Abstract

Good mental health is important to meet challenges in life. In contrast, mental health problem may affect anyone at any age, and may significantly impair one’s ability to form daily activities. The aim of this study is to identify mental health state among hearing impaired secondary school students in Johor Bahru. For collecting data, a survey design was using a questionnaire. A total of 77 students with hearing disabilities were selected through purposive sampling to participate in this study. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics in the form of frequency and percentage. The findings in this study showed that peers problems are the most significant problems, followed by conduct problems, and emotional problems. These findings indicate that the need to tackle mental health problems due to the impact of poor mental health in an individual can lead to problems for the individuals themselves, their families and society.Kesihatan mental yang baik adalah penting untuk menghadapi cabaran dalam kehidupan. Sebaliknya, masalah kesihatan mental boleh menjejaskan sesiapa sahaja pada peringkat umur, dan dengan ketara boleh menjejaskan keupayaan seseorang untuk membentuk aktiviti harian. Tujuan utama kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti tahap kesihatan mental murid di sekolah menengah kurang upaya pendengaran di Johor Bahru. Kajian tinjauan ini menggunakan soalselidik untuk mengumpulkan data. Seramai 77 orang murid kurang upaya pendengaran yang telah dipilih melalui persampelan bertujuan sebagai responden dalam kajian ini. Data dianalisis melalui statistik deskriptif dalam bentuk kekerapan dan peratusan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa masalah rakan sebaya merupakan masalah yang paling signifikan, diikuti oleh masalah conduct, dan masalah emosi. Penemuan ini menunjukkan keperluan untuk menangani masalah kesihatan mental kerana impak kesihatan mental yang kurang memuaskan pada seseorang individu boleh mengakibatkan masalah kepada individu itu sendiri, keluarganya dan masyarakat amnya.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um029v4i12017p045

Abstract

The result of observation in some parents shows that there is no guidance used by parents in the implementation of self-study, washing hands, eating, and drinking, so that, it can inhibit parents in providing treatment for autistic children at home. To assist parents in understanding the ways of teaching for eating, drinking and hand-washing activities, the researcher develops the Activity Daily of Living Program. This research is generally aimed at developing the ‘Activity of Daily Living’ program for parents to improve the ability of children with autism. The specific objectives are: (a) Produce a product development of activity of daily living program for the parents to improve self-help ability of children with autism, (b) Describe the feasibility of product development of activity of daily living program for parents to improve autistic children’s self-help ability. This research used a development approach by adapting the development model of Borg and Gall (2007). This development process consists of 10 development steps. This research activity was conducted limited trials of six parents (as users) in Surabaya. Feasibility results according to percentage of material experts obtained 76.19%, media / design experts with 77.77% percentage, and users (parents earn 77.77%), so that, it can be categorized into good. The result of this development is activity of daily living program which is packed in A4 paper size, 150 paper thickness, art paper type and 41 pages in which there are some steps of activity accompanied by picture in doing activity sch as hand washing, eating.Hasil observasi dibeberapa orang tua menunjukkan selama ini belum ada pedoman yang digunakan oleh orang tua dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran bina diri seperti mencuci tangan, makan, dan minum sehingga dapat menghambat orang tua dalam memberikan penanganan kepada anak autis dirumah. Untuk membantu orang tua dalam memahami cara-cara mengajarkan kegiatan makan, minum dan mencuci tangan peneliti mengembangkan program activity daily of living. Penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan mengembangkan program activity of daily living bagi orang tua untuk meningkatkan kemampuan anak autis. Tujuan khususnya, (a) menghasilkan produk pengembangan program activity of daily living bagi orang tua untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bina diri anak autis, (b) mendeskripsikan kelayakan tentang produk pengembangan program activity of daily livingbagi orang tua untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bina diri anak autis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan pengembangan dengan mengadaptasi model pengembangan Borg and Gall (2007), Proses pengembangan ini terdiri dari 10 langkah pengembangan. Kegiatan penelitian ini dilaksanakan uji coba terbatas terhadap enam orang tua (sebagai pengguna) di Surabaya. Hasil kelayakan menurut ahli materi prosentase yang diperoleh 76,19%, ahli media/desain dengan presentase 77,77% , dan pengguna (orang tua memperoleh 77,77%) di lapangan dapat dikategorikan baik/layak. Produk yang dihasilkan dari pengembangan ini yaitu program activity of daily livingyang dikemas dengan ukuran kertas A4, tebal kertas 150, jenis kertas art paper dan jumlah halaman 41halaman yang didalamnya terdapat langkah-langkah kegiatan aktivitas yang disertai gambar dalam melakukan aktivitas seperti mencuci tangan,makan.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um029v4i12017p075

