Abstract

This study aim to know the relationship between body size, body weight and carcass weight of male Simmental Ongole crossbred at various age. The study was conducted in Jagalan abattoir in Surakarta for 2 months from December 2016 untill Januari 2016. Ninety heads of male Simmental Ongole crossbred were grouped into 3 groups (each 30 heads) that are Group 1 (1,5-2 years old), Group 2 (2-3 years old) and Group 3 (3-3,5 years old) according to dental anatomy observation at the incisivus replacement. Body length and chest circumference were respectively observed then correlated with body weight and carcass weight. Result shows a strong correlation between body weight and carcass weight by r value 0.931. The correlation between body length with body weight, chest circumference with body weight of Group1, Group 2 and Group 3 also shows in similiar pattern, with r value 0.647, 0.787, 0.666, and 0.661, 0.851, 0.661 respectively. A strong correlation also expressed between body length with carcass weight and chest circumference with carcass weight in each of groups as shown by r value 0.638, 0.740, 0.551 and 0.572, 0.803, 0.603 respectively. It is conculded that body size, body weight and carcass weight of male Simmental Ongole crossbreed have strong correlation among others.

Abstract

Saburai goat was crossing breed by grading up between male Boer and female Ettawah grade goat. This research was conducted to compare production performance of male Saburai goat at Gisting subdistrict and Sumberejo subdistrict as Saburai goat breeding source area. Survey method were used in this research by observation to 90 at Gisting subdistrict and 90 at Sumberejo subdistrict tails male Saburai goat as sample. The sample were choosed by purposive sampling method. Variables observed were birth weight (BW), weaning weight (WW), yearling weight (YW), average of preweaning daily gain (APreDG), average of postweaning daily gain (APostDG). The data was analyzed by t-student test. Result of research indicated that BW (3,42+0,28 kg), WW (16,22+3,77 kg), YW (36,56+4,85 kg), APreDG (140,00+0,04 g/tail/day), APostDG (70,00+0,02 g/tail/day) of Saburai goat at Gisting subdistrict was not different (P>0,05) with Saburai goat at Sumberejo subdistrict (BW 3,48+0,41 kg, WW 16,85+258 kg, YW 38,30+5,35 kg, APreDG 150,00+0,03 g/tail/day, APostDG 80,00+0,02 g/tail/day). Keywords: performance production, Saburai male goat, Tanggamus

Abstract

This aim of this research to find out the level of easiness or difficulty of beef cattle farmers inobtaining feedstuff in the dry season in dry land farming area . The research was take place in thevillage of Kemejing, District of Semin, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta from August to October(dry season). The research with survey method on the techniques of Participatory Rural Appraisal(PRA). Thirty (30) farmers as respondents, with 2-3 cows ownership provisions, and have a minimumof 2 years on the experience of raising cattle. Accessibility to sources of feedstuff were observedrelated to the origin of feed, feed resources and location distance or using time, purchase feeds,availability of labor and time needed in looking for feed. Results of the research were reported bydescriptive. The results showed that the average of the five observed variables, namely the origin offeed, distance and time, the purchase of feed, labor availability and the search time, obtained scoreare successively 0.77; 0.73; 0.96; 0.71 and 0.88, so that the total score was 4.05 and it is called ineasy criteria. The conclusion from this study is the accessibility of feed for cattle in dryland farmingareas in the dry season is easy.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the effect of temperature and duration ofthawing frozen semen in ministraw on quality sperm. Seventy five ministraws frozen semen of Simmental breed were thawing by water with temperature 5, 26 and 37 °C, with duration of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 second. The quality sperm post thawing was measured based on pH and motility. The design of this research was completely randomized design with factorial clasification 3 x 5. The result showed that the motility of sperm was thawing 37°C better than the other temperature. The quality of sperm was no affected by temperature and duration of thawing. It could be concludedthat thawing of frozen semen will have better done at 37°C with duration of 15 second.Key words : Thawing, sperm, ministraw, frozen semen.

Abstract

This research was conducted to know the effect of different concentrations addition of Tiwai onion extract (Eleutherine americana Merr) on chemical composition, physical, organoleptical quality, and Vitamin C content of nugget from Gallus turcicus meat. There were four treatments in this experiment, 1) without Tiwai onion extract (TOE), 2) level of 5 % TOE, 3) level of 10 % TOE, 4) level of 15 % TOE. The variable were observed of chemical composition (water, fat, and ash content), physical quality (pH and cooking loss) and sensoric quality (colour, taste, tenderness, texture and acceptability). Chemical composition and physical quality were analysed by ANOVA, when the different between means were tested by Least Significant Difference Test. Sensory characterictic quality were analysed by hedonic test of Kruskal and Wallis. Result showed that the addition of TOE up to 15 % affected significantly on water, fat, ash and vitamin C content (P<0.05). Addition of TOE was also affected significantly (P<0.05) onpH, cooking loss and all organoleptical quality except acceptability. Result showed that the addition of TOE up to 15 % increasing water, fat, ash and vitamin C content. Addition of TOE up to 15% decreasing physical quality (pH and cooking loss). Organoleptical quality taste, flavor, texture and tenderness increased but colour was decrease compare to control. Nugget by addition EBT up to 15 % still acceptable for panelis.Key words: nugget, Eleutherine americana Merr extract, chemical composition, physical quality, organoleptical quality, vitamin C content

