrated with Islamic values, contributing to the development of quality-based leadership in Islamic education.

Abstract

Cultural learning for deaf students requires strategies that emphasize visual, contextual, and meaningful aspects, particularly by utilizing local wisdom of the area where students live, such as the local wisdom of Bojonegoro Regency. One relevant approach is Visual Semantic Mapping (VSM), a visual map-based learning strategy that systematically connects main concepts with subconcepts. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of local wisdom-based Visual Semantic Mapping as a cultural learning strategy for deaf students. The method used is a descriptive qualitative study with a literature study approach and learning observations. The results of the study indicate that the application of local wisdom-based VSM can improve the understanding of cultural concepts, enrich visual vocabulary, and encourage the active involvement of deaf students in learning. This strategy also helps students connect cultural materials with real experiences in their surroundings. Thus, local wisdom-based Visual Semantic Mapping can be used as an alternative inclusive and effective cultural learning strategy for deaf students.

Abstract

This study explores the transformation of mathematical thinking awareness among mathematics education students through a phenomenological lens. Thirty undergraduate students in the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Tapanuli Selatan participated as research subjects selected through purposive sampling. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews, participatory observations, and reflective documentation, and analyzed using Colaizzi’s descriptive phenomenological method. The findings demonstrate a three-stage transformation of awareness: epistemic, metacognitive, and ontological. Epistemically, students shifted from memorizing formulas toward conceptual understanding driven by meaningful learning needs. Metacognitively, errors, reflective dialogue, and self-explanation triggered deeper strategic awareness, revealing the role of regulation and emotional control in sustaining understanding. Ontologically, mathematics became integrated into students’ self-identity as future educators, shaping how they perceive learning as part of lifelong intellectual and personal development. Taken together, students no longer view mathematics merely as procedural knowledge but as a way of thinking that guides interpretation, reasoning, and awareness of learning processes.
