Jurnal Dinamika Vokasional Teknik Mesin (JDVTM) is published by the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Yogyakarta. The journal is published twice a year in April and October. Each publication contains articles comprising high quality theoretical and empirical original research papers, review papers, and literature reviews. The scope of study of this journal includes mechanical engineering education, technology and vocational education, learning and curriculum development, learning method development, and learning media. All of the fields study, particularly in mechanical engineering vocational and education. The articles submitted should be attended to the particular topics above.

Abstract

This study aimed to quantitatively describe the variables of certification's impact, teachers' workability, work motivation, work commitment, and teacher performance on Vocational High School (SMK) teachers after the teacher certification program is implemented. This study uses quantitative methods to obtain measurable data that is descriptive, comparative and associative and to answer the problem formulation and research questions. The descriptive analysis of a portion of the research data resulted in research findings which show: (1) The impact of SMK teachers certification, workability which were developed from the pride, professionalism, and welfare aspects; obtain information that 34% are categorized as very good, 58% are in good category, 6% are in moderate category and 2% are in poor category, (2) workability which were developed from the aspects of pedagogical competence, professionalism, personality and social, obtain information that 32% are categorized as very good, 60% are good, 6% are moderate and 2% are in poor category, (3) teachers' work motivation which were indicated from the aspects of needs of achievement, existence and power, affiliation, self-actualization and independence, and growth expectations, obtained information that 24% are categorized as very good, 60% are in good category, and 16% are in moderate category, (4) work commitment of teachers which were developed from the aspects of affective commitment, continuity and normative, obtained findings that 26% are in very good category, 64% are good, and 10% are in moderate category, (5) the performance of SMK teachers which were developed from the aspects of fulfillment of the main duties, implementation of duties other than the main duties, and professional development, obtained information that 20% are categorized as very good, 64% are in good category, and 16% are in moderate category. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan secara kuantitatif variabel dampak sertifikasi, kemampuan kerja guru, motivasi kerja guru, komitmen kerja guru, dan kinerja guru SMK setelah mengikuti program sertifikasi guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif untuk memperoleh data terukur yang bersifat deskriptif, komparatif dan asosiatif. Hasil analisis secara deskriptif sebagian data hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Dampak sertifikasi guru SMK yang dikembangkan dari aspek kebanggaan, keprofesionalan dan kesejahteraan diperoleh informasi sebesar 34% termasuk kategori amat baik, 58% termasuk kategori baik, (2) kemampuan kerja guru yang dikembangkan dari aspek kompetensi pedagogis, professional, kepribadian dan sosial diperoleh informasi sebesar 32% termasuk kategori amat baik, 60% kategori baik, (3) motivasi kerja guru yang diindikasikan dari aspek kebutuhan berprestasi, eksistensi dan berkuasa, berafiliasi, aktualisasi dan kemandirian, dan harapan pertumbuhan diperoleh informasi sebesar 24% termasuk kategori amat baik, 60% termasuk kategori baik, (4) komitmen kerja guru yang dikembangkan dari aspek komitmen afektif, kontinuitas dan normatif diperoleh temuan sebesar 26% termasuk aktegori amat baik, 64% termasuk kategori baik, (5) kinerja guru SMK yang dikembangkan dari aspek pelaksanaan tugas pokok, pelaksanaan tugas di luar tugas pokok dan pengembangan keprofesionalan diperoleh informasi sebesar 20% termasuk kategori amat baik, 64% termasuk kategori baik.

Abstract

This study compared the effectiveness of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model and conventional learning on learning outcomes of basic automotive work. This research is a quasi-experiment type. The research population is 10th-grade students of TKR SMK Muhammadiyah I Sleman in the academic year of 2018/2019. A random cluster sampling technique was employed. It was determined that class A (25 students) was for the experimental class and class B (26 students) was for the control class. Multiple-choice tests were used as data collection instruments. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique. The prerequisite analysis tests were normality and homogeneity tests, whereas the hypothesis test was the t-test. The results concluded that the use of CTL model is more effective than conventional learning when it comes to learning outcomes, indicated by a value of tcount (3.615) which was larger than ttable (1.676) with P value of 0.0007 ( less than 0.05).Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas hasil belajar pekerjaan dasar otomotif antara siswa yang menggunakan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dengan siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Jenis penelitian merupakan Eksperimen Semu. Populasi penelitian yaitu siswa kelas X TKR SMK Muhammadiyah I Sleman tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik random cluster sampling, ditetapkan kelas X TKR A adalah kelas eksperimen dengan jumlah 25 siswa dan kelas kontrol adalah X TKR B yang dengan jumlah 26 siswa. Instrumen pengambilan data menggunakan tes pilihan ganda. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis diskriptif, uji prasyarat analisis yaitu uji normalitas dan uji homogenitas, sedangkan uji hipotesis yaitu uji-t. Hasil uji hipotesis menyimpulkan bahwa menggunakan dengan menggunakan model CTL hasil belajar siswa lebih efektif dari pada menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai thitung (3,615) > ttabel (1,676) dengan nilai signifikasinya (P=0,0007 < 0,05).