Abstract

Students with intellectual disability require specialized learning that can improve a natural science outcomes by using Neighborhood Nature Exploration approce. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of natural surrounding exploration approach towards Learning outcomes of natural sciences for students with intellectual disability. The research design is Pre experimental of one group pretest-posttest design. Subjects of this study were 8 students with intellectual disability in the grade II. The collection of data was by providing pretest, treatment and post-test. The data analysis used was ladder - Wilcoxon signed. Hypothesis test results showed that the value Tcount  (36) > Ttable (6), then Ho is rejected. The conclusion was that there are significant effect of natural surrounding exploration approach towards Learning outcomes of natural sciences for students with intellectual disability.Siswa tunagrahita memerlukan pembelajaran khusus yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA dengan menggunakan pendekatan Jelajah Alam Sekitar. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan Jelajah Alam Sekitar terhadap hasil belajar IPA bagi siswa tunagrahita. Kajian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian Pre experimental design dengan bentuk One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Subjek kajian ini adalah 8 siswa tungrahita kelas II. Pengumpulan data dengan memberikan pretest, treatment dan post test. Analisis data menggunakan uji jenjang – bertanda Wilcoxon. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai Thitung  (36) > Ttabel (6), maka Ho ditolak. Abstract

Social skills is one of the problems experienced by students with visual impairment due to the absence of visual perception. The aim of this study is to explore the level of social skills among students with visual impairment of teacher perception. This study also reviewed the level of academic achievement based on the result of Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR) and it’s correlation with the social skills. This survey was conducted on 32 year six students with visual impairment from special education integration program and Special Education School for The Blind from seven states. The instrument was a set of questionnaires that were administered to the sample teachers. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics which involved mean and standard deviation as well as inferential analysis Spearman’s correlation coefficient. The findings showed that teacher’s perception towards social skills of students with visual impairment was high. However, this survey also found that their level of academic achievement was low. Spearman’s correlation coefficient inference analysis revealed, there are positive but very weak and insignificant correlation between social skills and academic achievement. In conclusion, this study show efforts must be made in order to improve the academic achievement of these groups.Kemahiran sosial adalah salah satu permasalahan yang dialami oleh Murid Berkeperluan Pendidikan Khas (MBK) ketidakupayaan penglihatan akibat ketiadaan persepsi visual. Objektif kajian ini dijalankan adalah untuk meninjau tahap kemahiran sosial MBK ketidakupayaan penglihatan dari persepsi guru. Selain itu, kajian ini juga meninjau tahap pencapaian akademik MBK ketidakupayaan penglihatan melalui keputusan Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) dan melihat hubungannya dengan kemahiran sosial murid. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 32 orang MBK ketidakupayaan penglihatan tahun enam program pendidikan khas integrasi dan Sekolah Pendidikan Khas Cacat Penglihatan dari tujuh buah negeri. Instrumen kajian ialah satu set borang soal selidik yang ditadbir ke atas guru yang mengajar sampel. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif yang melibatkan skor min dan sisihan piawai serta analisis inferensi Korelasi Spearman. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan persepsi guru terhadap kemahiran sosial MBK ketidakupayaan penglihatan tahun enam adalah tinggi. Selain itu, didapati pencapaian akademik MBK ketidakupayaan penglihatan adalah rendah. Analisis inferensi pekali Korelasi Spearman mendapati hubungan positif yang sangat lemah dan tidak signifikan antara kemahiran sosial dan pencapaian akademik. Dapatan kajian ini menjadi indikator kepada komuniti pendidikan khas ketidakupayaan penglihatan bahawa pelbagai usaha perlu dilakukan untuk memperbaiki pencapaian akademik golongan ini.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um029v4i12017p049

