Abstract

Statistics has wide uses for making the right decisions in various areas of life, because statistics give a person the knowledge and ability to evaluate data. Through this research, researchers hope to create a new learning model from the results of the development of the Two Way Anova Design Block Statistical Test that can be used as a decision-making tool in the analysis of data on the growth results of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on alternative media from sorghum media. The results obtained in this study, that in the variation of the sorghum period 4 grams, 5 grams, and 6 grams both in dilution with aqua distillation and meat broth the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in contrast to the growth in mannitol salt agar (positive control) media. Meanwhile, in the periodic variation of 7 grams of sorghum in both aqua distillation and meat broth, there is no difference in the growth in mannitol salt agar media. Two way Anova block design, used if the experimental material is grouped. So that each group aranges a replication for the treatment. The treatment was given randomly to each group. Based on statistical method approach block design, we find alternative mannitol salt agar media into sorghum.

Abstract

Complementary therapy is a therapeutic therapy to improve people's health status by preventing and treating disease and improving health. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of complementary wet cupping therapy on changes in white blood cells hematological parameters in smoking and non-smoking fishing communities. The research design used a pretest-posttest design. The sample size was 52 fishermen aged 20-50 years, which were divided into two groups, namely (1) group A: 26 smoking fishermen who were given wet cupping therapy, (2) group B: 26 non-smoker fishermen were also given wet cupping therapy. This research took place at the Coastal Health Center of Lalongasomeeto. Data were analyzed using the Paired Samples T-Test and the Wilcoxon test. There was a change after being given wet cupping therapy, the value of hematological parameters related to white blood cells in smoking fishermen, in WBC, neutrophils, and lymphocytes with a p-value less than 0.05, whereas in non-smoking fishermen after wet cupping therapy, p-value less than 0.05 was found in WBCs, neutrophils, basophils, neutrophils, and eosinophils. Complementary wet cupping therapy is beneficial and recommended to improve the health and endurance of coastal communities, fishermen who smoke and fishermen who do not smoke. Keywords: fishermen; smoking; wet cupping therapy; hematology; white blood cell

Abstract

Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) is the rate of deposition of erythrocytes in the a tube filled with blood that has been anticoagulated vertical and left for a certain time. Based on the use of materials that silver humans use screen printing paint as a dye and thinner as a paint solvent, The main chemical component of thinner is toluene. Toluene have a high severity of health impacts and if inhaled in the long term will cause an impact serious health problems and can affect erythrocyte sedimentation rate values and sunshine at 12:00 to the afternoon can increases the risk of skin cancer and causes inflammation thus affecting the value of the erythrocyte sedimentation rate. The purpose of this research to measure and analyze differences in sedimentation rate values blood on silver humans based on hours worked in the city Semarang. This type of research was descriptive with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken as many as 20 silver human samples during working hours at 07:00-12:00 and silver man at hours work at 12:00-17:00 in Semarang City then checked the value of the erythrocyte sedimentation rate using the ESR examination method westergreen. The results showed the average value of erythrocyte sedimentation rate silver man working hours 07:00-12:00 was 11.4 mm/hour, while the average value of the silver human erythrocyte sedimentation rate in hours working hours 12:00-17:00 was 19 mm/hour. Data obtained then analyzed by statistical test Independent Sample T-Test. The results of statistical tests show that there was a difference with p-value of 0.028. The conclusions of this research are: the difference in the value of the erythrocyte sedimentation rate in silver humans in hours working hours 07;00-12:00 and silver man working hours 12:00-17:00 in the city of Semarang. Keywords: erythrocyte sedimentation rate; value; silver man

Abstract

Corona disease (Covid-19) has become a global pandemic. In Indonesia, on 2020 there were 3,512 positive cases, with 306 people dying, the mortality rate is 9.1%. East Java has the highest Covid-19 death rate in Indonesia. The aim of this study was to identify the factors associate with the mortality of Covid-19 patients. The present study was conducted based on a retrospective analysis of the medical records of patients hospitalised at Ngudi Waluyo Hospital between March 2020 to September 2021. The study included all cases of patients with a complete medical records data. A total of 1.494 cases were included. The bivariate analysis using Chi-Square Test and univariate by Binary Logistic Regression analysis to evaluate the association between risk factors and mortality. The results showed a relationship between age, gender comobid and comobid classification. The main risk factor of mortality was the presence of comorbidities (p = 0.005; OR = 1,494; 95% CI = 1.132-1.071). The second factor was age (p=0.000; OR=1.419; 95% CI=1.308 – 1.540). Risk factors associated with mortality for patients with Covid-19 in the hospital included advanced age, presence of comorbid and gender. Risk factors of mortality were the presence of comorbidities and age. Keywords: age; gender; comobid; mortality; Covid-19

