Abstract

The present study investigates the psychological well-being and sense of community of women who were displaced by natural disasters. The study explored the interrelationship between the sense of community (SOC), psychological well-being (PWB), relocation status, and socio-demographic variables. One hundred and ninety women participated in the study (N = 190). Participants completed several self-report measurements (e.g., SCI, PWBS) and were categorized into two groups: those who still dwelled in temporary shelters (n = 96) and those who had permanently relocated (n = 94). There were no significant differences in overall SOC and PWB between the two groups; however, there was a significant difference in personal growth dimension —one out of six PWB dimensions— between those who had permanently relocated and those who still stayed in temporary shelters. The two groups also significantly differed on three SOC dimensions: influence, integration, and fulfillment of needs, and shared emotional connection. Three significant predictors for PWB were found: SOC, marital status, and educational attainment. Overall, SOC was a stronger predictor of PWB than displacement status, or any other socio-demographic variables. Abstract

Changes in the role of couple occur when the couple divorced. The father who initially served as a family breadwinner, then also did the mother's task. The purpose of this study is to understand the role of fathers as single parents in parenting. A qualitative approach was used in this study. The research data were obtained from semi-structured interviews of four fathers who cared for their children under the age of 12 years. Thematic analysis is used to find emerging themes. Data validity is achieved by the member-checking technique. The results showed that as a single parent, fathers became caregivers, motivators, mentors, study companions, and child discipline reinforcers. The family and school provide support for fathers in carrying out the role of single parents. Being a single parent is felt as a burden by fathers. Father felt uncomfortable when required to do tasks that he considered to be women's duties when outside of the house.Keywords: fathering; single-parent; role adjustment; qualitative research.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of expressive writing on the symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder in female victims of domestic violence. This research uses quasi-experimental methods (using the untreated control group design). Participants in this study were 10 women who are victims of domestic violence. Participants were assigned into two groups, experimental and control groups. The results showed that there was a significant effect between experimental group posttest scores with the control group (p=0,043), which means that the research hypothesis was accepted. From the results of this study also found that there is a decrease in scores of symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder which measured using the Impact of Events Scale-Revised (IES-R) in participants in the experimental group.Keywords: expressive writing; symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder; domestic violence.

Abstract

This research purpose is to empirically analyze how grit is connected with ta’awun behavior. This research used the grounded theory approach. Data collection methods through in-depth interviews, observation, and focus group discussions. Data integration utilized the triangulation method through three main stages, consist of open, axial, and selective coding. Respondents consisted of four young volunteers with specific criteria such as act as active volunteers at Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Centre (MDMC), students of Muhammadiyah Lampung University, and had practical experience in the disaster area. The results showed that there were five main themes in the behavior of Muhammadiyah's young volunteer ta'awun: (1) attention to others; (2) helping others; (3) considerate others; (4) positive achievement; dan (5) positive consequences. Grit character in the behavior of young Muhammadiyah volunteers involves as a rover to success system in aligning young volunteers to give added value to the utmost usefulness in the process of assisting survivors. Abstract

This study aimed to investigate whether strength-based parenting, in particular both aspects of parenting (strength knowledge and strength use), could predict adolescent self-esteem. Participants were 215 adolescents who were studied at a high school in Surabaya. Data were collected using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale to measure self-esteem and the Strength-Based Parenting scale (Strength Knowledge Scale and Strength Use Scale) to measure strength-based parenting. Based on correlation analysis, significant positive relationships were found between strength knowledge and self-esteem, and between strength use and self-esteem. The result of multiple regression analysis revealed that strength knowledge and strength use predicted adolescent self-esteem, but only strength knowledge made a significant unique contribution to adolescent self-esteem.Keywords: self-esteem; adolescents; strength-based parenting.

Abstract

Parents are an important factor in the intervention process of special needs children. Therefore, this article aims to describe parental involvement in the intervention that can be done to optimize the development of special needs children. The parents' involvement that was analyzed in this article based on two models of early childhood education that involve parents in the educational process, such as the Portage model and Jowonio School. Interventions carried for special needs children have been carried out since they were in their early childhood period so that it is quite relevant to use the early education model as an example of parental involvement in their children's interventions. The advantage of using the Portage model because this model uses a home-based approach so that children with special needs get a high intensity of intervention. The strength of Jowonio School is an individual program in intervening children with special needs. However, special time is still needed for counseling the parents of children with special needs in recognizing and controlling the emotions felt by caring for children with special needs.Keywords: special needs children; intervention; parental involvement; therapy center.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSeiring dengan perkembangan jaman yang semakin maju, pergeseran nilai-nilai di masyarakat mengenai perempuan bekerja dicatat mengalami kemajuan yang terus meningkat dari dekade sebelumnya. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah kini wanita telah memperoleh kesempatan pendidikan dan kesempatan pekerjaan yang sama dengan pria sehingga dapat memiliki peran lebih dari satu atau yang disebut peran ganda. Fenomena wanita yang memiliki peran ganda saat ini dapat ditemui pada wanita yang meniti karir di bidang pertahanan negara sebagai prajurit TNI wanita khusus pada TNI Angkatan Laut. Salah satu tuntutan yang harus dimiliki para prajurit TNI adalah kompetensi dan skill atau kinerja yang handal dan optimal. Namun, terkait dengan kodrat diri mereka sebagai wanita Indonesia, para Kowal yang telah berkeluarga tidak dapat memungkiri tugas utama sebagai ibu rumah tangga. Peran ganda mengakibatkan tuntutan lebih yang dapat menimbulkan situasi yang tidak mudah untuk diselesaikan. Prajurit TNI wanita yang berperan ganda juga perlu mencapai keseimbangan antara kehidupan dan pekerjaannya. Keseimbangan antara kehidupan dan pekerjaan ini disebut dengan work-life balance. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan berupa studi kasus deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian kualitatif menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik penggalian data yang digunakan adalah Teknik wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian secara keseluruhan, subjek merasa telah seimbang dalam menjalani peran ganda. Namun, disamping itu subjek menyadari bahwa prioritas pekerjaannya adalah resiko yang harus dihadapinya, sehingga konflik-konflik yang muncul terkait pekerjaan dengan keluarganya dapat diatur sedemikian rupa dengan strategi komunikasi.Kata Kunci : Wanita TNI, Peran Ganda, work-life balance

