Abstract

Abstract - Indonesia is rich having so much diversity in traditional architecture. Not only art and culture, each region have it’s own unique architecture that can be seen in the traditional houses across Sabang to Merauke. In an era with a very rapid development, global influence can threaten Indonesia’s traditional architecture. Globalization tends to make people prefer architecture with the western style. Traditional architecture is very vulnerable to be influenced and modified to suit the new needs and demands. This can threaten the existence of Indonesia’s traditional architecture. It becomes very important to preserve traditional architecture so that its existence is not further eroded. The purpose of this study is to find out what local aspects and elements of the Sasak Tribe are adopted to the design of Novotel Lombok Resort and Villas. This research will use descriptive qualitative research methods, namely methods that use qualitative data and described descriptively. This method is used to analyze phenomena, problems or social conditions. The research process will use the theory of house architecture, form and culture from Amos Rapoport as the main reference, data obtained from survey results on the object of study, observations and interviews with related parties including building managers to complete the analysis. Findings This research is expected to be able to contribute academically and non-academically to society. Novotel Lombok Resort and Villas is designed based on the traditional architectural concept of the Sasak Tribe by applying architectural aspects and elements that can also be found in settlements and buildings of the Sasak Tribe. The adoption is dominant in the use of materials, construction and building technology used, especially in the upper or roof enclosure. It was also found that the adoption of other architectures, namely the architecture of the Musalaki House, Sumba Tribe, West Nusa Tenggara as an effort to introduce Indonesian architecture and culture more broadly. Some aspects and elements of traditional architecture in the resort area are not maintained and are damaged. In fact, due to the difficulty of maintenance, one of the roofs of the building replaced the materials and construction used in the renovations carried out in 2010. This can certainly be an example case study for the future. Keywords: Traditional Architecture, Sasak Tribe, Adoption, Novotel Lombok

Abstract

Abstract - The issue of limited urban land in Indonesia is increasing day by day, with the problem of high population growth and increasing housing needs, creating a lot of slum housing which does not pay attention to comfort and health. With this problem, the city also produces many smaller building widths and land compared to the previous one, especially in the city center and its surroundings. Nowadays buildings around urban areas in Jakarta are smaller but elongated on the sides , which uses a flat roof to add to the city view, with an elongated shape of the building that does not have openings on the right and left sides, this raises questions about the system and the building's performance on thermal comfort. This study uses a software simulation method, where the 3d model is made on Autodesk Revit, while the simulation is carried out to analyze the model thermal comfort and wind speed, using Autodesk CFD software. For the assessment of wind speed ,it is verified with the Lippsmeier 20017 standard and the thermal comfort standard through the Indonesian thermal comfort standard in (SNI) 03-6572-2001 and the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia NO. 1077/MENKES/PER/V/2011. The results of this study are an optimization model and a simulation of the application of effective shading and stack effects in buildings, especially in the main room in the long building, in this study the object used is 3500mm house by Ago Architects on Jl.Haji Nawi, South Jakarta. The optimization simulation of the facade components and the stack effect in the building was carried out 4 times with the parameters of the shading angle (A and B) and the height of the stack effect (A and B), followed by concluding that from the 4 simulations the greatest effect for achieving thermal comfort is optimization of the stack effect which can reduce the comfort temperature by 1.56°C. The conclusion in this study is that optimization of the Stack effect can make the thermal comfort of the building better. Abstract

Abstract - All owners always wanted their business to go well, including those near hospitals, which had so negative energy that people would feel uncomfortable to be around for long. On Jl. Rumah Sakit, Tasikmalaya city, West Java province, there was a restaurant - RM Ny. King, which was on the opposite side of Dr. Soekardjo Hospital, but managed to maintain its business since the 1970s. There was also a 24-hour fried food vendor nearby and Kedai Bakso Solo Mas Wiji with T-junction position - a negative position according to Feng Shui - but both had lasted for more than two decades. Busy activities only seemed to occur where the three premises were, while others were not going well and mostly happened to pharmacies, which should have been able to sell well. This research was conducted to find out why only some businesses on Jl. Rumah Sakit (from in front of Kedai Bakso Solo Mas Wiji to RM King) were going well, according to Feng Shui studies, a knowledge that studied energy related to buildings. This research used the qualitative descriptive approach and tested all buildings in Jl. Rumah Sakit. For analysis, basic theories of Feng Shui, Form Theory, Five Elements Theory, Four Celestial Animals Theory, and Water Theory were used. In addition, Market Area Location Theory was also used to see the tendency of people to shop in the premises. It was concluded that the segment between Kedai Bakso Solo Mas Wiji until RM Ny. King had the most buildings that follows the Feng Shui theories used in this research. That is the reason why activities were more concentrated in this segment rather than others in Jl. Rumah Sakit. Abstract

Abstract - As one of the main design elements in sacred spaces, natural and artificial light, plays an important role in responding to the issue of the reduced sacredness of the modern Catholic Church. Santo Matias Rasul Kosambi Church, Jakarta, is a modern Catholic Church designed using natural and artificial lighting techniques. This study aims to determine the effect of differences in natural and artificial lighting techniques during morning and evening worship on the user’s perception of sacredness in the worship room of the Church of Santo Matias Rasul Kosambi, Jakarta. The research was conducted using an qualitative approach (physical observation of the worship space, shape, zone and circulation, enclosing elements and space fillers) and quantitative data (dimensions and proportions of space) and photometric measurements of light (illumination level and luminance)). Aftab Alfa software was used to help display the contrast comparison of the overall church space. The questionnaire was conducted to take the user's perception of the appearance of the room in the morning and evening with natural and artificial lighting which was carried out in a virtual reality room display with 360⁰ photo visualization. The analysis was used to develop the role of lighting techniques used in church rooms in awakening the sacredness of space. Quantitative analysis was carried out by processing the perception data of the questionnaire results using the JMP Pro data processing software. The clarity of the symbolization and ornamentation in the altar area and the clarity of the flow of space in the morning worship has a better value than at night worship. However, night worship is still considered more sacred because of the size and monumental scale of space, clarity of the hierarchy of worship space, and emotion, the value at night worship is higher than during morning worship. The perception that most influences the assessment of the sacredness of the worship space is the size and monumental scale of the space, as well as indicators of the emotions felt in the space, especially positive emotions in the worship space. The clarity of the spatial hierarchy also influences the emotions of admiration, hope, joy, and peace. Abstract