Abstract

Pregnancy-Associated Glycoprotein (PAG) merupakan molekul glikoprotein yang berkaitandengan kebuntingan. Molekul PAG disekresikan sebagai salah satu sinyal kebuntingan dari embrio kepada induk sebelum proses implantasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bobot molekul PAG pada kambing Jawarandu. Identifikasi PAG diperoleh dari ekstrak kotiledon yang dikumpukan setelah induk melahirkan. Proses penelitian dilakukan dengan empat tahap, yaitu ekstraksi, purifikasi larutan menggunakan presipitasi asam (H3PO4 1 M, pH 4.7) dan garam ((NH4)2SO4 40% dan 80%), filtrasi larutan menggunakan Sephadex G-75®, dan identifikasi bobot molekul PAG menggunakan SDS-PAGE. Bobot molekul protein yang muncul pada SDS-PAGE pada kolom K-8 menunjukkan adanya dua pita protein dengan bobot molekul 43,61 kDa dan 28,21 kDa. Molekul tersebut diduga dapat digunakan sebagai penanda kebuntingan dini pada kambing Jawarandu.Kata kunci: PAG, Kotiledon, Kambing Jawarandu, SDS-PAGE

Abstract

Research was carried out on South Amanuban Sub District, East Nusa Tenggara. The objective of this study was at analyse labour allocation in raising beef cattle and non beef cattle farming from contract farming pattern, and to determine simulation model for cow number enhancement. Data were collected by interview method using structured questionaire. In total, 117 respondents were obtained by purposive sampling method. Data were analysed using Two Stage Least Square (2SLS) method and simulation analysis with application of SAS 9.1 program. Result showed that households’ labour allocation was 195.24 MLHE/year on beef cattle farming and 481.03 MLHE/year for non beef cattle farming. Simulation model indicated 50 % increased of cattle number resulted in improving household time devoted on beef cattle farming, production as well as profit of raising beef cattle.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the feasibility business for goat based on keeping system, keept, the livestock breed and elevation. The study was carried out in four districts of Yogyakarta. Purposive random techniques were used. The samples were selected based on the village group system, breeds (Kacang, Bligon and Etawa Crossbreed Goat and elevation (low, medium and high). The socio-economic were the Break Even Point, B/C ratio, and Net Present Value (NPV) of the farmers. The results showed that Etawa Crossbreed Goat have a highest income to increase the productivity of goats. Moreover, the goat breeding business was profitable when there were minimally 2-3 doe on the assumption that the livestock breeding was intensively managed. In general, the B/C ratio value was bigger than 1 and the NPV was positive, indicated that the goat was feasible because it could provide the breeders with the profit that surpassed the social opportunity cost, which was the used capital production factor. It is recommended that Kacang goats may be developed due to the pure breed and good export opportunity.Key words : feasibility study, the keeping system, livestock breed, elevation

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan tepung Azolla microphylla dalam ransum terhadap performan itik manila dan mengetahui tingkat pemberian tepung azolla yang paling optimal. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kandang unggas ex-farm Jatikuwung Jurusan Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian UNS mulai 22 Juni 2007 sampai 25 Agustus 2007. Penelitian menggunakan 100 ekor itik manila betina yang ditempatkan dalam kandang litter secara acak. Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola searah dengan empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan.            Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah: Ransum + 0% tepung azolla (P0); Ransum + 5% tepung azolla (P1); Ransum + 10% tepung azolla (P2); Ransum + 15% tepung azolla (P3). Peubah yang diamati adalah konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, konversi pakan dan efisiensi pakan.            Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pemberian tepung azolla ke dalam pakan memberikan pengaruh yang sangat nyata terhadap pertambahan bobot badan, serta tidak berpengaruh terhadap konsumsi, konversi dan efisiensi pakan. Ransum dengan 10% tepung azolla (P2) menghasilkan pertambahan bobot badan terbaik (23,75 gram/ekor/hari) yang berbeda sangat nyata dari P0 (21,07 gram/ekor/hari). Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ransum + 10% tepung azolla (P2)  memberikan hasil yang terbaik. Kata kunci: tepung Azolla microphylla, performan, itik manila

Abstract

The aims  of this research are to 1) knowing the level of use optimum input which can yield maximum income by constraints konsentrat, bekatul, hijauan, capital, and other input, 2) Knowing change  of optimal income in the change of pakan price, fresh milk price and anakan price Basic method used in this research is descriptive. Determination of research area is purposive that is Boyolali Regency with subdistrict Musuk. And than taken one village is Sukorejo. Farmer taken as sample in this research are farmer have adult dairy cattle. Taken respondent with simple random sampling is 40 respondent  farmer of dairy cattle. Result of research indicate that maximal income which can be reached in effort ranch of scale people dairy cattle 4 tail per UT equal to Rp Rp 4.003.592 with combination result of effort in the form of ox anakan counted 3 tail, milk counted 8.700 litre, and  compost counted 15.000 kg. Using input in the form of consentrat equal to 4.700 kilogram, bekatul counted 1.839 kg, waste of soybean cake counted 2.053 kg, hijauan counted 20.440 kg. In used of resources used up and no remains. Result of sensitivitas analysis indicate that optimal income of dairy cattle livestock are sensitive to a) increasing price of fresh milk, anakan, input and compost togetherly equal to 5% and  10%,  b) decreasing price of output equal to 5% and  10% at fixed cost, c) increasing price of consentrat equal to 5 - 10% at the fix price of output. Key words : optimal combination, dairy cattle, sensitivity