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran penyesuaian perkawinan pada suami pendeta di Gereja Batak Karo Protestan (GBKP). Metode penelitian ini bersifat kuantitatif dengan menggunakan skala The Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) dari Spanier (1976) yang digunakan untuk mengukur penyesuaian perkawinan dan dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan program SPSS 24.The Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) berisi 32 item dan terdiri atas 4 komponen yakni konsensus, kesatuan, kepuasan dan ekspresi perasaan (affectional expression). Hasil reliabilitas dan validitas DAS diukur dengan analisis confirmatory factor (CFA) menggunakan Lisrel versi 8.50 terhadap 40 orang responden. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba alat ukur penyesuaian perkawinan dengan menggunakan Lisrel 8.50 diketahui sebanyak 21 item dinyatakan sahih dan 11 item dinyatakan gugur / tidak sahih dengan reliabilitas sebesar 0,7425.Hasil uji statistik memperlihatkan bahwa mean dari variabel penyesuaian perkawinan adalah sebesar 88.30. Hal ini memberikan gambaran bahwa penyesuaian perkawinan yang dimiliki oleh suami pendeta GBKP berada pada kategori tinggi. Hasil uji statistik juga memperlihatkan bahwa indikator yang memiliki mean tertinggi dari alat ukur The Dyadic Adjustment Scale adalah dyadic consensus sebesar 46,6582 diikuti dengan dyadic satisfaction sebesar 20.34, dyadic cohesion sebesar 13.16 dan affectional expression sebesar 8.21.

Abstract

Karakteristik anak gifted yang khas dalam segi akademik dan kurangnya pelayanan akademik pada sekolah formal membuat para orangtua yang memiliki anak gifted lebih memilih untuk menyekolahkan anak di luar sekolah formal (homeschooling). Selain karena kebutuhan akademik yang berbeda, homeschooling dapat memenuhi kebutuhan akademik dan karakteristik anak gifted yang khas. Di sisi lain, homeschooling memiliki dampak negatif pada anak gifted, yaitu kurang memfasilitasi anak untuk bersosialisasi dengan teman-temannya. Kemampuan sosial anak menjadi terbatas. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan peran dari orang terdekat anak gifted seperti orangtua, guru, dan sekolah dalam memfasilitasi dan membantu memenuhi kebutuhan akademik anak gifted. Pencarian artikel penelitian dilakukan di 4 situs pencarian artikel penelitian internasional, yaitu ScienceDirect, SAGE, ProQuest, dan ERIC dengan tahun terbit 2011-2020. Data awal terkumpul 40 jurnal artikel dan disaring melalui kriteria inclusion dan exclusion hingga didapatkan 8 jurnal yang terdiri dari 4 jurnal kuantitatif dan 4 jurnal kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil systematic literature review, diketahui bahwa homeschooling masih relevan untuk menjadi pilihan dengan memperhatikan beberapa peran orangtua terhadap anak gifted sebagai motivator, resource providers, advisers, monitors, counselors, dan support. Pilihan untuk menyekolahkan anak gifted di sekolah formal juga masih dapat dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan peran guru sebagai penyampai informasi dan follow-up mengenai perkembangan akademik anak gifted di sekolah dan peran sekolah yang memfasilitasi komunikasi intens antara orangtua dan guru serta memiliki program pendidikan khusus untuk anak gifted.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah ada hubungan antara efikasi diri dengan stres sekolah pada siswa sekolah berprestasi di Malang. Diketahui bahwa siswa dapat mengalami stres sekolah ketika mereka merasa tertekan dengan tuntutan tugas, tuntutan guru dan orangtua, dan hubungan interpersonal siswa. Stres sekolah dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor kepribadian berupa efikasi diri, bila seseorang memiliki efikasi yang rendah maka akan lebih rentan mengalami stres. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian korelasional. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 145 siswa SMKN 8 Malang. Pengambilan data menggunakan skala efikasi diri (reliabilitas 0,886 dan validitas 0,265-0,628) dan skala stres sekolah (reliabilitas 0.786 dan validitas 0,271-0,475). Hasil analisis inferensial berupa uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan Pearson product moment  menunjukkan hasil berupa nilai koefisien korelasi (rxy) sebesar – 0,504 (Sig. kurang dari 0,05) sehingga disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dan bersifat negatif antara efikasi diri dengan stres sekolah. Hal ini  berarti semakin rendah efikasi diri yang dimiliki maka akan semakin tinggi stres sekolah yang dimiliki begitupun sebaliknya.Kata Kunci: efikasi diri, stres sekolah, sekolah menengah kejuruan
