Abstract

Introduction: The most common post-odontectomy bleeding complications were bleeding cases on the first day with a prevalence of 96.6%. Complications of post-odontectomy bleeding if it lasts a long time and is not treated immediately can cause hypovolemic shock, fainting, and further can cause death. Rambutan leaves (Nephelium lappaceum Linn) have several active compounds of tannins, flavonoids, and saponins which have properties to help the hemostatic process by shortening bleeding time. Aims: To examine the effect of rambutan leaves extract (Nephelium lappaceum Linn) on tail bleeding time in balb-C strain mice. Methods: Twelve mice were randomly selected and divided into three groups accordingly; group K- (distilled water), group K+ (tranexamic acid 0.065 mg/g BW), and group P (rambutan leaves extract 260 mg/kg BW). After 60 minutes, the tails of mice were cut along 0.5 cm from the tip of the tail. Bleeding time was observed by turning on the stopwatch along with cutting the tail of the mice and turning it off after the bleeding stopped. Results: Rambutan leaves extract (Nephelium lappaceum Linn) intake at a dose of 260 mg/kg BW had a significant effect (p=0.021) on tail bleeding time, which was to shorten the bleeding time of cutting the tails of mice with Balb-C strain. Conclusions: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that rambutan leaves extract (Nephelium lappaceum Linn) has a significant effect on tail bleeding time, which can shorten the bleeding time of cutting the tail of mice with balb-C strain. Keywords: post odontectomy bleeding complications, bleeding time, rambutan leaves extract

Abstract

One of the important components in removable orthodontic appliances is the base. The material that is often used as a base is self-cured or autopolymerized acrylic resin (Orthoresin). The base of orthodontic appliances will always be in contact with saliva and become a place of attachment for microorganisms, besides that on the base of removable orthodontic appliances there are two surfaces, namely the unpolished base surface that facing the mucosa and the polished base surface. This unpolished surface causes the surface to become rough so that it can increase the accumulation of dental plaque and become a retention factor for bacteria to stick to one of them is Streptococcus mutans. Therefore, it is possible to prevent bacterial colonization with organic or non-organic inhibitors. denture cleaning by immersing the denture in a cleaning solution containing a disinfectant. This research used organic material to be used as an inhibitor with antibacterial content, namely edamame (Glycine max L. Merril). As conclusion, edamame extract with concentrations of 50% and 75% effective in inhibiting the growth of S. mutans on the basis of removable orthodontic appliances. Keywords: edamame extract; S. mutans; orthodontic appliance base

Abstract

The disruption of the global pharmaceutical supply chain due to the COVID-19 pandemic has placed the independence of pharmaceutical preparations as a priority in realizing national pharmaceutical resilience given the high dependence of the domestic pharmaceutical industry on imported raw materials. This study aims to determine the strategies and achievements of Indonesia's bilateral health diplomacy in meeting the national resource gap in the context of building pharmaceutical sector resilience. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a case study design by utilizing data obtained from literature studies. The results showed that Indonesia's bilateral health diplomacy through the making of bilateral health cooperation agreements, organizing business forums, and working visits to partner countries proved to be able to fill the gap in efforts to build national pharmaceutical resilience through strengthening pharmaceutical resources, implementing technology transfer, concrete business cooperation between pharmaceutical companies, and increasing foreign direct investment. However, diplomacy improvement and refinement of the achievements of bilateral health diplomacy need to be continued so that bilateral health diplomacy can provide real benefits for the development of national pharmaceutical security. Keywords: bilateral agreements; business forums; health diplomacy; pharmaceutical resistance; working visits

Abstract

Malaria in Bintan Regency is a health problem because several areas are endemic. This study aimed to describe the epidemiology of malaria cases in Bintan Regency in 2018-2021 based on person, place, and time. This type of research was descriptive with a population of all malaria cases recorded at the Bintan District Health Office for the period January 2018 to December 2021. The sample was the total population. Variables collected include trend of malaria cases, annual API, age, sex, plasmodium type, type of case, time, and place. Secondary data was obtained from the SISMAL application of the Riau Islands Province Health Office. Data analysis was performed to describe malaria endemicity. The results of the study showed that the endemicity of malaria in Bintan Regency from 2018-2021 was getting better. The majority of malaria cases for the 2018-2021 period were 15-64 years old and male. Based on the highest time in May and July 2020 with distribution locations in the working areas of Kawal health center and Berakit health center. The type of plasmodium falciparum parasite in 2018-2019 and 2020-2021 was infected with plasmodium vivax. The case type was derived from the original malaria case. The majority of treatments used Artemisinin-Based Combination Therapy (ACT).Keywords: malaria; plasmodium; archipelago

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2). So far, the incidence of direct blood-borne transmission is not widely known. This is because the viremia of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection is very small, between 2-3 days after infection. Immunoglobulin M (IgM) is an antibody that is formed in the early days of a person being infected with the virus, which is around the third day and can persist in the blood for up to 3-4 months after infection. The purpose of this study was to perform serodiagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in blood donors in Surabaya. The type of research used is an experimental laboratory with an exploratory research design. The research sample consisted of 100 donor blood samples from UTD PMI Surabaya. Rapid diagnostic test examination at the Immunology Laboratory, Medical Laboratory Technology Department, and the Immunoserology Laboratory of BBLK Surabaya, Indonesia for antibody titer examination using the ELISA method in May 2022. Results of antibody analysis against SARS-CoV- 2 in blood donors in Surabaya by 58% (Cut Off Index = 0.1569), so further research is needed on factors that can affect the formation of antibodies. Keywords: SARS-CoV-2 IgG; SARS-CoV-2 IgM; blood donor

Abstract

Mothers often experience the problem of a lack of milk production due to malnutrition or malnutrition, working mothers, sore nipples, only a small amount of milk coming out or disturbed mental peace. The Ministry of Health or the Republic of Indonesia targets exclusive breastfeeding up to 80%. One effort to increase milk production is by doing complementary therapies that affect milk production, for example back acupressure. The purpose of this study was to identify increased milk production in breastfeeding mothers before and after back acupressure and baby positions-latch on. This study was a case report, involving 3 breastfeeding mothers. Data were collected through interviews and observation. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in milk production after acupressure was performed on the scapula and T1-T6 area for two weeks (twice a week) combined with the correct positioning of the baby. Before the procedure, the milk production was between 80-120 ml and after the procedure, the milk production was between 95-125 ml. Back-squat and baby-attachment positions can increase milk production in nursing mothers. It is hoped that breastfeeding mothers can increase milk production through back acupressure combined with the correct positioning of the baby. Keywords: back acupressure; breast milk production; baby positions-latch on
