Al Ishlah Jurnal Pendidikan
This journal focuses on advancing scholarly research and critical discourse in the field of education. It publishes original research articles that address contemporary issues and emerging trends in curriculum development, instructional practices, learning processes, educational policy, and teacher preparation. The journal aims to contribute to the development of educational theory and practice in both national and international contexts. The journal also welcomes submissions related to environmental education and studies that examine learning through psychological, social, cultural, cognitive, and historical perspectives. Research that explores the interrelationships among teaching, knowledge construction, learner development, and educational contexts is particularly encouraged. Furthermore, the journal accepts research and academic discussions across a broad range of subject matter within education, including mathematics education, religious education, language pedagogy and English for Specific Purposes (ESP), natural sciences, social sciences, history, chemistry, and other related educational disciplines. The journal includes the following thematic sections: Learning: Theoretical and empirical investigations concerning learning processes and their development across diverse contexts. Issues and Trends: Analytical and interpretive essays addressing current educational, social, and philosophical issues. Learning in Everyday Life: Studies of learning experiences occurring outside formal academic settings, such as in homes, communities, digital environments, and cultural institutions. Teacher Education: Research on teacher preparation, professional development, and the broader conditions shaping the teaching profession. Education Policy: Critical analyses of educational policies, their principles, implementation, and effects on educational practice. Comments and Criticism: Scholarly dialogue aimed at clarifying, challenging, or expanding upon previously published works. Book Reviews: Reviews of recent publications relevant to the field of education. The Editorial Board invites manuscripts employing rigorous quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method approaches that demonstrate academic originality and significant contribution to educational scholarship. All submissions must present a thorough review of relevant literature, articulate a clearly defined research problem or argument, and provide well-grounded conclusions addressing implications and limitations.

<![CDATA[The study's purpose was to obtain the concept of the value of local wisdom in the digital era with the existence of an independent learning policy on an independent campus. This study analyzed all research data related to the value of local wisdom and MBKM that has been carried out by previous researchers. This study was a literature review research through a qualitative approach. The research data was taken from research results that have been published in national and international journals in the period 2010-2022. The data analysis stage used in this study was a qualitative approach which includes: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study resulted in the concept of applying local wisdom values that were compatible with the application of the MBKM policy and were also related to advances in digital technology with all the demands for quality human resources. Educators and educational institutions must work together to develop local wisdom values in MBKM policy-based learning. Educators can use the results of this research as theoretical input for developing learning facilities]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study is to accurately and authentically explain character building at the Pondok Pesantren Riyadhul Muhibbin in Balangan Regency, South Kalimantan Province, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, as well as the models used in the process. The qualitative descriptive method was applied in this investigation. The data for this study came from interviews with the caretaker's head, who served as the primary source of information, as well as ustadz and priests, as well as 25 students and their parents. Documentation as supporting data from the interviews and observations in the form of passive participation observations. The character education paradigm in this pesantren reflects the inspirational contribution of Tuan Guru Sekumpul, KH. Muhammad Zaini al-Banjari, a renowned figure and excellent scholar. He was made an idol for the santri so that his example, from childhood to becoming a charismatic preacher in the 1990s, might influence character formation by emphasizing akhlakul karimah, which became a common habit and formed from humanity's collective conscience.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to investigate the effect of the literary reading program on students’ reading abilities. This study also focused on improving reading skills in inferential and critical context aspects. An experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used in the study. 100 student from the fourth semester of the Extensive Reading Online Class was used as a sample. The researchers used a purposeful sampling method in choosing the sample in this research. This research was held at UIN Mataram's English Department from March to June 2022. Three types of data were collected during the data collection process: 1) documents, 2) observations, and 3) reading tests. The technique of analyzing data used a t-test with two samples paired. The findings of this study showed that the t-stat value is the calculated t-value, which is 7,886. While the value of P(T=t) one tail is the p-value which is 2.099 and the critical one-tail t is the t-table value which is 1.66. It means that t-stat (7.886) t table (1.66), then Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. It concluded that the literary reading program had a positive effect on the reading skills of English students. The findings show that literary works can be used as authentic teaching materials in learning to read English, allowing students to understand the meaning of reading not only at the literal level but also at a deeper level based on context.]]>

<![CDATA[This article aims to evaluate the programs organised by a professional learning community in Indonesia, MGMP (Subject Teacher Conference), as a forum for teachers' professional development with two principles: communal deliberation and subject teachers. Forty teachers were randomly selected and surveyed (N = 40), and three school inspectors were interviewed (N = 3). This recent study employed a mixed-method design. Furthermore, a content analysis was carried out to study the standards of MGMP development. Findings revealed that the programs have been consistent with the underlying principles of MGMP and are effective for Social Science teachers' development. Although more attention should be given to teachers' real performance in classes, the researchers believe regular meetings have provided teachers with opportunities to exchange ideas, discover solutions, and create a pool of current information and valuable experiences. The communal deliberation is contextual to the practice of PLC in Indonesia. It never changes the goal objective to improve teachers' professional development to improve student's quality of learning. It strengthens the spirit of collegiality in teachers' cooperation and collaboration.]]>