Abstract

This research aimed to study the acceptance level and visual test of weldments in a pressure vessel in the national skills competition of vocational students in 2019. The approach of this research is quantitative-descriptive. Data were collected using checklists of quality assessment of the weld results. The tests for quality were pressure test and visual test. This research was conducted at the national skill competition in 2019 at Jogja Expo Center. The sample of this study was 32 welders. The results revealed that the acceptance level was considerably low, in which only 1 out of 32 participants passed the pressure test. Results from the visual quality were also low due to lack of understanding and knowledge in determining the requirements of pressure vessel welding, especially for the welding code and assembly drawing symbols. Participants were also unable to choose the right welding current, lacks theoretical knowledge of metals characteristics and welding processes types, and low awareness of OSH equipment.  Most participants were also lacking in practical knowledge on how to avoid welding defects in the pressure vessel weldments.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tingkat kelolosan hasil pengelasan pressure vessel  pada lomba kompetensi siswa SMK tingkat nasional tahun 2019. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan check list penilaian kualitas hasil pengelasan siswa dengan uji tingkat kelolosan kebocoran dan uji visual. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Jogja expo center (JEC) sebagai tempat LKSN. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa, analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: tingkat kelolosan uji pressure vessel masih sangat rendah dimana dari 32 peserta yang lolos uji pressure hanya 1 orang, kualitas hasil visual pengelasan pressure vessel masih rendah hal tersebut disebabkan kurangnya pemahaman dan pengetahuan tentang menentukan persyaratan pengelasan pressure vessel khususnya dalam mengetahui kode pengelasan dan simbol gambar kerja asembly, mengetahui jenis bahan logam, mengetahui jenis proses pengelasan SMAW, GMAW, GTAW dan FCAW serta mengetahui fungsi alat keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja, serta pemahaman terhadap cara untuk menghindari cacat-cacat las pada hasil pengelasan pressure vessel.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of three different coolant delivery methods, namely dry machining, Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL), and wet machining. This is quantitative research with the use of experimental methods. Data were collected through observation. Data analysis techniques being used was descriptive statistics. In MQL methods, the use of coolant is minimized by mixing it with high-pressurized air. It is shown from the obtained data that the use of MQL methods is not as good as the wet machining. The hardness distribution of wet machining method is lower than the MQL. This was observed from the machining chips of the two methods. The chips from the MQL method were darker than the wet machining method. This finding showed that the heat generated from the MQL was higher than that of wet machining. The Al and Zn bonds in the MQL method is considered to be denser.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh penggunaan metode pemberian coolant yang berbeda, 3 metode yang digunakan adalah metode dry machining, Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL), dan wet machining.  Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian kuantitatif dan menggunakan metode eksperimen. Untuk teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode observasi dan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif. Metode MQL merupakan metode yang digunakan untuk meminimalisir penggunaan coolant dengan mencampurkannya dengan udara bertekanan tinggi. Data yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode MQL belum sebaik penggunaan metode wet machining. Distribusi kekerasan metode wet machining lebih rendah daripada MQL. Hal tersebut dapat terlihat dari geram yang dihasilkan oleh kedua penggunaan metode tersebut, geram yang dihasilkan dari metode MQL lebih gelap daripada metode wet machining. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa, panas yang dihasilkan dari metode MQL lebih tinggi daripada panas yang dihasilkan dari metode wet machining panas tersebut mempengaruhi ikatan Al dan Zn pada metode MQL menjadi lebih rapat.

