Abstract

Children under five years old is the age group most vulnerable to several health problems. It is important to evaluate the impact of infancy condition on their physical growth.  This research aimed to examine the impact of infancy condition on the physical growth of children under-five years old. The unmatched case-control study was conducted in Puskesmas Griya Antapani areas, Bandung from May to July, 2023. A total of 112 children aged under 5 years were included in this study (56 cases and 56 control). The analysis used multivariate logistic regression to determine adjusted odds ratios (OR). The results showed that the variables associated with the children growth are infection or illness in infancy (OR is 0,138 95 percent CI 0,51 until 0,375), feeding patterns in infancy (OR is 11,000 95 percent CI 4,566 until 26,503), birth weight (OR is 0,170 95 percent CI 0,036 until 0,818) and economic status (OR is 0,062 95 percent CI 0,14 until 0,280). Multivariate logistic regression showed that economic status was the most dominant factor for children physical growth (OR is 6.701 95 percent CI 1,323 until 33,944). Education for families is needed in choosing food that is rich in nutrition and economical by utilizing alternative sources of protein, the amount of food, and the schedule of meals according to the needs of children according to their age.

Abstract

According to the results of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) in 2021, there has been a considerable increase in the number of adult smokers over the past ten years, rising from 60.3 million in 2011 to 69.1 million in 2021, an increase of 8.8 million individuals. This study aims to compare the quality of life between actively smoking students and those who are exposed to passive smoking, examining their physical, psychological, social, and environmental health effects. The study utilized a sample of 100 respondents who completed a questionnaire on cigarette use and the WHOQOL quality of life assessment, covering variables such as cigarette type, disruption in daily activities, desire to quit smoking, cigarette consumption, and attitudes towards smoking bans in public places. Calculation of the WHOQOL score revealed that 60 percent of non-smoking student respondents reported a good quality of life. These findings underscore the critical need for enhanced health awareness programs and stricter smoking regulations within the university to foster a healthier environment. The study's insights highlight the importance of developing targeted interventions and policies to reduce smoking rates among students to enhance their overall quality of life.According to the results of the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) in 2021, there has been a considerable increase in the number of adult smokers over the past ten years, rising from 60.3 million in 2011 to 69.1 million in 2021, an increase of 8.8 million individuals. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an increase in the death rate of pregnant women. The government is taking preventive action by providing COVID-19 vaccination to pregnant women in accordance with the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia HK.02.01/I/2007/2021. Even though it has been carried out for 2 months, vaccination coverage is still low, especially in Temanggung Regency. This study aims to determine behavioral determinants in the use of COVID-19 vaccination services for pregnant women. This research uses an analytical survey method with a quantitative approach through a cross-sectional study. Taking 200 samples using the Accidental Sampling technique based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was collected using a research questionnaire and then analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The research results show that there is a weak relationship between employment status and perceived vulnerability and utilization of COVID-19 vaccination services among pregnant women. There is a fairly strong relationship between education level, perception of waiting time, and accessibility with the utilization of vaccination services for pregnant women. There is a strong relationship between attitudes, knowledge, availability of health facilities, availability of health workers, and ease of information with the use of COVID-19 vaccination services for pregnant women.

Abstract

Sexual and reproductive health education for adolescents remains crucial for Indonesia as it is home for more than 44 million teenagers as of 2022, in its way to anticipate demographic bonus in 2030. Government Regulation no. 61 of 2014 concerning Reproductive Health mandates sexual and reproductive health education in formal and informal education settings. By using a systematic literature review (SLR) method, this study assesses the current state of school-based sexual and reproductive health education in Indonesia. Findings reveal that the delivery of sexual and reproductive health education in Indonesian schools is fragmented, spread across various subjects such as Biology, Sports, Religious, Civic and Moral education classes, as well as extracurricular activities. Key stakeholders, including families, teachers, peers, and school principals, play crucial roles in shaping adolescents' understanding of reproductive health. However, challenges such as cultural taboos, easy access to potentially misleading online information, and inadequate teacher training hinder effective education. In addition, Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) has been suggested by WHO to be implemented and integrated in the core curriculum, with programs like SETARA pilot project showing promise in improving adolescent knowledge and attitudes towards reproductive health. However, the success of such programs requires cooperation from various stakeholders and a shift in societal norms regarding adolescent sexuality.

Abstract

Policies related to stunting prevention have been in place since 2013. However, the prevalence of stunting in East Nusa Tenggara Province is still the highest in Indonesia from 2013 to 2022. One of the areas in the province where the prevalence decreased from 2021 to 2022 is Kupang City. Oesapa Community Health Centre was appointed by the Indonesian Ministry of Health as a pilot health centre representing Kupang City. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of specific nutritional interventions for handling stunting based on the variables of communication, bureaucratic structure, resources, and disposition in the target group of pregnant women which will be associated with the target achievement of specific nutritional interventions based on Presidential Regulation No 72 of 2021. The research used qualitative methods with triangulation of informants totalling 5 people, data triangulation, and triangulation of methods, namely in-depth interviews and observations. The results showed that interventions in the form of providing additional food to pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency conditions and pregnant women who consume blood supplement tablets at least 90 tablets during pregnancy have successfully reached the target. Other Community Health Centres can make the Oesapa Community Health Centre a barometer in providing health services, especially in specific nutrition interventions aimed at target groups of pregnant women so that they work together in accelerating the reduction in stunting prevalence.