<![CDATA[The research was conducted at a university in Mojokerto Regency. The selection of this area is because Mojokerto district has a geographical location close to the city of Surabaya, the capital of the province of East Java and Malang, which we know as a student city in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the accreditation of decision-making through promotion. The method used in this study uses a quantitative method with an explanatory research design, which means explaining the relationship of each variable in selecting the sample using probability sampling with a random sampling approach. The analytical tool used is to use a validity test and a reliability test where the instrument is declared valid if r count r table, while it is declared reliable if the Cronbach alpha value is 0.60. hypothesis testing using techniques analysis SEM (structural equation modelling) or AMOS (analysis of moment structure). The steps taken in the SEM analysis are by developing a model based on concepts and theories, construct-path chart, Conversion of a path diagram to a structural model, elect matrix input, Solution standard model, and goodness evaluation of fit index and Interpretation and modification. The results of hypothesis testing in this study indicate that the three hypotheses have a significant effect, and the promotion variable is able to mediate the study program accreditation variable on decision-making.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to describe the contribution of critical reading skills to students' exposition text writing skills, to describe the contribution of scientific vocabulary mastery to students' exposition text writing skills, to describe the contribution of students' critical reading skills and scientific vocabulary mastery to students' exposition text writing skills. This type of research is quantitative with a descriptive method using a correlational design. The population of this research is the students of class X senior high school totalling 223 people. Sampling was carried out using proportional random sampling. The number of research samples was 45 students. The research instrument is an objective test and a performance test. The research data were in the form of exposition text writing skill scores, critical reading skills test scores, and students' scientific vocabulary mastery scores which were converted into grades. Data analysis used the Pearson product-moment correlation test, multiple correlation test, t-test, f-test, and determinant coefficient to determine the contribution of the independent and dependent variables. The results showed that critical reading skills contributed significantly 36.72% to the skill of writing exposition texts. Mastery of scientific vocabulary contributed significantly by 36.97% to the skill of writing expository text. Critical reading skills and scientific vocabulary mastery together contribute to the skill of writing expository text by 42.25%. In conclusion, critical reading skills and scientific vocabulary mastery together have a significant contribution to exposition text writing skills. ]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this article was to provide an informative description of the various characteristics of learning people. The method in this study used a literature study using a qualitative approach through collecting relevant references regarding the diversity of people who learn. This research was a type of literature review research with a qualitative approach. The research procedure consists of: (1) the preparation stage in determining the topic, (2) the implementation stage of searching for relevant reference sources, and (3) the stage of writing down the findings from various reference sources. Reference sources traced in this study come from books and articles that have been published by online journals at 2000-2020. The data analysis stage used in this study was a qualitative approach which includes: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Characteristics of learners can be defined as individual mental factors that can affect learning activities. Multiple intelligence is provided with a special category of intelligence directly for each individual. The conclusion obtained is that every individual who learns is unique in understanding material and information. Therefore, a teacher or educator needs to provide the right model and method to optimize the ability of students to improve their competencies.]]>

<![CDATA[Essay writing skills are able to predict a person's success in higher education because the processes involved when composing it are indeed able to hone the abilities or skills of a student in academic life. This study aims to improve the essay writing skills of English Education students by applying the collaborative writing strategy. Classroom Action Research design is applied to answer the research questions, and then there are two cycles conducted successfully in the research. Each cycle consists of several stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation, divided into three meetings. The research data were collected by assessing students’ writing in each cycle and analyzed using the band score from NCTE. The study results indicate an increase in the quality of students' essay writing skills after doing the writing process through Collaborative Writing in several aspects of writing. The effectiveness of this strategy was seen that more than 75% of students involved got their writing scores improved. It proves that the fruitful collaboration and interaction among students in collaborative work enhances the quality of writing, making it better and worth reading.]]>

<![CDATA[Students as prospective counsellors need to understand the theory of counselling approaches well to carry out effective counselling practicums. This study aims to develop a mobile learning design for a cognitive counselling approach to improve counselling skills in students. This type of research is research and development. The data collection technique used a questionnaire to determine student and lecturer perceptions of mobile learning media in learning. The sample in this study were 116 students and 38 lecturers of guidance and counselling in Indonesia who were selected using a simple random sampling technique. The results showed that 22.4% of students thought that mobile learning could help the learning process of the counselling approach, and 54% of lecturers thought that mobile learning was needed in learning activities. The mobile learning cognitive counselling approach is a website-based media consisting of 9 features: landing page, login page, initial test, material, final test, chat room, record, developer profile, and contact. The developed mobile learning has been validated by media experts and is declared suitable for learning activities. The researcher tested the effectiveness of mobile learning on 14 students of Yogyakarta State University. The data analysis used the Wilcoxon signed-ranked test and showed the p-value at 0,0000,005, which means that mobile learning effectively improves students' understanding of counselling approaches. Mobile learning contributes as a novelty in guidance and counselling as an innovative media that can be used in the university to deliver content for students in guidance and counselling study programs]]>

<![CDATA[STEAM approach is one of the learning strategies that connect between fields of science with the aim of training critical, creative, innovative thinking skills and student problem-solving skills. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of STEAM-based mathematics learning at one of the junior high schools in Surakarta. This type of research is qualitative descriptive with the subjects were 16 students of class IX and one STEAM learning teacher. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observations, and documentation. The process of data analysing is through data reduction techniques, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of STEAM-based mathematics learning implemented a shift system where the number of student attendance was only 50% of the total number of students in the class. The learning process is using the Project Based Learning model because mathematics learning in one of the junior high schools in Surakarta is implemented into the creation of a STEAM project with group discussion methods. STEAM-based mathematics learning covers aspects of STEAM. Science is associated with everyday problems such as applying pascal’s law to elevators. Technology implemented on the use of tools and materials. Engineering is associated with the ability of students in solving problems, one of which is in assembling a project. Art includes the ability of students to create a project. Mathematics is related to calculating and measuring a project. As for the problems experienced by teachers and students during the pandemic of the new normal era, is the estimated time given to complete a project.]]>
