Abstract

The minimum competency assessment (Asesmen Kompetensi Minimum / AKM) is an assessment of the basic competencies of Indonesian learners. The AKM consists of test questions that are created by teachers. Self-competence and critical thinking of the learner are to be emphasized by these test questions. The AKM instrument comprises two basic skills, namely reading skills and mathematical skills (numeric). The aim of this study is to find out the difficulty of Indonesian German teachers in preparing for reading competence exams and to describe the AKM test questions for learning German at high school (SMA / MA) in Indonesia. This study used a descriptive-qualitative method with questionnaire as the data collection technique. The data is Indonesian German teachers (20 teachers) difficulty in reading exam preparation and the AKM test questions they had been created. Based on the data result of the questionnaire, it is found that most teachers have had difficulty creating questions about the content of the text that encourage critical thinking of the learners. In addition, the validation results of the AKM test questions show that the text selection should be adapted to the goals to be achieved. The tasks related to the text should be able to improve the productive skills of the learner, e.g. graphic form. The selected text should contain a lot of information and the answer options should not be so easy to choose. The results of this research are intended to provide information for Indonesian German teachers so that they can create AKM test questions that encourage critical thinking skills of the learners. This can then develop the learner's reading skills.

Abstract

The actualization of learning materials needs to be done to create a learning situation that is under the times. In learning German as a foreign language, the concept of DACHL has not been well recognized by every German teacher at the SMA / MA / SMK level. For this reason, adjustments to learning materials, techniques, and learning strategies are considered important so that the German learning process does not only train language skills but also fosters a cross-cultural understanding of these countries and the Indonesian nation itself. This article attempts to describe the results of training activities for the preparation of cross-cultural learning designs for German language teachers at the SMA / MA / SMK levels throughout Malang and its surroundings. This training implementation method which is accommodated in community service activities is designed by adopting an education and training system for ASN, namely on campus and off-campus. Despite undergoing method modifications as a result of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, training is going well. With simultaneous mentoring, collaboration, and collaboration between various parties, participants can receive the material well and simultaneously apply it in the form of a learning design.

Abstract

Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kendaladalam penerapan kurikulum yang telah dikembangkan oleh Prodi S1 Pendidikan Bahasa J­­erman (PSPBJ) Universitas Negeri Malang dalam meningkatkan kompetensi lulusan sesuai dengan standar dan kebutuhan masyarakat di era globalisasi dan revolusi industi 4.0. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang menjadi kendala dalam implementasi kurikulum yang berkaitan dengan standar kebahasaan, pengembangan kurikulum yang terlalu menekankan pada konsep/teori, kurangnya riset untuk menganalisi kebutuhan pasar dan mahasiswa, kualitas dosen, dan belum adanya benchmarking. Untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut, dipaparkan beberapa pendapat dan saran berdasarkan  hasil diskusi forum dan angket oleh pemangku kepentingan yang perlu diperhatikan untuk meningkatkan kualitas lulusan PSPBJ.

Abstract

This study aims to solve problems related to the policy of Teacher Professional Development (TPD) program. This research produces a syllabus of in-office TPD for the German language to solve problems faced in the field; it is necessary to provide provision and preparation for lecturers so that the preparation and implementation of learning have the same standards and goals and the percentage of pedagogic material is more than the professional content. Meanwhile the composition of the competency test is otherwise. In this study, a new policy of TPD is formulated based on 21st century competencies and 21st century learning models that have been successfully applied in Australia, namely a life skills-based learning approach, or known as life- based learning. This framework has become the flagship program for learning innovation at the State University of Malang. The research employed a research and development method that begins with problem identification or problem formulation. The syllabus design is created and developed based on performance and needs analysis, and oriented to the principles of teacher training in the 21st century. These principles are reflected in the syllabus which contains pegadodic competences, professional competence, the ability to use digital media through blended learning and digital-based learning. Based on the results of the validation by German learning experts and suggestions from users, it can be concluded that the PPG German syllabus design is feasible to use. Nevertheless, it is necessary to refine the time allocation according to the needs and clarity of evaluation and assessment.

Abstract

The one-page lesson plan (LP) is one of four new policies announced by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture several years ago. LP is prepared so that teachers have plenty of time to prepare and evaluate the learning process. The training on how to design a one-page LP provides new experiences for teachers, who are members of the German Teachers Association (IGBJI) in Malang. Based on the results of the questionnaire, more than half of the participants stated that the design of the one-page LP was easier than the old one because the new design had components that were more concise and streamlined, made it efficient in many ways. Although the teachers still have shortcomings, but in general, it can be stated that the use of a one-page LP can help teachers to have an orientation in teaching.

