Abstract

This research is based on the still problematic confusion of basic reading lecturers to determine the weakness of students in understanding basic reading so that there are still a number of students who are completely weak in the analysis of discourse content and have not been detected clearly. Diagnostic assessment to find out the weaknesses of students in understanding basic reading in the third semester students of of Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Blitar is applied in this study. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative method. data collection technique in this study is using interview technique. In this study, the source of the data is the third semester Basic Reading Lecturer at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Blitar. The results show that the strong desire of the third semester basic reading lecturers at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Blitar to use Diagnostic assessment resulted from several factors, namely: a) easy to understand student's ability in reading analysis, and b) easy factor to know the weaknesses of students in understanding reading. From the description above it can be concluded that Diagnostic assessment is an appropriate facility for lecturers to find out the weaknesses of students who are the top priority in learning outcomes.

Abstract

Planning and fostering literature in Indonesia is very important as an effort to preserve it, especially regional literature and develop its existence. This is important because literature has a noble function, namely voicing the heart and phenomena that occur in society. We see that the development of literature in Indonesia such as "living reluctantly to death does not want", is in a situation and condition of concern. Attention from the government and the community is still very minimal. Even though literature in Indonesia still seems to exist, it is solely due to literary activists, both individuals and communities who still care and love literature. This presents a challenge. Challenges in planning and developing literature in Indonesia. It is time for literary issues in Indonesia to be seriously designed by involving people or people who have concerns. Does not always depend on the country. Therefore, independence is needed in discussing the planning and development of literature in Indonesia. In this case the direct involvement of activists / local literary communities is needed. This thinking originated from several existing communities and can survive and even flourish in producing writers and developing literary works in Indonesia. Thus, it is not impossible if the Local Literature Community will provide encouraging results on the development of literature in Indonesia.

Abstract

Cooking oil is a vegetable oil as a glyceride compound from various fatty acids. Cooking oil can be used up to 3-4 times for cooking. If cooking oil is used repeatedly, the fatty acids will be more saturated and can change color. The waste cooking oil is said to have been damaged and is not good for consumption and can pollute the environment. Appropriate technology is a technology designed for a particular society to be adapted to environmental, political, cultural, social, and economics aspects. The purpose of appropriate technology is to be able to save money, be easy to maintain, and minimize costs to the community. The appropriate technology in this study aims to facilitate the production process of making soap or can also achieve the desired goals effectively in a place or production. The results of this research are mixer and soap products, which are mixers made from used materials to be used as soap making tools. For the processing of soap products, cooking oil waste is used, which is known that the cost of production per soap bar is Rp578.00. Researchers sell it at a price of Rp1,000.00. The Break Event Point (BEP) value is 200 bars of soap per year or Rp200,000.00. Net Present Value (NPV) in 4 years is Rp9,498,061.00, and the Return of Investment (ROI) from the payback period is 0.9 months.

Abstract

This study aims to solve problems related to the policy of Teacher Professional Development (TPD) program. This research produces a syllabus of in-office TPD for the German language to solve problems faced in the field; it is necessary to provide provision and preparation for lecturers so that the preparation and implementation of learning have the same standards and goals and the percentage of pedagogic material is more than the professional content. Meanwhile the composition of the competency test is otherwise. In this study, a new policy of TPD is formulated based on 21st century competencies and 21st century learning models that have been successfully applied in Australia, namely a life skills-based learning approach, or known as life- based learning. This framework has become the flagship program for learning innovation at the State University of Malang. The research employed a research and development method that begins with problem identification or problem formulation. The syllabus design is created and developed based on performance and needs analysis, and oriented to the principles of teacher training in the 21st century. These principles are reflected in the syllabus which contains pegadodic competences, professional competence, the ability to use digital media through blended learning and digital-based learning. Based on the results of the validation by German learning experts and suggestions from users, it can be concluded that the PPG German syllabus design is feasible to use. Nevertheless, it is necessary to refine the time allocation according to the needs and clarity of evaluation and assessment.

Abstract

Security and confidentiality of documents stored on a computer is an important aspect in the field of computer or information system security. Documents will no longer be useful if they are intercepted or hijacked by unauthorized people, they will even endanger the document owner, if documents containing important information are misused by irresponsible people. Therefore the documents on the computer must be preserved so that they are only accepted and used by interested persons. One of the solutions to prevent eavesdropping of documents is to use cryptography. This study aims to increase cryptographic complexity using a combination of hill cipher algorithms and block chaining cipher modes. The combination of the two methods is expected to be able to cover the shortcomings of each method so that the cryptographic complexity can be increased. The method in this study consists of two stages, namely the document encryption and document decryption stages. The encryption stage is to change the plaintext document into a ciphertext document, on the other hand, the decryption stage is to change the ciphertext document back into a plaintext document. The stages for document encryption include; 1) retrieve plain text messages in the document so that they can be processed by the system (parsing); 2) encryption to convert plaintext documents into ciphertext documents using the hill cipher algorithm; 3) encryption to convert plaintext documents into cipher text documents using cipher block chaining mode. While the methods for decryption are 1) taking the ciphertext message in the document so that it can be processed by the system (parsing); 2) decryption to convert ciphertext documents into plaintext documents using cipher block chaining mode; 3) decryption to convert ciphertext documents into plaintext documents using a hill cipher.

Abstract

Local wisdom included cultural patterns of interpretation of certain localities, pure values, and unwritten norms, which serve the social life of a community and environment to regulate. The head of the ethnic groups in the community makeup but worries that the local wisdom are in danger lost to go. This article describes the current state of local wisdom as a cultural pattern of interpretation on the Luang Island - Indonesia. In addition, the manners, customs, and traditions of the community on the island are observed and an interview with four teenagers and ahead of the community is performed. The results of the observation and the interview are then presented and analyzed. The analysis has shown the following: (a) there are several local wisdom, which the harmony of the life of the community on the Luang island and the environment build may, for example, "urgeni, te'wa, hrukwu mnyota, hlili mnyota, lyola" (b) the local wisdom has one long tradition in the community. However, this seems lost to go because of the way of life of the local population. As a result, the valuable wisdom is in a “culture shift” situation. The local wisdom should to be used in the classroom, so that students as young generation be sensitized and note taking this wisdom.
