Abstract

This study aims to describe the gadget phenomenon in early childhood social development. Technological developments, especially gadgets, have penetrated and even made early childhood consumers of gadgets. Despite the fact that gadgets are electronic tools for adult conversation, not toddlers. However, parents give gadgets in early childhood as a way to calm children. To see the social development of early childhood while using gadgets, the researchers used the case studies research method. Data collection was carried out by observation and interviews. The results of the study show that parents should consider what image they convey to their children and how they communicate responsible smartphone consumption. So that gadgets as technological advances can still be used, but the social development of early childhood as social beings is not disturbed by the preoccupation with using gadgets.

Abstract

Writing scientific articles that are integrated with learning biology is still rarely done. On the other hand, students' critical thinking skills need to be developed. One of the efforts is to develop students' thinking skills by writing scientific articles by optimizing digital and information literacy use. Scientific articles are used as student assignments in learning conservation and environmental knowledge through the group investigation learning model. This study aims to determine the effect of writing scientific articles through optimizing digital and information literacy on students' critical thinking skills. The method used in this research is quantitative with a non-experimental explanatory design. Data collection using a questionnaire with a Five Point Likert Scale. There were 43 respondents, of which 100 percent of the completed questionnaire was usable for further analysis. Data analysis in this study used a structural equation model with a partial less square analysis technique (SEM-PLS) using smart-pls 3.2.7 software at a significance level of 5% to predict the hypothesis. Structural Equation Modeling Estimation Shows that Digital Literacy, Information Literacy, and Article Writing Affect Students' Critical Thinking Skills. These findings indicate that writing scientific articles through optimizing digital and information literacy has an effect on students' critical thinking skills. Therefore, writing scientific articles through optimizing digital and information literacy is one method to improve students' critical thinking skills. The implication in the world of education, writing scientific articles through optimizing digital and information literacy can be used as an alternative task for students to improve critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Students in the learning process often experience social problems such as rampant aggressive behaviour. An environment that rarely instils local cultural values can trigger the erosion of ethics and morals. Through the cultivation of local wisdom, it is hoped that it will be able to reintroduce students to the cultural values that belong to Indonesia. Efforts to overcome student aggressiveness can be made with group guidance through the internalization of local wisdom values. This study aimed to describe the differences in student aggressiveness before and after being given a treatment of group guidance services through the internalization of local wisdom values (Indigenous Knowledge). The method used is pre-experimental with the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design approach. The population of this study were all students of class IX at a Madrasah Tsanawiyah. Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The data analysis technique using the T-test showed a value of t = 10.774 and sig (2-tailed) 0.000, meaning 0.000 ˂ 0.05. Based on score data, group guidance through the internalization of indigenous knowledge values is effective in reducing student aggressiveness.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic forced the teaching and learning system by distance. The purpose of this study to investigate the struggle and challenges were faced by students and teachers to ensure the effects on students’ learning achievement before and during distance learning. This research applied a descriptive qualitative method with some questionnaires that dealt with students’ perceptions of using distance learning. Moreover, this research applied interviews to compile the previous data from the questionnaire. The results showed that distance learning has impacts and effects. The impacts and effects were mostly negative, shown by the responses of students’ perception of using distance learning in questionnaires and interviews; namely, the networking was not good, the teaching was not clear, and it was difficult to understand the materials. On the other side, the teacher’s responses showed; that the learning process has not been completed, sometime the network is not good, the students were not disciplined either entering class or submitting assignments, and the students had a decline in motivation, interest, and enthusiasm in learning. For the effects, the students’ value of learning achievement declined significantly from good to fair. The data was taken from evaluation scoring at the end semester. In conclusion, there are a great deal of factors to consider in order to ensure a smooth learning experience when completing coursework online.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology has had a significant impact on various sectors, especially in the field of education. One of the developments in the field of education is electronic teaching materials. The data obtained in this study were obtained from observation and analysis of the needs of teachers and students at three state elementary schools in west sumatra. The method to be used in this research activity uses Research and Development (RD) using the 4D model. The 4-D model consists of four stages, namely defining design, development and implementation. Prior to performance, the product first goes through the validity stage by experts in their respective fields, researching using aspects of language, content, presentation and graphics to carry out validity. However, because some of the constraints of this research only extend to development, after expert validation tests and practicality of students and teachers have been carried out, it can be concluded that thematic teaching materials using the inquiry method-based Flipbook application are categorized as very valid and can be implemented.

