Abstract

The competency standards of class XI graduates in physics learning are deemed inadequate. One element contributing to this is the lack of physics modules based on learning methodologies to guide students' active learning. The goal of this research is to create a STEM-based module on Wave material that is practicable in class XI SMA. Research and development (R&D) utilizing the 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate) is employed. Validation sheets and limited trial sheets for students using a four-Likert scale were supplied to experts, teachers, and 30 students from SMA N 8 Mandau. The initial analysis of this research was carried out to determine the student's condition, and documentation was employed as evidence. The data were quantitatively assessed based on the outcomes of expert validation, teachers, and limited student trials. The validation using the average value performed by three expert validators or experts yielded a validation value of 0.81, while the score acquired from three user or teacher validators was 0.93, and the results of the limited trial of students yielded a validation value of 0.80. The results in the form of STEM-based modules on wave material in class XI SMA that match the criteria are high. Based on the results, the STEM-based curriculum is appropriate for use in class XI SMA.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest oil producing countries in the world. Indonesia is recorded to have produced 279.07 million barrels of oil in 2021. Indonesia's geographical location is in a strategic area which is located between the Middle East countries as oil producers and developed countries that consume oil. The Malacca Strait, which is adjacent to the Riau Islands Province as a ship transportation area, even 27% of oil spread throughout the world passes through it. In addition to economic benefits, this sea area is also at risk of oil spills which result in pollution of sea waters. The research method used in this research is literature review. The research focuses on the interior of the coast and small islands in the Riau Archipelago. The research aims to provide a collaborative strategy through sustainable oil spill management policies on coasts and small islands in the Riau Archipelago Province. The results of the research show that strategies that can be applied are socialization regarding the importance of protecting marine waters from pollution and patrolling areas that are prone to being dumps of oil. The vastness of the waters in the Riau Islands requires patrols to coordinate with BAKAMLA, Navy, Aired Police, Customs and Excise and the community. The team for handling oil in the sea of Riau Islands Province that has been formed needs to increase environmental knowledge and deepen understanding related to technology through continuous training. Operational techniques for handling oil spills must be made regular so that it is easier to concentrate and coordinate the handling of oil spills.

Abstract

Understanding the concept and attitude of environmental care attitudes is necessary for preserving local excellence. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing local excellence-based comic media on the conceptual understanding and environmental care attitude of Islamic boarding school students of a different gender. This research is quasi-experimental, using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research was conducted in three Islamic boarding schools, i.e. MTS MT Mamben, SMP IT Putra Ar-Risalah Paok Lombok, and SMP IT Putri Ar-Risalah Paok Lombok, involving 38 female and 30 male students. The research instrument used a test to determine students' conceptual understanding of local excellence and a questionnaire to assess students' environmental care attitudes. Data were analyzed using N-gain, one-way ANOVA, and continued with post hoc tests to determine the effect of implementing comic media in each experimental group. A DIF analysis was carried out on questionnaire items using RASCH to determine students' environmental care attitudes of different genders. The results showed that (a) the implementation of comic media based on local excellence at Islamic boarding schools could increase students' understanding of local excellence (N-gain = 0.44 to 0.60) and increase students' environmental care attitude (N-gain = 0.33 to 0.58), (b) there are differences in concept understanding and environmental care attitude in the experimental group (Sig <.05). These results indicate that there is a relationship between conceptual understanding and students' environmental care attitudes. The higher the conceptual understanding, the higher the students' environmental care attitude, and vice versa, and (c) female students tend to have a better environmental care attitude than male students. However, on the other hand, male students can think logically and rationally, so they tend to care about the causes of damage to local excellence, especially coral reef ecosystems