Abstract - The comfort of a building is a supporting role for the user’s activities. Student activities at school, especially kindergarten students, have activities that tend to use more of a higher metabolism, so a comfortable space is an important aspect of user activity in a room for a learning environment. The object used as a study is KB-TK Pahoa Tangerang as a school where the building maximizes passive design to support teaching and learning activities. Thermal discomfort caused by high temperatures can be a distraction and have a negative impact on the teaching and learning process. This study aims to look at thermal comfort in kindergartens located in tropical environments and activities that use a lot of physical activity for learning at the kindergarten level. In this research an experimental method will be carried out using CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulations and including activities in kindergarten to address the problem of thermal comfort, especially for children aged 4-6 years. The analysis was carried out using the PMV (predicted mean vote) which in this process included activity variables, clothing, and building physical data to determine user satisfaction and classroom thermal comfort. Direct observation of the location of the study object was carried out to obtain existing data and literature studies for reference regarding thermal comfort and passive cooling strategies. The results obtained from this study indicate that the conditions of thermal comfort in the kindergarten from morning to noon, students using the classroom show slightly warm thermal sensation. Based on the results of the existing simulation, it is continued with efforts to optimize the design to achieve thermal comfort by optimizing it through modification of the classroom model using sun protection (shading) & ventilation. The optimization percentage reached the maximum value of PMV reduction by 12,68% in ventilation optimization, and 6,55% in shading optimization. Abstract

Abstract - City in the context of architecture is defined as a physical-spatial entity, a manifestation of human and its interaction with geographical and historiographic context, resulting in unique characters of every context. Townscape aesthetics is subjective remembering the diverse in sense of position, sequence of view, and observer’s psycho-cultural aspects. Nusantara architecture aesthetics could be defined visually through Wastu and Citra. This study aims to identify the anatomical elements of townscape that provide an aesthetic indication of visual and locality image from street perspective. Descriptive method with a qualitative approach is used by describing factual conditions from virtual observations of Legian Coastal Area and compare them with theories from urban aesthetics literature. The related data is then analyzed using a semantic assessment method. The result shows permanent building, natural vegetation, and road holds a significant impact on the harmony value of visual image. Monument, heritage building, patterns, and human activity found indicates locality value. Further, there is a relevant connection between level of locality and visual harmony, mainly due to local architecture is generally based on philosophy of harmonious balance and is expressed in visual order. This research is useful as the foundation for similar research and as a basis for further city developments. Keywords: townscape aesthetic, locality historiographic, visual image, Legian

Abstract

Abstract - Aceh played an important role in the introduction of Islam in Indonesia. Aceh's geographical location on the coast made it one of the cities where traders from all over the world met. Therefore, there are many relationships between Aceh and the cultures that enter Aceh. In addition, Aceh is one of the regions in Indonesia that holds strong Islamic law in social life. Religious buildings, especially mosques in Aceh, are important because they are not only a place of worship but also a place for learning and religious tourism. Ancient mosques in Aceh were found to have similarities with ancient mosques in the Java Coast with the discovery of a sketch of the Baiturrahman Mosque before it was burned. From these discoveries, the research raised the question 'How are the similarities and differences in the architecture of old mosques in Aceh and Coastal Java in terms of Figure, Tectonics, and Ornamentation?' and 'What are the factors that influence the similarities and differences?'. The purpose of this study is to find out the similarities and differences between ancient mosques in Aceh and coastal Java in terms of figure, tectonics, and ornamentation. In addition, to find out the factors that influence the similarities and differences. The study uses a qualitative method where the materials obtained from the field of research are in the form of words and datas that produce descriptive analysis in the form of written and verbal words. As for the studied objects, they are categorized into two categories, namely the jami mosque and the big mosque. Jami mosque consists of Tuha Ulee Kareng Mosque, Tuha Lamura Mosque, Tgk Fakinah Mosque, and Beuracan Mosque. Meanwhile, the big mosque consists of the Indrapuri Mosque. Throughout this research, it was found that the figures of Aceh and Java Coastal Mosques have similarities, while in tectonical aspect there are similarities in the use of the saka guru structural system. Besides similarities, there are differences in tectonical aspects in which the Aceh Mosque is still seen using column binding beams that are visible above the floor while the Java Coastal Mosque does not use them. For ornamentation, the similarities between the Aceh Mosque and Java Coastal Mosque are dominated while the striking difference is the use of memala at the top of the roof whereas the Aceh Mosque does not use memala while the mosque in Java Coastal uses it. In addition, there is an interesting ornamentation in the form of banana heart ornamentation which is found similar to the completion of the ceiling in India (Mughal Era) and similarities with ornaments in the Sunan Gunung Jati Tomb Complex. It was caused by several factors, namely political factors, locality factors, and external factors. Keywords: forms, tectonics, ornamentation, Aceh
