Abstract

This study aims to provide insights for producers and stakeholders in planning the diversification of “analog rice” using “putak” flour in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Therefore, it is necessary to identify consumer preference trends and effective marketing strategies for analog rice on the “Shopee” and “Tokopedia” e-commerce platforms using the keyword “beras analog.” Qualitative data analysis was conducted using NVIVO software, while statistical analysis employed RStudio to illustrate the influence of total sales on price and rating. The results show that analog rice products are dominated by three brands—DOLLAR (corn based), SEGO (cassava-based), and FUKUMI (porang-based)—with shipping areas covering Jakarta, Madiun, and Bekasi, and peak rating distribution from 4.9 to 5. Price and rating are the primary determinants in predicting sales volume, with an increase in rating significantly boosting sales. Consumer preferences lean toward analog rice sold in bundles, with total sales exceeding 2000 compared to retail sales, indicating that higher prices do not reduce or affect total sales.

Abstract

Digital transformation in agricultural extension is an important strategy for accelerating the dissemination of innovation and increasing the productivity of the agricultural sector. This study aims to analyze the use of information and communication technology (ICT) and its impact on the effectiveness of extension services and rice productivity in East Denpasar District. The research location was selected purposively, with a population of 529 farmers from Subak Temaga, Subak Padanggalak, and Subak Buaji, and a sample size of 53 individuals selected using proportional sampling techniques. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation using a questionnaire as an instrument. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and quantitatively using the SEM-PLS model. The results showed that the level of ICT utilization was moderate (64.64%), with the use of mobile phones, computers, televisions, and social media. The effectiveness of extension services was classified as high (68.03%), covering aspects of understanding, enjoyment, attitude change, social relations, and action. Rice productivity was categorized as moderate (63.01%), covering aspects of cultivation intensification, effective allocation of agricultural inputs, agricultural resource management, and production improvement. The SEM-PLS test shows that ICT has a positive effect on the effectiveness of extension services (O value = 0.685; p = 0.000 < 0.05), and the effectiveness of extension services acts as a mediator for productivity (O value = 0.689; p = 0.000 < 0.05). However, ICT does not have a direct effect on rice productivity (O value = 0.149; p = 0.125 > 0.05). These findings provide important insights for developing more effective agricultural extension strategies in the digital age.

Abstract

Rice is a food ingredient that is a top priority in government food policy.  Rice prices in Indonesia experienced an increase in the first quarter of 2024, rice prices jumped 21.3% compared to last year. The difference in rice prices occurs because of the weak agribusiness structure and market mechanisms that occur in Indonesia.  Market integration analysis can be carried out through several measurements, namely price correlation, price transmission, and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) analysis. This research aims to analyze the relationship between rice prices at the farmer level, grain producers and consumers in Lampung Province, as well as analyzing the integration of the rice market at the farmer level, grain producers and rice consumers in Lampung Province. The data used is secondary data in the form of time series data, namely data on grain prices at the producer or farmer level and retail rice prices at the consumer level in Lampung Province from 2018 to 2023. The data analysis method uses price correlation analysis and the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM ) using Eviews.10 software. The research results show that the price of rice at both market levels, namely between the grain producer market and the rice consumer market in Lampung Province, is positively correlated.  Based on the results of the market integration analysis, it shows that the rice market in Lampung Province has not been fully integrated in the short term, while the results of the cointegration test show that in the long term the market at the grain producer and retailer level in Lampung Province is well integrated, so it can be concluded that the rice market in the Province In the short term, Lampung has not been well integrated, while in the long term the rice market in Lampung Province is integrated.

Abstract

Tanjungsari Animal Market plays an important role in livestock marketing, especially sheep.  The existence of blantik as the main actor mediating transactions between farmers and buyers creates uniqueness in the market. This study aims to analyze the activities of blantik, market actors' perceptions of blantik, and the impact of their presence on the proportion of sheep sales in Tanjungsari Animal Market. The research sample was taken from market players including farmers, traders, blantik, and consumers. Data were obtained through a survey of market participants and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U Test statistical test. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the proportion of sales between transactions that used blantik and those that did not (p-value = 0.023). The average ranking of transactions with blantik was higher than transactions without blantik, indicating that the role of blantik contributed to improving the smoothness and efficiency of the sheep trade. The presence of blantik helps speed up transactions, expand market access, and improve price stability. However, there are different perceptions among market players regarding the impact of blantik on farmer welfare and supply chain efficiency. This study provides insights into optimizing the role of blantik in the livestock marketing system to improve farmer welfare without compromising consumer interests.

Abstract

Indonesia’s policy of regional expansion, initiated after the 1998 reform and formalized through Law No. 22/1999, was intended to address regional development inequalities. However, it has often led to land-use changes that pose risks to agricultural livelihoods, especially in newly established regions such as Pangandaran Regency. This research investigates the dimensions of livelihood vulnerability, the roles of institutional and policy frameworks, the composition of livelihood capital, the sustainability of livelihoods, and the prevalence of poverty in Pangandaran. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach, the study surveyed 378 farming households across the Mangunjaya and Padaherang Sub-Districts. The analysis reveals that sensitivity is the most dominant factor in livelihood vulnerability; environmental legal frameworks are the strongest among institutional and policy elements; financial capital is the most prevalent form of livelihood asset; land-use-related ecological factors are the most vital to sustainability; and housing conditions emerge as the key indicator of poverty. These findings emphasize the intricate interplay between institutional change and rural livelihoods, and they point to the critical need for cohesive policies that promote sustainable agriculture amid the ongoing challenges of regional development.