Abstract

This paper has discussed the importance of creating reflective dialogue across contemporary and diverse cultures of higher education to facilitate mutual understanding and a desire to relate more to one another. This research explores important aspects related to the educational crisis by reviewing the conceptions and values of Islamic and Western education.  The method used qualitative research. The type of research is Library Research with descriptive analysis techniques. The analysis is carried out on data or content related to the theme of discussion and problems studied from library sources such as books and scientific journals. Data used books and related research. Previous research, notably Muhammad Syafiq Mughni and Yunus Abu Bakar, compares Islamic and Western secular education. Muhammad Syafiq and Yunus Abu Bakar discussed Islamic education theory and its consequences for its development. Nur studied western and Islamic education philosophies. This research found that Islamic and Western higher education values differ by presenting evidence of a reflective and critical educational legacy, so there is a need to revive the tradition of pedagogical curiosity to inspire the dialogue of cross-views that often occurs between Islam and the West, which allows both sides to acknowledge the differences in principles and reality and the inevitability of mutual understanding. Muslim higher education institutions that are emerging gradually, such as universities that are rapidly expanding, need to promote educational ideals of openness, critique, and conversation to instill an open paradigm of thinking and being scientific. This study emphasises the need to make Islamic Education Studies an integrative subject of empirical research and professional growth in Islamic and Western higher education institutions.

Abstract

One educational component that can aid in producing excellent learning results is the use of learning media. In Indonesia, word walls are used as a form of educational media as part of a larger attempt to boost learning outcomes for students. The purpose of this research is to find out how using word walls as a teaching tool for the Indonesian language affects the academic performance of primary school pupils in Palembang. The methodology of this investigation was quantitative. This study employed a pre-experimental design as its research methodology, which is an experimental approach. This study employed a single-group pre- and post-test research design. Thirty-three third-graders made up the study's sample. Tests are used to acquire data. T-tests are used as the approach for analysing the data. First, the average score was 56 on the test before using the word wall as a learning tool. Second, the average score after using word wall learning media is 70. Third, the t-test shows that the count t is greater than the table t (3.546 2.037). Thus, it can be concluded that there are significant differences in student learning outcomes in learning Indonesian before and after the use of word wall learning media. This study recommends teachers to use word walls in Indonesian learning as an alternative to existing learning media

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of humanist theory in the development of religious character in inclusive schools. The research method used is grounded theory design which aims to emphasize conceptual thinking and theory formation from the application of constructivism theory in developing religious character in inclusive schools. This is because; (1) the limitations of children with disabilities in developing their potential, (2) constructivism theory gives students freedom in constructing ideas related to religious character, and (3) the obstacles of children with disabilities in constructing ideas, ideas and knowledge. The results of the research on students' knowledge construction process in inclusive schools are very varied. Children with cognitive disabilities and autism have difficulty constructing knowledge, but it is more a process of repeated habituation.  For children with disabilities, there is no problem in constructing knowledge but difficulty in implementing it in the form of behavior. Visually impaired children need other people as sensory aids and have no problems in behavioural practice, while speech and hearing impaired children have difficulty adjusting to normal learning patterns, because they cannot hear and speak and need teachers who can sign language. So cognitive and mental limitations hinder the process of constructing knowledge of religious character, for the implementation of character values is carried out by habituation of patterned behaviour by strengthening the process.
