Abstract

The Jam Gadang area in Bukittinggi City serves as the tourism epicentre and the primary driver of the regional economy in West Sumatra. Post-pandemic infrastructure modernization, spatial restructuring, and massive digitalization have triggered significant socio-economic transformations for the surrounding local merchant community. This study aims to analyze the socio-economic characteristics and dissect the forms of transformation occurring among merchants in the Jam Gadang area. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through passive participant observation, documentary studies, and in-depth interviews with various merchant typologies (apparel, culinary, mobile fruit vendors, and general commodities). The results indicate that the current merchant profile is dominated by productive-age individuals with upper-secondary education and high technological adaptability. Economic transformation is highly evident in the mass migration toward digital payment systems (QRIS) and omnichannel marketing (social media), which has successfully driven upward vertical mobility for apparel and souvenir food vendors. However, this transformation has also induced economic inequality (income degradation) for tech-illiterate non-souvenir merchants, alongside the restriction of social spaces for mobile informal vendors due to the enforcement of zoning regulations. Despite tightening competition, the persistence of social capital rooted in Minangkabau kinship values through market associations proves to be a critical safety valve for merchant resilience. The Bukittinggi Municipal Government is advised to formulate humane spatial policies and inclusive digital literacy assistance to ensure that the growth of the tourism sector is equitably distributed.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the literacy program at SD Negeri Kenep 01 Sukoharjo using the Goal-Free Evaluation (GFE) model developed by Michael Scriven. Employing a qualitative approach with a program evaluation design, the study focuses on identifying the actual impacts of the program without relying on its predetermined objectives. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis and were analyzed using an interactive process of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the literacy program achieved its intended outcomes by improving students’ reading interest, writing skills, and Indonesian language learning achievement. In addition, the evaluation identified several unintended impacts, both positive and negative. Positive outcomes included the development of a stronger literacy culture within the school, the enhancement of students’ positive character traits, and increased parental involvement in supporting literacy activities. Conversely, unintended negative impacts included student boredom and an additional workload for teachers. These findings demonstrate that the Goal-Free Evaluation model provides a more comprehensive understanding of program effectiveness than objective-based approaches and offers valuable insights for strengthening internal evaluation mechanisms, diversifying reading materials, improving teacher capacity, and fostering stronger partnerships between schools and families to ensure the sustainability of literacy programs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Regional Original Revenue (PAD) and Balancing Funds (DP) on Economic Growth in West Sumatra Province. The data used are panel data from 12 regencies and 7 cities during the period 2022–2024 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The analytical method used is panel data regression with the Panel Least Squares approach. The results show that Regional Original Revenue has a positive but insignificant effect on economic growth, with a coefficient value of 0.000817 and a probability value of 0.0625. Likewise, Balancing Funds have a positive but insignificant effect on economic growth with a coefficient value of 0.000378 and a probability value of 0.7369. Simultaneously, PAD and DP do not significantly affect economic growth, as indicated by the Prob(F-statistic) value of 0.1706. The coefficient of determination (R-squared) is 0.063, indicating that only 6.3% of the variation in economic growth can be explained by PAD and DP, while the remaining 93.7% is influenced by other factors outside the model. These findings indicate that economic growth in West Sumatra is not solely determined by regional revenue and balancing funds but is also influenced by other economic factors.

