Abstract

The existence of a Student Worksheet (LKPD) is able to improve the ability to understand students' concepts. This research aims to develop LKPD based on ethnomathematics of batik motifs typical of Magelang in terms of the ability to understand concepts based on validity, practicality, and effectiveness in geometric transformation materials. The type of research used is research and development (R&D) with a 4D model, namely the defining stage, the design stage, the development stage, and the deployment stage. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Tegalrejo with a sample of 31 students in class IX B. The results showed that an LKPD based on ethnomathematics of batik motifs typical of Magelang was produced to increase understanding of the concept of geometric transformation that is valid or feasible in terms of the validity value of LKPD by material expert validators and teaching material expert validators, which is 86.31% with a very valid category. Judging from the practicality value of LKPD by the response of students, which is 89.61% with a very practical category. The results of the standard gain increased concept understanding ability were obtained by 5 low classification learners, 10 medium classification students, and 16 high classification students. Increasing understanding of the concept of geometric transformation using LKPD based on ethnomathematics of batik motifs typical of Magelang in terms of the effectiveness value of the pretest and posttest results calculated using the standard gain formula <g> , which is 0.62 with a moderate category, so that LKPD is said to be effective.

Abstract

As many as 7.03% of people with disabilities in Indonesia are deaf people. The problem for deaf students is the lack of mathematics learning resources during learning and the low mathematical communication skills of deaf students. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development of sign language learning videos to improve mathematical communication of deaf students of fractional material in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The method used is the R&D method with a 4D model. The results showed that the validity of the media resulted in a very valid category by sign language experts with a score of 85% and material experts with a score of 83% and categories valid by media experts with a score of 78.5%. The results of media practicality of 100% for teacher and student responses and learning implementation questionnaires are said to be very practical. The results of the control class pretest and the experiment resulted in a sig value. > 0.05, then the data is normal. Homogeneity test with (6,14) <  (19) on pretest questions and (4,68) <  (19) on posttest questions then homogeneous data. Student scores resulted in a difference in the average student learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class indicated by the T test results with the sig value. (0.001) < 0.05. The average value of the N Gain of the experimental class is greater than that of the control class, which is 0.9721 with a high category. so that the media is said to be valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of differences in learning models on problem-solving ability, the influence of differences in student learning styles on problem-solving ability, and the interaction between learning models and student learning styles on problem-solving ability. The design of this study is a pseudo-experimental design. The samples in this study were students of class VII A and class VII C of SMP Negeri 3 Muntilan who were selected by cluster random sampling. Based on the results of the hypothesis test conducted with the two-way ANAVA test, the results were obtained that 1) there were differences in the influence of learning models on problem-solving ability; 2) there is no difference in the influence of the four learning styles on problem-solving ability; 3) there is no interaction between the learning model and the student’s learning style on problem-solving ability. The conclusions of this study are 1) students with ethnomathematics-based PBL models have better problem-solving abilities than students with direct learning models; 2) students with convergent, divergent, assimilated, and accommodation learning styles with an ethnomathematics-based PBL models have better problem-solving abilities than students with direct learning models.

Abstract

This study aims to explore ethnomathematics in the traditional game Galasin in Jakarta on mathematical concepts such as gradients, point to point distance, and vectors. This study uses an ethnographic approach to obtain a description of an in-depth analysis of a culture based on the information that has been obtained and by conducting observations and interviews in data collection. This research focuses on one of the traditional games in Jakarta, namely the Galasin game as a form of understanding ethnomathematics in mathematical concepts such as vectors, gradients, and point to point distances. This shows that the traditional game Galasin in Jakarta has a connection with mathematical concepts and forms of deepening in previous studies which have links with geometric mathematical concepts such as flat shapes. The existence of traditional game media in learning mathematics can provide benefits, namely visualizing mathematics learning in a real form so that students become more understanding and easier to understand learning the mathematical concepts being studied.

Abstract

Development of 21st century education requires students to have literacy skills. National Assessment, which is the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) as a basic competency needed by students so that a numeracy assessment is needed as a source of training to improve students' numeracy skills. Study uses the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model. Subjects were 10 students at empirical validity (small-scale trials) and 46 students at implementation (large-scale trials). This study consisted of a needs analysis questionnaire, a student response questionnaire, and a numeration test instrument totaling 15 questions (13 multiple choices, 2 short entries). The results obtained by 6 material expert validators of 0.93 are categorized as very valid, consistent reliability on small-scale trials is 0.79 and the reliability of large-scale trials of 0.70 is categorized as high, the distinguishing power of 10 items is categorized as high and 5 items are categorized as high. items categorized as low, and the level of difficulty obtained 2 items with difficult and easy categories, and 11 items categorized as medium. The results of the student questionnaire obtained 70.25 categorized as good. To produce valid instrument items and can be used as a source of practice to improve students' numeracy skills.