Abstract

This study aimed at implementing Casting Laboratory model to build competence of teacher candidate of Vocational High School of Mechanical Engineering Study Program. The study is conducted by try out application approach. The procedure comprised of equipment preparation, layout arrangement, practice and evaluation. Data were collected by observation. The research subject was two classes of third semester bachelor students of MEED YSU who enrolled in Advanced Engineering Materials practical course. The two classes consist of 4 teams and within each team there were 4 groups. The practical work was carried out 2 times. The results show that the Casting Laboratory model has met all of the qualification of a learning facility to build student competence in unpressurized casting process. Among these competencies are ability in pattern making, sand preparation, sand-mold making, planning raw materials and smelting process, handling and pouring of molten metal, disassembling and cleaning, and evaluating the cast. The Casting Laboratory layout has qualified as work area for casting practice. The layout makes supervision and movement of workers and materials easy. Tools and equipment are fitting and adequate. The Laboratory model for aluminum casting is effective and efficient to develop competence in casting.Penelitian ini bertujuan menerapkan model Laboratorium Pengecoran untuk membentuk kompetensi calon guru Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Program Studi Teknik Mesin. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan uji aplikasi. Prosedur terdiri dari persiapan peralatan, pengaturan tata letak, praktik dan evaluasi. Data dikumpulkan dengan observasi. Subjek penelitian adalah adalah 2 kelas mahasiswa semester tiga program S1 teknik mesin MEED YSU yang mengikuti praktik bahan teknik lanjut, terdiri dari 4 tim dan masing-masing tim dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok. Praktikum dilaksanakan dua kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Laboratorium Pengecoran telah memenuhi syarat sebagai fasilitas pembelajaran untuk membentuk kompetensi siswa dalam proses pengecoran tanpa tekanan. Kompetensi yang dibentuk adalah kemampuan dalam membuat pola, menyiapkan pasir, membuat cetakan pasir, merencanakan bahan baku dan proses melebur, menanganani dan menuangkan logam cair, membongkar dan membersihkan, serta mengevaluasi produk pengecoran. Tata letak Laboratorium Pengecoran telah memenuhi syarat sebagai area kerja untuk praktik pengecoran. Ini memberi kemudahan dalam pengawasan dan pergerakan orang dan barang. Alat dan peralatan sudah sesuai dan memadai. Model laboratorium untuk pengecoran aluminium efektif dan efisien untuk mengembangkan kompetensi pengecoran.

Abstract

This research aims to determinate the relevance of CAD curriculum in machining expertise of Vocational High School (SMK) to the work world and industry needs in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and quantify the level of relevance. This research also aims to study the competencies required in the industry which are not accommodated in The SMK 2013 Ccurriculum for machining expertise. The methods for this research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The results showed that CAD competencies in the 2013 SMK Curriculum are relevant to the competencies needed by the industry. The level of relevance of the curriculum to the industry needs is 81.67%, or categorized as relevant. The CAD competencies in the 2013 Curriculum are all relevant and needed for the industry, but there are some competencies that have not been accommodated, namely 3D sheet metal modelling, 3D patterns, 2D sheet metal drawings, CAD drawing for CNC machining, Post processing into CAD/CAM software, plate thickness selection, and the use of bending and roll features.Tujuan penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui relevansi kurikulum CAD SMK bidang keahlian teknik pemesinan dengan kompetensi yang dibutuhkan oleh Dunia Usaha dan Industri (DUDI) di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, mengetahui seberapa besar tingkat relevansi antara kurikulum CAD SMK dengan kebutuhan DUDI dan mengetahui kompetensi yang dibutuhkan di industri namun belum terdapat dalam kurikulum 2013 teknik pemesinan SMK. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kompetensi CAD dalam  Kurikulum 2013 SMK relevan dengan kompetensi yang dibutuhkan oleh industri. Besar tingkat relevansi kurikulum CAD SMK dengan kebutuhan industri sebesar 81,67% atau termasuk dalam kategori relevan. Seluruh kompetensi CAD dalam Kurikulum 2013 SMK dibutuhkan oleh industri, namun terdapat beberapa kompetensi yang perlu ditambahkan yaitu Membuat gambar 3D sheet metal, membuat pattern 3D, Membuat gambar 2D sheet metal, memahami proses gambar untuk CNC, dapat mengimport file ke dalam program MasterCAM, Menetapkan ketebalan plat, dan Penggunaan fungsi bending dan roll.

