Abstract

This study aimed to develop mathematics learning tools to help children with special needs of dyscalculia in elementary school. The procedural development of the device was through a 4-D model consisting of four phases; defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. However, based on the research objectives, this development was limited only to the development stage (develop), which is to the learning device testing activities. So the development of learning tools in this study consisted of three main stages, namely: defining, designing, and development. The results of this study illustrated that learning devices for children with dyscalculia learning disorders could help children more easily deal with learning difficulties. Specifically, it is on the topic of sequencing numbers, addition, and subtraction of integers.

Abstract

Students often have difficulty in understanding chemistry lessons, especially Colligative Properties. Teachers should have systematic learning plans so that students understand the content of learning well. Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) is effective to be used in the learning process because it becomes an idea in designing detailed learning paths. Besides that, learning outcomes can be achieved well and optimally. This study uses qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data processing is carried out based on four assessment criteria. First, student responses that appear based on response predictions, second, student ability test scores, third, analysis of learning activities, and finally science process skills (SPS). The results showed that the didactic presented by the teacher as a student learning path was good enough. Only 12% of student responses are beyond predictions. Furthermore, student SPS through the use of HLT shows that classification and communication skills have a high value, respectively 82% and 81%. Meanwhile, based on Piaget's approach, students' conceptual abilities are better (56%), compared to other abilities. Therefore, the application of HLT to the material of colligative properties towards students is very good.

Abstract

This study aimed to explain the development of the Human Resources model at IAIN Lhokseumawe in particular and Islamic Universities in general. The results showed that Human Resource Development at IAIN Lhokseumawe had focused on factors of trust, emotional ties, power relations, and career cycles. However, it had no discipline, did not have a platform that was designed and integrated, did not utilize the spirit of religion and culture as strong energy for the development of human resources. Therefore, IAIN Lhokseumawe is in a need of a comprehensive and futuristic human resource development model. This model was built based on HRD factors, HRD aspects, HRD methods, and HRD strategies/steps. HRD factors were emphasized on the platform designed, the work balance between employees, discipline, and the utilization of the potential of cultural plurality and Islamic spirit as an intrinsic power of human resource development. The development was carried out in an integrated and parallel way between individual development, career, organization, and performance management through flexible work arrangements, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of innovative technologies in a sustainable and strong leadership system.

Abstract

Since 2008, district/city governments in Aceh have received special autonomy funds transfers from the central government. This study aimed to assess the absolute and conditional convergence of HDI in Aceh, and examine the effect of special autonomy funds and other socio-economic variables on HDI conditional convergence during the implementation of special autonomy in Aceh. The data used were secondary data with panel data covering 23 districts/cities in Aceh in 2008-2017. The analysis model used was the convergence model with the Fixed Effect panel regression analysis approach; testing analytical tools used the Hausman Test, Chow Test, and statistical tests. The regression results of the fixed effect model revealed that the occurrence of absolute HDI convergence in districts/cities in Aceh. The estimation of conditional convergence indicated that population density played a significant and significant role in driving the convergence of HDI districts/city. Special autonomy funds had a positive influence but were not significant to encourage the HDI convergence process. It was also followed by the number of working people who did not significantly influence the HDI. Therefore, policymakers in districts/cities in Aceh must continue to pay serious attention in an effort to accelerate human development, through human development priorities sourced from Aceh's special autonomy fund.

Abstract

This article attempts to discuss the practice of democratic governance in contemporary Indonesia. This study is essential since Indonesia is one of the countries transitioning from authoritarianism towards democracy following the fall of Suharto’s regime. This study shall answer whether democratic governance in Indonesia experiences a crisis, with a focus of analysis on the four dimensions of democratic governance, namely: (1) rule of law, (2) human rights, (3) civil society, and (4) elections and political process. This study applies a qualitative method by collecting data from document studies and literary studies. The findings in this study indicate that democratic governance in Indonesia experiences a crisis as evidenced by the remaining-weak legal supremacy in Indonesia, and the existence of violations of the implementation of human rights, eventually led to horizontal conflicts. The inability of civil society organizations to carry out their functions in democratization as an intermediary between the community and the state as well as to influence government policies for the public interest. Another recent weakness is there are still strong issues related to primordialism in the occasion of General Elections. This crisis of democratic governance shall bring Indonesia to "the decline of democracy" instead of democratic consolidation.

Abstract

Employability has become an increasingly relevant construct in modern turbulent world economic markets especially in this industrial revolution 4.0 era. Perceived employability involves self-perceived ability to achieve sustainable employment appropriate to one’s level of qualifications. Individual and family-related variables have been identified as predictors of employability in undergraduate students. However, the roles of career action behaviors of planning the future career and exploration of the world of work in these relationships are rarely known. This study aimed to examine the paths from proactive personality and family influence to employability via career planning and exploration. We collected data from 321 undergraduate students from a university in Semarang, Indonesia, M age = 19.89 years, SD age = 5.39, 67.3% female. We used scales of proactive personality, family influence, career planning, career exploration, and employability to collect the data. Structural equation modeling showed that the paths from proactive personality and family influence to employability were all partially mediated by career planning and exploration. Our results underlined the roles of career planning and exploration as mechanisms by which proactive personality and family influence exerted their influences on employability in undergraduate students. The recommendations of the findings of this study are discussed.
