Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between decision making abilities and cognitive abilities, personality (big five personality) with cognitive ability, and decision making ability and personality (big five personality) together with cognitive abilities. This research was conducted in the State High School of Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province with a sample of 45 educators. This study uses a quantitative approach, descriptive method with correlational techniques. The results of this study are based on research data analysis using a regression model with a significance level (α = 0.05) and a correlation coefficient test with the Pearson Product Moment test (α = 0.05). The results of the analysis show that there is a positive relationship between decision making ability and cognitive abilities, there is a positive relationship between personality (big five personality) and cognitive ability and there is a positive relationship between decision making ability and big five personality together with the ability cognitive.

Abstract

This research aims to unveil the improvement of elementary school student’s conceptual understanding through the implementation of E-Jas Science Edutainment. This research is a pre-experimental research with the design of one group pretest and posttest. The sample of the research uses purposive sampling technique. The result of the Normalized-Gain research shows that there is an improvement of student’s achievement under the criteria of medium (28.57%) and high (71.43 %). The classical result shows the normalized gain of 71% or 0.71, which means that student’s improvement was really high. The result shows that the implementation of E-JAS Science Edutainment can improve student’s learning achievement.

Abstract

The Industrial revolution 4.0 era has changed the view of educational model focus, where the old literacy knowledge (reading, writing, and mathematic) is not enough to be modal in a society. Curriculum reorientation is needed as new literacy so it keeps to be existed in that era. This research aims to understand validity and reading level of Integrated Sciences digital module based on scientific literacy students, and to analyze TCK skills of students after using digital module. This research use R & D method with subject of 44 science teacher candidate. Validating was done by expert validator. Reading level uses the result of scale test. TCK analyzed with descriptive percentage. Research showed there is acceptance using of Integrated Sciences digital module with reading level in intermediate level (51,90%) and validity is high (81,25%). TCK was analyzed with likert type scale in a enough criteria due to use of digital module. It is concluded that Integrated Science digital module based on scientific literacy can be used as learning module. Development of other digital module needs supporting from high institution so that it can hold on industry revolution 4.0 era.