Abstract

This research was conducted at MTs Sunan Muria Ploso with the aim of describing the application of realistic mathematics education material of row and arithmetic series. Some research said that, in schools, applies mathematical concepts directly which causes students to feel bored quickly and the methods used are less varied. In order for mathematics learning to be creative, interesting and fun, then one way is to apply the Realistic Mathematics Learning approach. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with 40 students of class VIII-D MTs Sunan Muria Ploso as the subjects. Data collection techniques using the method of documentation, and interviews conducted by researchers with students. The data analysis technique in this research is qualitative data analysis, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research instrument is a test and interview guide. The results showed that the arithmetic series material can be applied well with the RME approach. The conclusion of this study is that the Learning with Realistic Mathematics approach can support students in understanding and determining arithmetic series formulas, students use various symbols in implementing them so as to help students understand the concepts of arithmetic series.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze student mathematical reasonings abilities in terms of learnings style according to Bobbi DePorter. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this studies were students of class VIII A and VIII F at SMPN 13 Magelang. The instruments used include learnings styles questionnaires, test questions with indicator of mathematical reasonings abilities, interviews, and documentation. The result of the study showed that from 58 students there were 30 students with visual learning styles, 15 students with auditory learning styles, and 13 students with kinesthetic learnings style. Class VIII students at SMPN 13 Magelang tend to have a visuals learnings styles. The mathematical reasoning abilities of student with visuals learnings style is classified at the moderate level with a percentage of 61.8%, Auditory learning style is classified as medium level with a percentage of 69.3%, and kinesthetic learning style is classifieds as low level with a percentage of 54.7%. So it can be concludes that the mathematical reasonings abilities of class VIII student at SMPN 13 Magelang is classified as moderate.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe students' mathematical inductive reasoning ability viewed from visual, auditorial, and kinesthetic learning styles in the Sequence and Series material. The type of research used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The instruments of this study were mathematical inductive reasoning ability tests, learning style questionnaires, and interview guidelines.  The subjects of this study were six students of Class XI MIPA-2 SMA Negeri 1 Kota Serang that representing each learning style. The results showed that 1) students with a visual learning style were able to do transductive reasoning, analogies, used relationship patterns to analyze situations, compiled conjectures and could estimate answers, and they were able to explain patterns; 2) students with auditorial learning styles were able to do transductive reasoning, analogies, used relationship patterns to analyze situations, compiled conjectures and  could estimate answers;  3) students with a kinesthetic learning style were able to do transductive reasoning, analogies, could use relationship patterns to analyze situations and compiled conjectures, and they were able to make generalizations.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of the problem-based learning (PBL) model assisted by Google Site on the students’ mathematical concept understanding ability. This type of research uses quantitative research with an experimental method. The subject is two classes, 30 students in VIII G as the experimental class and 30 students in VIII I as the control class. The data collection technique uses a description test in the materials in flat-sided shape and interviews for observation. Technique data analysis using the t-test with SPSS version 26 and determining the magnitude of the effect using the effect size test. The result obtained that the average mathematical concept understanding ability of students who receive learning with the PBL model assisted by Google Site is better than students who receive learning with conventional learning. Thus, it can be shown that a significant effect of applying the PBL model assisted by Google Site on the mathematical concept understanding ability. The effect size on the students’ post-test is 1.85. This shows that the effect of the problem-based learning model assisted by Google Site on the students’ mathematical concept understanding ability is in the high category.

Abstract

The development of technology is certainly very helpful for developing the world of education. But, many learning activities are carried out using conventional methods, namely lectures with books and blackboards which result in boring learning and poor critical thinking skills on the initial test. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive media used to improve critical thinking skills. Research using the ADDIE model shows that the developed interactive media has very valid criteria based on the media validator's assessment of 97.67 and the material validator's assessment of 57 categories. The media developed with very practical criteria based on student practicality questionnaires of 85.06% and teacher practicality questionnaires of 96% categories. In addition, the developed media obtained an effectiveness score of 90.63% based on the posttest of critical thinking skills. From the above findings, it can be concluded that interactive media can be used validly, practically, and effectively to improve critical thinking skills.