Abstract

Surian Subdistrict, especially in Mekarsari village, has the largest potential of pepper production in Sumedang Regency. The full potential has not been achieved due to lack of mechanization in the pepper production. Currently, the peeling process of peppercorns uses manual hand rubbing, which is inefficient and causing tiredness and skin irritation. The purpose of this research is to design and build a peppercorn peeling machine to increase productivity. The design process used Autodesk Inventor 2015 CAD software. The machine-building process comprised of design actualization, Work Preparation planning, tools and materials preparation, machining and fabrication process and test run. The result of the design is a peeling machine having dimensions (l x w x h) of 993 x 590 x 670 mm. The machine is equipped with a 5.5 HP and 3600 rpm motor drive which yields in 28 kg/hour pepper production capacity. The working principle of this machine is to grind the peppercorns in the filter and then the cutter cuts and separates the pepper seeds from its shell.Kecamatan Surian memiliki potensi penghasil lada terbesar di Kabupaten Sumedang, khususnya di Desa Mekarsari (Yosini, 2018: 105-115). Permasalahan petani lada adalah masih secara manual dalam pengupasan kulit lada. Proses yang dilakukan hanya menggunakan kedua telapak tangan dalam menggosok buah lada sehingga memerlukan waktu yang lama dan menyebabkan kelelahan dan iritasi pada kulit telapak tangan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang dan membuat mesin pengupas kulit lada agar dapat membantu petani lada dalam meningkatkan produktivitasnya. Teknik perancangan menggunakan software Autodesk Inventor 2015. Proses manufaktur dilakukan melalui tahapan pembacaan desain, pembuatan work preparation, persiapan alat dan bahan, proses manufaktur hingga uji kinerja. Hasil penelitian yaitu dihasilkan mesin pengupas kulit lada dengan dimensi panjang 993 mm, lebar 590 mm dan tinggi 670 mm dengan motor 5,5 HP dan putaran 3.600 rpm dan kapasitas 28 kg/jam. Prinsip kerja mesin ini yaitu menggiling lada yang terdapat pada filter kemudian cutter bertabrakan dengan lada sampai terpisah dengan kulitnya.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the implementation of character-based project-work learning model in practical subjects to student attitudes and learning achievement. This research was conducted using the Research and Development approach with a quasi-experiments design. The population of this research is 33 students of Complex Machining Process course in Mechanical Engineering Diploma Study Program of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Research data were collected using observation sheets, documentation, evaluation of learning outcomes and interviews. To determine the effect of the model, t-test analysis techniques were employed. Results of the research are: 1) there are attitude or behaviour differences of the students between the character-based project-work learning model class and the regular class (t = 7.31; p = 0,000); and 2) there are achievement differences of the students between the model classes and the regular class (t = 9.47; p = 0,000).Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penerapan model pembelajaran project-work berbasis karakter pada mata kuliah praktik terhadap sikap dan prestasi belajar mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan Research and Development. Desain eksperimen menggunakan quasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa mata kuliah proses pemesinan kompleks pada Diploma III Program Studi Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta yang berjumlah 33 mahasiswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan lembar observasi, dokumentasi, evaluasi hasil belajar dan wawancara. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan model pembelajaran project-work berbasis karakter digunakan teknik analisis uji-t. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan adalah: 1) ada perbedaan sikap atau perilaku mahasiswa antara kelas yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran project-work berbasis karakter dibandingkan dengan kelas biasa (t= 7,31; p = 0,000); dan 2) ada perbedaan prestasi belajar mahasiswa antara kelas yang diajar dengan  model pembelajaran project-work berbasis karakter dibandingkan dengan kelas biasa (t=9,47; p= 0,000).

Abstract

E-module has become a form of learning media that displays online reference, which is considered as more attractive and interactive compared to printed books and modules. The development of e-module actualizes the use of technology to facilitate access to science literacy that is inline to the industrial revolution 4.0. This study aims to develop an e-module of brake system for class XI vocational high school students. The research method used is Research and Development. The stages of e-module development are: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The instruments for data collection are questionnaires with quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The feasibility test of the brake system e-module shows that the results of the evaluation of media experts obtained a percentage of 82%, assessment of material experts by 85%, and field test results by 85%. It can be concluded that the e-module developed is suitable to be used to facilitate the learning process of the brake system in vocational high school.E-modul menjadi salah satu media pembelajaran yang menyajikan bahan referensi online secara menarik dan interaktif dibandingkan dengan media cetak seperti buku atau modul. Pengembangan e-modul merupakan aktualisasi dari pemanfaatan teknologi untuk memudahkan akses literasi bidang ilmu pengetahuan yang selaras dengan revolusi industri 4.0. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan e-modul sistem rem untuk siswa SMK kelas XI. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development. Tahapan pengembangan e-modul meliputi: define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dengan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Uji kelayakan e-modul sistem rem ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil penilaian ahli media diperoleh persentase 82%, penilian ahli materi sebesar 85%, dan hasil uji lapangan sebesar 85%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-modul yang dikembangkan layak digunakan untuk mendukung pembelajaran sistem rem siswa SMK.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of social media-integrated microteaching, viewing it from the effectiveness, efficiency and practicality aspects. This research is a quantitative descriptive study. The data collection methods used are using instruments that were distributed to students undertaking the social media-integrated microteaching course. The population in this study were 15 students as respondents. The evaluation results showed an effectiveness level of 91.15, the efficiency of 91.43, and practicality of 94.44.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui evaluasi pelaksanaan microteaching yang diintegrasikan dengan media sosial yang dilihat dari efektifitas, efisiensi dan kepraktisan microteaching yang diintegrasikan dengan media sosial. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kuantitatif. Metode yang digunakan dengan menggunakan instrument yang dibagikan kepada mahasiswa yang mengambil matakuliah microteaching yang diintegrasikan dengan media sosial. Responden ada sebanyak 15 mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat efektivitas sebesar 91,15 , efisiensi sebesar 91,43 dan kepraktisan sebesar 94,44.