Abstract

Mastering statistic consepts to be applied in research is crucial competency for Biologi Education students. This research aimed to observe the competency level of Biology Education students in implementing their statistical knowledge. The population of this survey research was the students in seventh semester of Department of Biology Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitty of Muhammadiyah Malang. Meanwhile, the sample were 41 students which comprised of 31 females and ten males. The quantitative data gained was analyzed descriptively to observe the statistical mastering concept of students in general. In addition, one-way ANOVA test was also conducted to determine whether there was a significant difference among students with difference academic levels in mastering statistical concepts. The findings showed that the statistical competencies of Biology Education students were low. Furthermore, the students with low, fair, and high academic abilities had no significant difference in mastering statistical concepts. Based on the findings, it is a demanding task for lecturers to creat the most proper learning design in their lectures which boost students’ self-eficacy as well as their motivation and positive attitude so that it will ease them to be engaged in statistical learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is; to find out the Relationship between Learning Outcomes of Discipline Character in Jambi State Junior High School 14. This type of research is research or relationship research. The research was carried out in classes VII D and VII E. The time of the study was carried out in the even semester of the academic year 2018/2019. The number of sample respondents in this study were 60 students. The technique of collecting data in this study uses a questionnaire technique to obtain student character data consisting of 25 items of questions then the test technique used to collect data, specific physics science learning achievement consisting of 30 items. This study uses quantitative research methods, which consist of quantitative data and analysis using correlation analysis techniques. The results of the analysis conducted by researchers indicate that disciplinary character education is significantly related to the learning outcomes of students of class VII D and VII E Jambi 14 Middle School. This can be proved by the Person Correlation = 0.976 with a significance level = 0.000. To determine the significance of the relationship between disciplinary character education and student learning outcomes can be done by looking at the significance level, where the test examines the opinion of the significance level smaller than 0.05 (95% confidence level) then a significant relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable is needed. Based on the results of calculating a significant value smaller than 0.05 which is 0,000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be acknowledged that there is a relationship between disciplinary character education on the learning outcomes of students of class VII D and VII E in the Junior High School 14 of Jambi City.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between tolerance and learning outcomes of students in Junior High School 8 Kota Jambi. This type of research is a correlation study with a descriptive approach. This research was conducted in classes VII B and VII F. When the study was conducted in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The number of sample respondents in this study were 61 students. Data collection techniques in this study used a questionnaire technique to obtain student character data consisting of 25 items then test techniques in the form of multiple choice questions consisting of 30 items used to collect data. This research uses quantitative research methods, which consist of quantitative data and analysis using correlation analysis techniques. The results of the analysis conducted by the researcher showed that tolerance attitudes were significantly related to the learning outcomes of students of class VII B and VII F of Junior High School 8 Kota Jambi. This can be proven by showing a significant value of <0.05, which is equal to 0,000 and Person Correlation of 0,956> 0,05. To find out the significance of the relationship between tolerance character education and student learning outcomes can be done by looking at the significance value, where the test tests the opinion the significance level is smaller than 0.05 (95% confidence level), then a significant relationship between the independent variable and dependent variable is needed. Based on the calculation results a significant value is smaller than 0.05, which is 0,000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be recognized that there is a relationship between education tolerance and learning outcomes of students of class VII B and VII F in Junior High School 8 Kota Jambi.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine: (1) learning resources used by science teachers, (2) the ability of science teachers to utilize learning resources, and (3) the implications of using learning resources on the quality of science teachers in the learning process. This study was a field study with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study was science teachers at SMP N 3 Purworejo. Techniques used in data analysis was an interactive model by Miles & Huberman including data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result showed that learning resources used by science teachers include in the environment around the school, the environment around the residence of learners, and learning outside of school. The ability of science teachers to utilize learning resources, overall all science teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Purworejo was able to use it. Implications use of learning resources on the quality of science teachers in learning process was teacher able to give more motivation, maximize learning time, and maximize creativity.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a test of students’ critical and creative thinking skills on enzyme. This study was conducted using development and validation methods through six steps, i.e. (1) defining the construct and formulating objectives, (2) formatting items, (3) constructing items, (4) creating a scoring guide, (5) Judging items by experts, and (6) calculating validity, reliability, level of difficulty and discrimination by empirical study. This test was constructed two-tier test, which consists of the first tier as a multiple choice and the second tier as the reason from the first tier option. The participants were 61 undergraduate chemistry students who studied enzyme in a chemistry department. The results showed that item CVI value was 0.86 and item Cronbachs’ Alpha value was 0.843 (very high category). Item difficulty index (P) was 0.501, and Item discrimination index (D) was 0.328 which showed that the level of difficulty item in the medium category and level of discrimination in the good category. Out of initial 14 items, 3 items were excluded after the analysis of CVI, item difficulty index and item discrimination index. The revised 11-item test was found to have sufficient validity, reliability, item difficulty index and item discrimination index to measurement of enzyme concept mastery, critical thinking skills, and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) To compile a test construction to measure scientific literacy skills of integrated science-based high school MIPA program students by referring to the achievements of scientific literacy according to the 2015 PISA standard, (2) Conduct validation of test items using Rasch modeling. The research design uses ADDIE procedural models (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). There are three types of validation in the development of instruments namely content validation, psychometric aspects validation and extract validation with Rasch modeling. The instruments were tested on class XII students of the MIPA Program from Tegal City 2 High School and Tegal City 3 High School involving 112 students. The construction of the test consisted of 17 integrated science cases presented in the form of tests each consisting of three questions referring to scientific literacy competencies according to PISA standard 2015. Test items have fulfilled the validity of the content aspects and psychometric aspects. Extract validation using Rasch modeling gives the following results: (1) The level of item difficulty is in the range of -3 to 3, (2) There are 16 items that are compatible with modeling, (3) There are 97.32% of student responses suitable with modeling, (4) There are 2 items containing DIF. Based on consideration of all aspects of validity, there are 14 items worthy of being used as items for scientific literacy tests.

Abstract

The study aims to prepare lecturers on reflective pedagogy paradigm (RPP). This research was a mixed method. It was conducted with nine students and a model lecturer (mantee) who underwent mentoring. It was held in 4 meetings and observed by two observers. The assessment was conducted using data triangulation to a model lecturer based on video recording, reflection by mantee and students. The measure of process success was based on video recordings by ≥70%. The lecturer’s reflection to demonstrate the readiness in the teaching, and the student’s reflection is ≥ 60%. The results of mantee and student at every stage are: 81%, 69%, 88%, and 50%; 72%, 92%, 73%, and 85% of context, experience, reflection, and action. The results of the evaluation there was a significant difference before and after the learning based on RPP (p = 0.035). So, mentees was able to manage RPP and able to make students active to learn from theory to practice.