Abstract

Most educational institutions still view preparations for the start of the school year as merely administrative routines, such as developing teaching materials and assigning tasks. This approach risks leading to unprepared teachers and poor coordination between departments. This study aims to analyze the implementation of strategies for preparing for the new school year at PPIA Baitul Maal and to formulate a robust conceptual management model for Islamic schools. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data collection was conducted from April to July 2025 through participatory observation, analysis of institutional documents, and in-depth interviews involving 9 key informants ranging from strategic leadership to educational staff. Data analysis applied the interactive model Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, whose validity was validated through triangulation. The research findings revealed that preparations were executed in a structured manner through five essential stages: organizational structuring, curriculum development, strengthening quality assurance, scaling up human resource capacity, and operational finalization. These findings led to the formulation of the Start Strong School Preparation Model. As a concrete recommendation, educational institution leaders are advised to adopt the SSSPM into their Annual Work Plan cycle to mitigate managerial inefficiencies and build a sustainable quality ecosystem before academic year begins.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze how classroom management functions as a social mechanism in reproducing social values and shaping students' religious habitus. Using Pierre Bourdieu's theory of habitus, capital, and social reproduction, the study examines how classroom routines, rules, spatial arrangements, and teacher interactions contribute to the internalization of religious values among students. Methods: This research employed a qualitative approach with a critical ethnography design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and reflective field notes involving teachers, students, and school leaders at SD Negeri 1 Bojong, Wangon District. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, while validity was ensured through triangulation and member checking. Results: The findings reveal that classroom management serves not only as a pedagogical tool but also as a mechanism for social and religious value reproduction. Daily routines such as collective prayers, Qur'anic recitation, dhuha prayer, rotating religious speeches, gratitude journals, inclusive classroom regulations, mentoring programs, and teacher role-modeling contribute significantly to the formation of students' religious habitus. These practices also foster social values including discipline, responsibility, tolerance, empathy, cooperation, and anti-bullying attitudes. Novelty: This study demonstrates that social reproduction within classroom management does not necessarily reinforce inequality, as suggested by classical reproduction theory. Instead, it can produce an inclusive religious habitus that integrates spiritual commitment with social-humanistic values through equitable and inclusive classroom practices.

Abstract

This research aims to explore in depth the implementation of Human Resource Development (HRD) in the enhancement of the Adiwiyata Program. The research was conducted at MTs Al-Hikam Jombang from November 2025 to April 2026. The research method employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, accompanied by analysis and data validity testing. The results indicate that HRD at MTs Al-Hikam Jombang is implemented through training and development, organizational learning, leadership development, and knowledge management. These various forms of development successfully enhanced the knowledge, skills, abilities, competencies, and performance of the madrasah community in driving improvements to the Adiwiyata Program across policy, curriculum, instruction, activities, partnerships, facilities and infrastructure, and achievement of awards up to the Mandiri level, as well as the program’s sustainability at the international level through Al-Hikam Edu Tourism. In several cases, the success of the Adiwiyata program is largely determined by the quality of human resources. Previous studies have extensively examined HRD but have rarely linked it to this program or vice versa. Therefore, these factors emphasize the importance and novelty of this research.

Abstract

Chad faces significant challenges in implementing inclusive education despite its commitment to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). Less than 5% of children with disabilities have access to formal education, highlighting the urgent need for effective support structures. This study aims to describe the current state of inclusive education in Chad, identify the main barriers to its implementation, and propose an organizational model for a Resource Center for Inclusive Education (RCIE). A descriptive-propositional qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through 12 semi-structured online interviews involving teachers, school principals, Ministry of Education officials, families of children with disabilities, and civil society representatives in N'Djamena. Data were analyzed using Taguette software through thematic coding and categorization. The findings revealed four major categories of barriers: institutional, pedagogical, material, and sociocultural. Participants emphasized the need for teacher training, adapted educational resources, intersectoral coordination, and community awareness programs. Based on the IPOF framework and Self-Determination Theory, the study proposes eight organizational propositions for the development of an RCIE adapted to the Chadian context.

Abstract

This research seeks to examine how educational management contributes to establishing a conducive learning atmosphere for children at RA Ahsanu Amala Nyamplungsari. A qualitative descriptive design was employed, with data gathered through interview with the school principal and document analysis. The collected information was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman framework, consisting of data redaction, data display, and conclusion formulation. The results reveal that the core management functions-planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation-have been effectively carried out to foster a positive learning environment. Planning involves grouping students based on age and developmental level. Organization involves assigning tasks to teachers and class arrangements. Learning is implemented using the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka), incorporating icebreaking activities, teaching religious values, and providing motivation to students. Evaluations are conducted regularly to monitor student progress and improve the learning process. Thus, the implementation of educational management plays a significant role in helping create a safe, comfortable, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for early childhood.