Abstract

The efforts to improve competency of non-PLB (Special Education) SLB (Special School) teachers in Bali Province have been programmed by Disdikpora (Dinas Pendidikan Pemuda dan Olahraga/the Office of Youth and Sports) of Bali Province in the form of Training of Teachers’ Competency of SLB held in P4TK TK and PLB Bandung. This study was conducted to describe the efforts of the Officer of Youth and Sports of Bali Province in the preparation of the implementation of Training for Teachers’ Competency of SLB non-PLB in Denpasar, the conformity of training material and to determine the implications of SDLB non-PLB teachers’ performance in Denpasar in planning, implementing, and assessment of learning. This type of the research approach is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted at the Officer of Education, Youth and Sports in Bali Province namely SLB A, B, C and C1 in Denpasar city. The data collection techniques used included observation, interview and documentation. The results of this study indicated that the competence increasing programs of non-PLB SDLB teachers in Denpasar accomplished through cooperation between Disdikpora of Bali province and P4TK TK and PLB Bandung. The Structural program supports SDLB teacher competence in teaching-learning process. Teachers of non-PLB SDLB can make a plan, implement and assess learning. Based on the above results, it can be concluded that: (1) program to improve the quality of SLB teachers in Bali province has been pursued through the implementation of SLB Teacher Competency Training. (2) The training materials is in accordance with the principles of ABK (Special need children) learning. (3) In the learning planning process, it is found some teachers who still need assistance processUpaya meningkatkan Kompetensi Guru SLB Non-PLB di Provinsi Bali telah diprogramkan oleh Dinas Pendidikan Pemuda dan Olahraga Provinsi Bali dalam bentuk Diklat Kompetensi Guru SLB yang dilaksanakan di P4TK TK dan PLB Bandung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan upaya Dinas Pendidikan Pemuda dan Olahraga Provinsi Bali dalam penyiapan pelaksanaan Diklat Kompetensi Guru SLB Non-PLB di Kota Denpasar, mendeskripsikan kesesuaiaan materi diklat dan untuk mengetahui implikasi kinerja guru SDLB Non-PLB Kota Denpasar dalam kegiatan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan penilaian pembelajaran. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Dinas Pendidikan Pemuda dan Olahraga Provinsi Bali, SLB A, B, C dan C1 Kota Denpasar. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa program peningkatan kompetensi guru SDLB non-PLB di Kota Denpasar terlaksana melalui kerjasama antara Disdikpora Provinsi Bali dengan P4TK TK dan PLB Bandung. Struktur Program menunjang kompetensi guru SDLB dalam proses belajar-mengajar. Guru SDLB Non-PLB dapat merencanakan, melaksanakan dan menilai pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa; (1) program peningkatan kualitas guru SLB di Provinsi Bali telah diupayakan melalui pelaksanaan Diklat Kompetensi Guru SLB; (2) materi diklat sesuai prinsip-prinsip pembelajaran ABK.; (3) proses perencanaan pembelajaran, ditemukan beberapa orang guru yang masih membutuhkan proses pendampingan.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um029v4i12017p079

Abstract

This study discusses communication aid using the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to children with Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome (RTS). RTS's children suffer mental retardation, have the - the autistic, can not speak and can not manage themselves well. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using PECS and RTS students can improve their language to communicate better to all. Based on the theory of constructivism introduced by Gagne that emphasizes learning system must start from the simple to the complex. The study design is a case study of a child suffering from Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome. In conclusion, the PECT implemented is expected can help children’s RTS and improve their academic performance.Kajian ini membincangkan mengenai bantuan komunikasi menggunakan Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) kepada kanak-kanak Sindrom Rubinstein Taybi (RTS). Kanak-kanak RTS ini mengalami kerencatan akal, memiliki ciri – ciri autisme, tidak boleh bertutur dan tidak boleh urus diri dengan baik. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk melihat keberkesanan menggunakan PECS dan murid RTS dapat meningkatkan penguasaan bahasa untuk berkomunikasi dengan lebih baik kepada semua. Berdasarkan teori konstruktivisme yang diperkenalkan oleh Gagne yang menekankan sistem pembelajaran harus bermula daripada yang mudah kepada yang rumit. Rekabecntuk kajian ini berbentuk kajian kes terhadap seorang kanak-kanak yang mengalami sindrom Rubinstein-Taybi. Abstract

This study aims to develop a guidebook of pictorial pantomime makeup book which is useful to improve the self-help of children with hearing impairment. Research and Development (R & D) by Borg & Gall is used in this study. Picture guides are used as a medium for learning skills for deaf students. The completed book is tested on the validity of the mediator, the material is then tested to media experts, material experts, practitioners and students. From the results of tests conducted show that the book is valid and can be used for deaf studentspenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku panduan tata rias pantomim bergambar yang berguna untuk meningkatkan kemandirian anak tunarungu. Research and Development (R & D)oleh Borg & Gall adalah metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Buku panduan bergambar digunakan sebagai media untuk pembelajaran keterampilan bagi siswa tunarungu. Buku yang sudah selesai di uji kevalidanya dari ahli medi, materi kemudian diujicobakan kepada ahli media, ahli materi, ahli praktisi dan siswa. Dari hasil ujicoba yang dilakukan menunjukkan buku tersebut valid dan dapat digunakan bagi siswa tunarungu