Abstract

The prevalence of MRSA in various hospitals in the world ranges from 2-70% with an average of 20% .In recent decades there has been an increasing prevalence of S. aureus and MRSA in the world. Population-based studies in North America and Europe indicate the prevalence of S. aureus is between 18-30%. The overall prevalence of MRSA in Asia has reached 70%, while publications and prevalence of MRSA in Indonesia are still very limited and very difficult to obtain. The prevalence of MRSA in Atmajaya Hospital, Jakarta, reached 47%. Yuwono also reported in 2010 MRSA at Dr. RSUP. Moh. Hoesin Palembang reached 46%. Amplification were carried out under PCR conditions as a result of optimization, namely the results of PCR optimization were carried out for 30 cycles with the following thermal conditions. Denaturation phase at 94oC for 30 seconds, annealing at 52.0oC for 30 seconds, and extension at 72oC for 1 minute. Amplification results showed that of the 30 samples only 90% (27 samples) were detected to have the Mec-A gene, 10% (3 samples) were negative. Keywords: Mec-A; gene; Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Transmission of the disease via the cockroach vector as a disease transmitter, including those transported via transportation ships arriving from outside Indonesia and vice versa as well as between ports in Indonesia Cockroaches are allowed to transmit diseases, and the Port Health Office (KKP), which is the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) and head of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, is allowed to prevent and manage this. 112 of the 2,106 ships entering Yos Sudarso port in 2021 were still found to be carrying cockroaches, which can pose risk factors for the spread of illness, according to data collected by the Ambon KKP during surveillance of the ships landing there. This study, which was conducted in July and August 2022 on ships at Yos Sudarso Port, Ambon, was an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional study design approach to analyze ship sanitation parameters for the cockroaches’ presence. As many as 30 ships were used as samples. There was a correlation between ship sanitation and the number of cockroaches, according to a Chi-square test conducted at Yos Sudarso port in Ambon, which had a p value of 0.008, and the results found that the poor level of ship sanitation can lead to the presence of cockroaches. The existence of cockroaches on board can result in a risk of disease transmission, and control measures must be taken quickly. Keywords: ship sanitation; cockroach; port

Abstract

Papaya mountain (Carica pubescens) is one of the typical plants that grows in the Dieng Plateau. Seeds of mountain papaya (Carica pubescens) are a by-product of candied carica production which has not been widely used. All carica seeds obtained were cleaned of mucilage and then treated with drying temperatures of 30, 40, 50 and 60oC. The purpose of this study was to examine the secondary metabolite content of the ethanol extract of mountain papaya seeds with variations in drying temperature. The type of research used was experimental. Drying temperature was one of the factors that affect the quality of simplicia. The extraction method used maceration with 70% ethanol as a solvent. Maceration was carried out for 3 days followed by a phytochemical screening test. The results of the phytochemical test showed that the ethanol extract of papaya seeds at temperatures of 30, 40, 50 and 60oC contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and triterpenoids. Keywords : Carica pubescens; temperature variations; maceration

Abstract

Therapy for traumatic ulcers using steroid causes serious side effects. Red pomegranate (Punica granatum Linn) can be used as alternative therapy which contains bioactive elements to reduce the number of macrophages in traumatic ulcers. The aimed of this study was to determine the potential of red pomegranate extract to reduce the number of macrophages in the rat model of traumatic ulcers. The 24 model rats were experimented within 3 groups including 8 animals each group (negative control using CMC-Na placebo, positive control using triamcinolone acetonide 0.1%, and treatment group using red pomegranate extract gel). Each group was divided into two (4 animals with a 3-day test and 4 animals with a 5-day test). Thermal-induced trauma was given to the labial mucosa of rats and then observing the number of macrophages histologically with 400x microscope magnification. The mean macrophages counted on the 3-day-tested groups of red pomegranate extract gel therapy, triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% therapy, and CMC-Na placebo therapy were 9.1, 16.5, and 22.3. While on the 5-day-tested groups, the mean of macrophages counted were 27.2, 23.6, and 28.9. In conclusion, red pomegranate extract had a significant effect in decreasing the number of macrophages in the inflammatory reaction of traumatic ulcer. Keywords: red pomegranate; traumatic ulcer; macrophage; anti-inflammatory
