Abstract

This study focus on the concept of material world according to Muhammad Iqbal, which can strengther the faith of Allah.This research was conducted by studying literature through interpretation method and logical thinking.The result of the research shows that the material world is not a final and static product. The material world is the reality in the progressive movement which is always flowing and changing. It is an action, a flowing from chaos to cosmos, a life and consciousness as an impact of evolution process, which is unlimited. In this perspective, the material world factually is a self, like the self of man.

Abstract

The scientific truth can be identified on the Kuhn's normal science as a period of scientific progress, and on the Popper's verisimilitude (the truthlikeness). The Kuhn's thought is a phenomenological hermeneutics due to his understanding of the scientific truth according to the phenomenon of scientific progress, and otherwise, the Popper's is an ontological hermeneutics which acknowledges the absolute truth beyond the scientific explanation. The essential similarity of Kuhn and Popper's hermeneutics is justifying the scientific truth as a relative ideal one (never be the absolute one), and the fundamental difference of both of them caused by Kuhn's hermeneutics based on a descriptive approach and Popper's by the normative one. The Kuhn and Popper's hermeneutics can be contributed to be a philosophical foundation of science, namely: the scientific investigation area (ontological foundation), the dialectic of scientific progress (epistemological foundation), and toward the absolute-transcendental truth (axiological foundation). The hermeneutics can also be contributed to reintegrate science and philosophy, as a correlation and interconnection entity of empirical and metaphysical dimension, and can spontaneously be an understanding frame of the demarcation of science (a system of empirical knowledge) and philosophy (a system of metaphysical one). The hermeneutics can be contributed to implement the integration of Natural Sciences and Humanities (and Social Sciences) in Indonesia, as an IPTEK development strategy which is relevant to the ethical values of the Pancasila's.

Abstract

Menjelang dibentuknya Kabinet Pembangunan VI yang lalu ada muncul tuntutan agar kebudayaan ditangani secara serius dengan cara membentuk kementerian baru. Tuntutan tersebut beralasan bahwa kebudayaan adalah bidang garapan yang tidak enteng, dengan pengaruhnya yang begitu besar bagi kehidupan manusia sehingga akan terlalu remeh jika penangannya 'dititipkan'.

Abstract

Every Maduranese has relation as core structure in itself with the characteristics of relation meaning being different from the other ones and among other thing actualized in its folks. The objectives of research are firstly, to formulate relation meaning in Madura folks of ontological transcendental structure; secondly, to formulate essence of relation in Madura folks of ontological transcendental norm; thirdly, to formulate relevance meaning of relation in Madura folks as main principle to develop Madura identity. This research was a library research with the Anton Bakker’s ontology as the formal object and Madura folks as the material object, that is to say, carok (homicide), rokat tase’ (fishermen ceremonials), and samman (Islamic recitals). This research came to conclude that relation of Madura folks in ontological transcendental structure signifies based socio-culture. Madura folks centered upon unanimity rule of social life, that is, relationship with each other, nature, and God. Unanimity rule aspect is presented and made one of balancing Madura folks. The relation is the starting and end points of reality in Madura folks, which harmony and disharmony are served as ontological transcendental norm. Relevance of relation in Madura folks as main principle to develop Madura identity constitutes standpoint in internalization and crystallization of Madura identity. The relation as starting point means that the result of development and perpetuation of Madura identity is proceed from relation meaning as main principle. The relation as end point means that development, elaboration, and perpetuation of Madura identity are returned to relation meaning as main principle.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe Mao Zedong's thoughts on especially his concept of cultural revolution. This study describes the cultural revolution which understanding as a societal strategy of change which being put foward by Mao according to Marx's concept of historical step toward communist society.Marx's and Lenin's concepts influence Mao's thoughts and policies during his power. As Lenin did to Marx, Mao took only the core of their thoughts and then modify its content to suit China's objective conditions. Mao's concept of cultural revolution is a long, thorough and continuous process that begins from one event leads to another.

Abstract

AbstractEast Sumba people have strong kinship and marital system.All of the living aspect of the East Sumba people managed by their kabihu. The various rights and duties will be emerge in the kabihu, include of this point is the custom duties related to the marriage process. Marriage in the East Sumba people have great symbol, not only for having a child but also to keep save uma marapu. The kinship of East Sumba people is patriarchy and the marriage system is always exogamy. It is taboo for marriage in one kabihu. Related to the kinship system in East Sumba, when a woman get married with a man from a different kabihu and her husband finishes his duties (belis), the woman will join her husband kabihu. Then, there is no kinship relation again between her and her old kabihu.Consequently, almost of the yera (wife’s family) make belis isimpossible to pay. From material aspect, belis process will give an advantage for the woman’s family but for the couple it will restraint their freedom. There is no private sphere for them because all of their marriage process will be judged and done by their family and kabihu.Keywords: East Sumba, marriage, uma marapu, kabihu, belis, yera,private sphere.