Abstract

The porpose of the research was to produce the printing material learning is guide book of women’s clothing basic pattern for hearing impairment in SMALB. The research use adapt the Sugiyono (2011) model which consists of 7 stages, include (1) potential problems, (2) data collection, (3) product design, (4) validation of the design, (5) design revisions, (6) product testing, and (7) the revision of the product. The results of matter experts is 70%, media experts is 93%, and practitioners (teachers) is 82%. The results of field trials obtained for student I assessment is 87,6 and student II is 80, for worthy criteria. The conclusion of this research is to get the product produced right (effective, efecience, and atractives) in practice by the hearing imparment students.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar cetak yaitu buku panduan pembuatan pola dasar busana wanita untuk siswa tunarungu SMALB. Penelitian ini menggunakan adaptasi model pengembangan Sugiyono (2011) yang terdiri atas 7 tahap, meliputi 1) potensi dan masalah, 2) pengumpulan data, 3) desain produk, 4) validasi desain, 5) revisi desain, 6) uji coba produk, 7) revisi produk. Hasil penilaian oleh para ahli yaitu ahli materi 70%, ahli media 93%, praktisi (guru) 82%. Hasil penilaian dari uji coba lapangan didapatkan penilaian 87,6 untuk siswa I dan 80 untuk siswa II dengan kriteria layak. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini yaitu produk yang dihasilkan mendapatkan hasil tepat (efektif, efisien, dan menarik) secara praktik oleh siswa tunarungu SMALB.

Abstract

The student with intellectual disability have difficulty in learning process, especially in arithmetic, which is abstract in nature. The purpose of this research are to describe the ability summation arithmetic counting student with intellectual disability in Grade II before and after intervention and to analysis the effect of dot karambol media usage toward the summation arithmetic counting student with intellectual disability in Grade II. The research used was Single Subject Research (SSR) with A-B-A design. Data collection techniques were a written test, interview sheet, and observation sheet. Data analysis was in and inter-condition analysis. The result showed that the effect of dot karambol media usage toward the summation arithmetic counting student with intellectual disability in Grade II.Individu tunagrahita mengalami problematika pada proses pembelajaran khususnya operasi hitung yang berkarakter abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan kemampuan operasi hitung penjumlahan peserta didik tunagrahita kelas II sebelum dan sesudah diberikan inetervensi dan menganalis adanya pengaruh penggunaan media dot karambol terhadap kemampuan operasi hitung penjumlahan peserta didik tunagrahita kelas II. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Single Subject Reseach (SSR) dengan desain A-B-A. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan tes tulis, lembar wawancara, dan lembar observasi. Penguraian yang diterapkan adalah analisis data dalam situasi (kondisi) dan analisi data antar kondisi. Hasil riset menunjukkan ada pengaruh dari penggunaan media jika dilihat dari kemampuan peserta didik tunagrahita kelas II dalam operasi hitung penjumlahan..

Abstract

Fine motor skills have important role for the children’s life, so it must be stimulating and developing maximally. One of them is finger painting. Finger painting is paint directly using finger without help of tools or brush by scratching coloring pulp made from safe material for children on blank paper according to the childrens‘ creativity. This research intends to explain the condition of students with intellectual disability before giving treatments, the condition of students with intellectual disability after giving treatments and the effect of finger painting towards fine motor skill students with intellectual disability. This research used quantitative research methods with quasi experimental technique time series design. The subject of this research was 6 students. This data was taken from the result of pretest dan posttest that each phase was done four times, this is purpose to measure the stability of student’s condition. In the test phase of analysis, this research was using Wilcoxon Test. The results of this observation before giving finger painting, the students’ fine motor skill was still low. Their finger was seen rigid and their finger coordination was not good proven that pretest score average was 45,2 including fewer categories and after giving finger painting, the students’ fine motor skill was increasing with evidence of posttest score average was 80,6 and it includes to excellent categories. Base on the data analysis, it can be concluded that there was a significant effect on students with intellectual disability before and after giving treatments with finger painting on learning process. Finger painting is very affected towards fine motor skill of students with intellectual disability at 5th grade of SDLB Kemala Bhayangkari Trenggalek.
