Abstract

Early detection of mental health problems among adolescents remains limited. This cross-sectional study aimed to analyze the mental health profiles of school-age adolescents and to compare mean rank scores for emotional, behavioral, hyperactivity, peer, and prosocial aspects by education level. The research was conducted from August to October 2024; subject were 397 adolescents aged 11–17 years from 12 secondary schools in four districts in Jayapura City. The results shows that only 51.1% of adolescents fell into the normal category for emotional problems. Significant differences were found in behavioral problems (p = 0.000) and prosocial behavior (p = 0.000) between junior high and high school students, whereas no significant differences were observed in emotional problems (p = 0.099), hyperactivity (p = 0.216), or peer problems (p = 0.511). These results highlight that behavioral and prosocial issues differ by education level, while emotional, hyperactivity, and peer issues do not. The study underscores the importance of early detection and targeted interventions to address behavioral and prosocial challenges among adolescents.

Abstract

Hemophilia is one of the highest contributors to catastrophic costs in the National Health Insurance (NHI) program. This study aims to estimate the Cost of Illness (COI) of NHI participants with hemophilia from a payer and partial productivity loss perspective, using secondary data from BPJS Kesehatan to examine direct medical costs from the perspective of a third-party payer, and average hourly wages by province in Indonesia to assess patient productivity loss. The research method is a cross-sectional study using a quantitative design. The findings indicate that the average COI per participant was IDR 728,832,232. After applying sampling weights to estimate the national population, the total COI for hemophilia during 2022–2023 was IDR 3.02 trillion, with 99% attributable to direct medical costs. These findings indicate that although hemophilia affects a relatively small number of participants, it imposes a substantial financial burden on the NHI system. Significant differences in COI medians were observed across age, gender, length of stay, special drug usage, membership segmentation, ward class, hospital region, hospital type, treatment type, and severity. Hemophilia, as a high-cost, low-frequency condition, requires careful management to avoid further strain on NHI funding.

Abstract

Scabies remains a significant public health problem in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools, where overcrowding and inadequate sanitation facilitate transmission. This systematic literature review aimed to synthesize evidence on personal and environmental risk factors associated with scabies in these settings. The review question was developed using the PIOT model. A systematic search was conducted through Publish or Perish across Scopus, Crossref, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar on April 21, 2025, applying Boolean operators and limiting results to English and Indonesian case-control studies with full-text availability. Study selection followed PRISMA procedures, yielding 11 eligible studies from 1,500 identified records. Screening, selection, and data extraction were performed manually by two independent reviewers. Risk of bias was assessed using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS), and certainty of evidence was evaluated with the GRADE approach. Consistent determinants identified included personal hygiene, knowledge, environmental sanitation, crowding, attitudes, socioeconomic status, waste management, and age. NOS scores ranged from 6–8, indicating generally good quality, while GRADE showed mostly moderate certainty, downgraded primarily due to imprecision. Scabies risk is strongly shaped by hygiene behaviors and environmental conditions, highlighting the need for comprehensive prevention strategies.

Abstract

Indonesia is currently facing a triple burden of disease, prompting the introduction of the Healthy Living Community Movement (GERMAS) as a national strategy to reduce non-communicable disease (NCD) risk factors through promotive and preventive actions. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Regent Regulation No. 87 of 2021 concerning the organization of GERMAS in Bandung Regency. This study employed a qualitative descriptive design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, document analysis, and focus group discussions. Informants, including government officials, health workers, and community representatives, were selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using the Van Meter and Van Horn policy implementation framework. The findings indicate that the implementation of the policy remains suboptimal due to limited resources, weak inter-organizational coordination, and low community participation in routine health check-ups. To improve the effectiveness of GERMAS, local governments must prioritize strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration, allocating dedicated resources for health infrastructure, and enhancing targeted community awareness campaigns.
