Abstract

Empowered farmers have the capacity to make choices, access resources, and increase income which in turn can improve their livelihoods. Therefore, the level of empowerment of farmers is crucial to ensure the sustainability of their businesses and to overcome challenges such as unpredictable agricultural conditions. In addition to the importance of farmers' empowerment level, it is also necessary to pay attention to factors that can support the creation of farmers' empowerment in running their business. This study aims to analyze the influence of social capital and institutional support on the level of empowerment of cocoa farmers in the area around mining in Bulungan Regency, especially farmers assisted by PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara (PKN). The approach used in this research is descriptive quantitative with a case study method. Respondents were determined based on the census method of 108 cocoa farmers assisted by PT PKN. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques and multiple linear regression. The results showed that there is a simultaneous influence of social capital, and institutional support on the level of farmer empowerment. Partial test results of social capital has a significant influence on the level of farmer empowerment (0.037), with an average value indicating that farmers have a fairly good social network consisting of institutional networks, trust, cooperation and norms. However, institutional support did not show a significant effect on the level of farmer empowerment (0.267), which is due to the mismatch of policies with farmers' needs, lack of coordination between institutions, and limited assistance resources. These findings indicate the importance of strengthening social capital and improving institutional support to strengthen farmer empowerment. Some concrete efforts suggested to improve farmer empowerment include adjusting policies to farmers' needs and strengthening cocoa farmers' social networks.

Abstract

Water is the most important part in cultivating plants, the availability of water is a source of agricultural support so that agricultural plants grow optimally. However, there is a scarcity of water supply in Lumajang sub-district, to meet the water needs of the land, farmers have built pump wells to distribute water to the land to meet the needs of rice and corn crops. This needs to be taken into account due to high operational costs, so calculating the economic value of pump well irrigation water is important. Researcher's objectives (1) What is the economic value of pump well model irrigation water. (2) What factors influence the economic value of pump well model irrigation water. The research area chosen by Lumajang District was carried out using the method Purposive sampling and methods Proportionate Stratifield Random  Sampling. Research Methods use descriptive and quantitative methods. Analytical tools use analytics Residual Imputation Approach (RIA) and Multiple Linear Regression analysis. The results of the RIA analysis of the economic value of pump model irrigation water in the dry season are the value of water in these 3 areas for cultivating corn and rice plants, in the dry season the operational costs for irrigating rice plants have a high volume of water, so farmers use water efficiently. Multiple linear regression analysis of factors influencing the economic value of pump irrigation water, Education (X1) has a significant effect with a coefficient of - 242.837, has a real negative effect on the economic value of pump irrigation water, and total income (X2) has a significant effect with a coefficient of 0.175, meaning it has a real positive influence on the economic value of pump irrigation water

Abstract

Milkfish (Chanos chanos) is a fishery product that is one of the leading commodities in Lamongan Regency, and ranks fourth in its production in East Java after Sumenep, Gresik and Sidoarjo Regencies. This study examines the correlation and regression studies between the amount of feed and milkfish production in Kendalkemlagi Village, with the hope that it can be a basis for supporting the sustainability of milkfish cultivation and improving the welfare of farmers through increasing optimal production results. This study is a quantitative study with a purposive sample method in selecting its samples, and the calculation analysis used is correlation and regression analysis. The results of the study obtained a correlation value of 0.994 indicating a very strong and positive relationship between variable X (amount of feed) and variable Y (milkfish production), meaning that the more feed given, the higher the milkfish production. With a t-count value of 18.17 which is much greater than the t-table of 2.776 (df = 4, ɑ = 0.05, two-way), then H0 is rejected, this means that the relationship between the amount of feed and milkfish production is significant. Then, from the linear regression equation Y = −191.33+0.71x, it means that an increase in the amount of feed will be followed by a proportional increase in milkfish production, so that there is an influence between the two.
