Abstract

Hartree Fock (HF) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) have been commonly used to model chemical problems. This study uses the Molecular Orbital Theory (MOT) to evaluate the electronic structure of five diatomic molecules generated by HF and DFT calculations. The evaluation provides an explanation of how the orbitals of a molecule come to be and how this affects the calculation of the physical quantities of the molecule. The evaluation is obtained after comparing the orbital wave functions calculated by MOT, HF, and DFT. This study found that the nature of the Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital (HOMO) of a molecule is determined by the valence orbital properties of the constituent atoms. This HOMO property greatly influences the precision of calculating the molecular electric dipole moment. This shows the importance of understanding the orbital properties of a molecule formed from the HF and DFT calculations

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to produce a product in the form of science teaching materials that can improve the scientific literacy of students. This research is included in research and development of education which is a method for producing certain products and testing the effectiveness of these products. The product developed was validated by experts consisting of 3 people. Learning tools that are validated are syllabus, lesson plans, and scientific literacy instruments. The results of the study show that the learning device in the form of syllabus shows an average of 3.9 (78%) in the appropriate category, the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) shows an average of 3.9 (78%) in the feasible category, and the items show the average value is 4.1 (82%) in the feasible category. Thus, inquiry-based science teaching materials developed in appropriate categories can be applied in learning. The results of the questionnaire response analysis of students showed that students' responses were very good for teaching materials because 77.8% of students were fluent that guided inquiry-based teaching material was interesting. In a large-scale trial, the N-gain value obtained in the experimental class was 70.74 with high criteria. Keywords: Science Teaching Materials; Guided Inquiry; Science Literacy

Abstract

In this study has been developed a teaching aid of dynamic electricity(APLD) inquiry based to support dynamic electricity of learning. This study included research development. The purpose of this study was to develop and test the effectiveness of the teaching aid to increase mastery of concepts of students. The study involved IX grade of junior students who were following the dynamic electricity of learning were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The instrument used was the dynamic electric concept mastery test. Analysis of data using different test and the average normalized gain scores . This study showed an increase in mastery of concepts in both groups. The Increase concepts mastery of students using APLDinquiry-based was higher than students who studied the electrical KIT with verification based-guide. The increase was highest in the mastery of concept Ohm's Law (69.3 %) and the lowest was in the electric power concept (10.8 %) Keyword: Teaching aid of dynamic electricity (APLD) inquiry based, mastery of concepts dynamic electricity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the concentration of growth regulators BAP and   2,4-D which have the highest effect in stimulating the formation of callus melon plants (Cucumis melo) Mai 119 variety. Completely randomized design (CRD) was used in this research. Media used on callus induction was MS medium with addition of several concentration of BAP  (0 mg/L, 1 mg/L, 2 mg/L, 3 mg/L) and 2,4-D (0 mg/L, 1 mg/L, 2 mg/L, 3 mg/L) either alone or in a combination of both. Parameters measured were the time appearing of callus, callus diameter, callus texture, and callus color. Anova followed by Tukey's test was used to the analyse of time appearing of callus. Data of callus diameter was analyzed using Kruskal Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney test. In the analysis of parameter related to the callus texture and callus color, descriptive test were used. The results showed that there were differences in the effect of growth regulators on the callus formation. The fastest callus induction and the largest diameter of callus were obtained on media with concentration of 2 mg/L BAP and 3 mg/L BAP.Keywords: BAP (benzyl amino purine), 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid), callus induction, melon (Cucumis melo) varieties Mai 119

Abstract

This study aims to describe the differences in critical thinking skills and chemistry learning achievement between learners who follow the model of problem-based learning (PBL) in cooperative learning settings TGT and GI at the rate of material reaction. The research is a quasi-experimental research design with pretest-posttest non equivalent control group designe with sample XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 are determined by random selection technique based on similarity mean value of daily tests I. Experiential learning and learner response is estimated to affect more significant learning achievement in the classroom PBM setting GI as evidenced by the average N-Gain learning outcomes in the classroom PBM setting GI of 0.43 and the average N-Gain learning achievement in the classroom PBM setting TGT of 0.32. The differences are also evidenced by the results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.002 (p <0.05). While based on the calculation of the average critical thinking skills in mind that PBM setting TGT has a more significant effect than the PBM GI settings as evidenced by the difference in the value of critical thinking skills after learning process (posttest) and prior to the learning process (pretest) on PBM classroom setting TGT and PBM GI settings are respectively 19.93 and 14.42. While the test is based on differences in critical thinking skills, it is known that there are differences between classes of critical thinking skills PBM settings TGT and PBM settings GI as evidenced by the significant value of 0.018 (p <0.05).Keywords: PBM setting TGT, PBM setting GI, critical thinking skills, learning achievement of chemistry.