Abstract

Kesalahan dan koreksi kesalahan adalah dua hal yang penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing. Seperti yang terjadi pada umumnya bahwa koreksi kesalahan tulis dianggap jauh lebih tidak bermasalah dibandingkan dengan koreksi dalam keterampilan berbicara. Penelitian ini diperlukan untuk mengetahui kesalahan-kesalahan berbicara dan koreksi kesalahan yang dilakukan dosen serta implikasi koreksi terhadap mahasiswa dalam matakuliah Konversation II di Jurusan Sastra Jerman Universitas Negeri Malang. Beberapa kesalahan dianggap tidak perlu dikoreksi atau bisa diabaikan dengan mempertimbangkan tingkat kemampuan berbahasa mahasiswayang  berada pada tingkatan kemampuan berbahasa Jerman pemula A2 standar kemampuan berbahasa Jerman Eropa (GER). Oleh sebab itu toleransi kesalahan pada tingkatan ini masih dianggap relatif tinggi, sehingga banyak kesalahan yang masih bisa diabaikan.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the learning process using project based learning model combined with storyline learning technique and the students’ responses towards the learning model. This research was conducted online through WhatsApp  in the class XI IBB SMAN 6 Malang which consists of 12 students.  This is a descriptive qualitative research using observation and questionnaires as data collection techniques. The research results showed that the implementation of Project Based Learning model combined with Storyline learning technique went well and got  positive responses from the students. Through this learning, students are actively involved in learning activities during the German writing class and it can help students  solving  the existing problems and also can help them expressing their ideas in form of written texts.

Abstract

The implementation of EDDU as a source of ideas for digital German language teachingIn the industrial revolution 4.0 era, digital media is an important instrument in all aspects, including in the field of education. Twenty first century teachers are required to have the abilities and skills to utilize media, including digital media. This study aims to provide information for German language teachers and find out their perceptions of the use of Erfolgreich Digital Deutsch Unterrichten (EDDU) media in the learning process. EDDU is an internet-based digital media in the form of learning package, containing materials and learning steps such as games or quizzes. This study implemented a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations, Forum Group Discussion (FGD), and questionnaires, resulting in qualitative and quantitative data that were described descriptively. The study involved German teachers in Malang, Indonesia.  Results of the study indicates that EDDU can be used as a multimedia alternative. It offers teaching ideas and materials that can help teachers to prepare their lessons and present the materials. By using EDDU, German language teachers are able to improve the convenience in their teaching. EDDU is shown to have followed Indonesian high schools syllabus, the materials in EDDU have provided supports for online learning. Oleh karena itu, guru abad 21 dituntut untuk memiliki kemampuan dan kecakapan dalam memanfaatkan media, termasuk media digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi kepada guru bahasa Jerman dan mengetahui persepsi mereka terhadap penggunaan media digital Erfolgreich Digital Deutsch Unterrichten (EDDU) dalam pembelajaran. EDDU merupakan media berbasis internet berupa paket pembelajaran yang berisi materi dan langkah-langkah pembelajaran dalam bentuk permainan atau kuis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan datanya menggunakan observasi, FGD, dan angket yang menghasilkan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif, serta dipaparkan secara deskriptif. Sumber datanya adalah guru bahasa Jerman di Malang, Indonesia. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa media EDDU dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif multimedia. EDDU menawarkan ide mengajar dan materi-materi yang dapat membantu guru menyiapkan pembelajaran dan menyampaikan materi. Dengan menggunakan EDDU, guru bahasa Jerman mendapatkan kemudahan dalam mengajar. Materi dalam EDDU sesuai dengan silabus Sekolah Menengah Atas atau Madrasah Aliyah. Materi yang diberikan mendukung pembelajaran online, dan kegiatan dengan menggunakan EDDU dapat membuat kelas lebih aktif dan menarik.Kata kunci: EDDU, multimedia, bahasa Jerman, daF

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to figure out the effectiveness of Struk- turierte Textwiedergabe in helping students majoring in German Literature at Un- iversitas Negeri Malang improve their ability in writing the texts they read. To rec- ognize the improvement, the researcher applied classroom action research. This re- search attempted to examine and reflect on some aspects in learning process. The aspects  include  lecturer s  performance,  lecturer-student  interaction,  and  student- student interaction. The researcher found that the teaching and learning of writing using Strukturierte Textwiedergabe can enhance the quality of the learning process and the students' achievement. Each cycle indicates similar students' achievement. The lowest achievements occurred in the second cycle, while the highest occurred in the third cycle. Generally, the teaching and learning of writing using Strukturierte Textwiedergabe can be used to improve students' writing ability

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe student responses in learning activities, the problems that students facing, and the factors causing the problem to the online learning process using the Zoom Cloud Meeting application. The data sources for this study were 29 German high school seniors at SMA LABORATORIUM UM who were at the language level equivalent to A1 GER. Data obtained are from observation, closed questionnaires, and interviews, with the type of qualitative descriptive research. The results of the study indicate that several problems have the potential to hinder the online learning process of senior high school students in German language classes, such as technical obstacles to using, technical internet connections, and the other problems that limit the access of students to the full-featured zoom application that hinders the learning process from running optimally.
