Abstract

This study explores group dynamics in the management of Technopark Rice-Fish Farming, focusing on role distribution, effective communication, conflict resolution, and inclusive decision-making. Employing a qualitative method with an interpretivist approach, the research delves into the personal and social experiences of stakeholders in Dusun Samberembe, Sleman—an iconic Rice-Fish Farming site in Indonesia utilizing the jajar legowo method. Data were collected through field observations and interviews with management teams, youth organizations, and the local community, then analyzed to produce findings of significant relevance. The findings reveal that group dynamics play a pivotal role in promoting sustainability and productivity at Technopark Rice-Fish Farming. Collaboration across takeholders has facilitated the integration of technology and local resources, overcoming challenges such as differing visions, missions, and climate change impacts. Notably, the integration of technological and social approaches has boosted productivity by up to 30% compared to conventional methods. This study highlights that the strength of group dynamics extends beyond productivity gains to the human connections forged among individuals. The study also emphasizes that the strength of group dynamics extends beyond productivity, fostering solidarity and human connections that serve as a foundation for addressing challenges and driving sustainable innovation. These insights offer valuable implications for the management of other integrated agricultural systems.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is one of the main contributors to employment absorption. However, there has been a noticeable decline in the number of millennial workers entering this sector. Millennials tend to have a negative perception of agriculture, viewing it as a less prestigious profession and one that offers limited financial rewards. This negative perception has led to the belief that the agricultural sector lacks both status and profitability. This study aims to: (1) Identify interest in agricultural sector employment in Ciamis Regency,(2) Observe employment trends among millennials in the agricultural sector, (3) Analyze the influence and contribution of millennials’ perspectives on agriculture in Ciamis Regency, and (4) Propose alternatives, solutions, and strategies to attract millennials to work in the agricultural sector. The trendline forecast results yielded the equation Y = 1E+06x - 2E+09, indicating a potential increase in youth employment in agriculture, though the growth is not expected to be significant. The findings show that interest among young people is categorized as very high. This suggests that millennials in Ciamis Regency are beginning to realize that being a farmer is neither as difficult nor as unattractive as they may have previously thought. Despite limitations in land and capital, the growing availability and application of innovations and modern technologies are making agricultural work more accessible and appealing. The study also indicates that the influence on interest, contribution, and employment in the agricultural sector in Ciamis Regency has been positive. What remains necessary is continuous guidance, both in terms of knowledge and technical skills, to help millennials sustain their agricultural ventures, implement innovative and technology-driven approaches, and identify profitable market opportunities.

Abstract

Indonesia and Vietnam are leading global coffee exporters, both ASEAN members. Despite Vietnam's smaller land area, it exports more coffee, ranking second globally, while Indonesia is fourth. This research aims to: 1) analyze the comparative and competitive advantage of Indonesian and Vietnamese coffee; and 2) identify competitive advantage factors using Porter's Diamond Model. Data analysis Methods included Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) for comparative advantage, Trade Specialization Index (TSI) for competitive advantage, and Porter's Diamond Model for determining factors. The research results for the period 2000-2023 show that: 1) the average RCA value for coffee from 2000-2023 for Indonesia was 5.5 and  Vietnam was 22.7, and the average TSI value for Indonesian coffee was 0.91 and for Vietnam was 0.96; 2) Based on Porter's Diamond Model analysis, Indonesia's factor conditions are indicated by vast agricultural land, diverse agroclimates, abundant labor, and infrastructure development, while Vietnam's are indicated by land efficiency, technical training, access to capital, and developing infrastructure. Indonesia's domestic demand conditions are rapidly developing, while Vietnam focuses on exports. Related and supporting industries are indicated by the development of coffee raw materials, namely seeds, in each country. Both Indonesia and Vietnam have complex firm strategy, structure, and rivalry, ranging from small-scale farmers to large companies.
