Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, caregivers and parents play a crucial role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, necessitating adjustments in self-care and the acquisition of essential caregiving skills. Research efforts are focused on developing effective health promotion programs and understanding the pandemic's impacts on individuals with intellectual disabilities, highlighting the importance of systematic literature reviews in synthesizing knowledge for effective caregiving during this crisis. This research aimed to systematically review literature related to stimulating development for health promotion in children with intellectual disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. A systematic literature review searched keywords related to variables and sample groups. Data sources were electronic databases, including Scopus, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and PubMed. The research included studies on the care and health support of individuals with intellectual disabilities over the past 10 years, from September 1, 2021, to January 1, 2022. Among these studies, 8 were selected, focusing on stimulating development and health support for children with intellectual disabilities. The systematic review yielded four programs: 1) Health education in classrooms to promote the health of individuals with intellectual disabilities, 2) Health record registration and health check-ups to promote health, 3) Training with equipment, and 4) Weight reduction and body mass index improvement programs to promote health among individuals with intellectual disabilities. The literature review revealed an increase in knowledge about programs for stimulating development and promoting health in children with intellectual disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

Abstract

Background: Sleep disturbance is a major problem among critically ill patients in the Intensive care unit (ICU) and often leads to negative experiences during their treatment. Previous studies found that environmental factors including noises and lighting mainly associated with the patient's sleep disturbance. Objectives: This study purposed to explore the relationship between environmental noise and lighting with the experience of sleep disturbance among critically ill patients in ICU. Methods: Analytical descriptive with a cross-sectional study approach was used in this study in the population of critically ill patients who were treated in the ICU. Setting of the study was conducted at a public hospital in West Sumatra, Indonesia from June to August 2021. The sample size was calculated by using power analysis from a previous study which obtained 80 participants. A purposive sampling technique was used based on the inclusion criteria. Data was analyzed by using percentages for the descriptive statistic and the Spearmen rank test for the inferential statistic. Results: Results of the study showed that 37.5% of the participants had sleep disturbance from environmental noise and 31 participants 38.75% of participants had sleep disturbance from lighting. Moreover, there was a significant relationship between environmental factors with sleep dis- orders in critically ill patients. Conclusion: Environmental factors of noises and lighting associated with the experience of disturbance among critically ill patients in ICU. It should be expected that hospitals could provide health education for patients and families suffering from sleep disturbance to maintain a calm environment noise and good lighting.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Loneliness becomes a phenomenon in early adulthood due to the adolescent crisis towards early adulthood. One of the problems of loneliness is caused by a person's personality. Nursing students are prone to experiencing loneliness because they are in early adulthood, which at this age will go through a stage of psychological development, namely intimacy versus isolation. This study aims to determine the relationship between the big five personality types and the level of loneliness in nursing students. The research design used correlational quantitative with cross-sectional data collection. The number of samples used in this study was 95 respondents using a total sampling of students of the Nursing Professional Study Program, Faculty of Nursing, University of Jember. The Big Five Inventory (BFI) questionnaire was used to identify personality types, while the UCLA Loneliness Scale questionnaire was used to measure loneliness levels. It was found that 32 respondents (33.7%) had agreeableness personality types and 43 respondents (45.3%) experienced moderate loneliness. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a p-value of 0.649 indicating that there was no relationship between the big five personality types and loneliness in college students. This happens because it is influenced by several factors such as where you live, the presence of close friends and someone special who will provide space for someone to interact so that feelings of loneliness are reduced. Abstract

The latest data shows an increase of 35% in the case of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP). The incidence of VAP in the intensive care unit can be minimized with a bundle of VAP. The success of the bundle VAP can be achieved through compliance in maintenance. The nursing profession tends to have a high workload, which can have a negative impact on patient care. This study aims to identify the relationship between the nurses' workload and compliance with the implementation of the Bundle VAP in the intensive care unit. This research method uses a quantitative approach with cross-sectional designs. The sampling technique uses a total sampling with a total sample of 38 intensive room nurses. The data collection method in this research is an online questionnaire consisting of the NASA-TLX questionnaire and the VAP bundle implementation compliance questionnaire. The results of Chi Square's analysis showed a significant relationship between the nurse's workload and compliance with the implementation of the Bundle VAP in the intensive care unit with a sig. Value of 0.000 (P<0.05). Nurses with a high workload have a higher risk of not complying with the implementation of the VAP bundle than nurses with a medium workload. Efforts are needed to improve the VAP prevention training program, provide education for managing workloads, and create a strong teamwork culture.

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients undergoing continuous hemodialysis (HD) experience decreased daily physical activity, lower tolerance to exercise and poorer health-related quality of life. Thus, HD patients need interventions that focus on their physical and psychological characteristics to improve their quality of life. This study aims to discuss the effectiveness of intradialytic exercise, cognitive behavior therapy and deep breath relaxation in improving the quality of life of hemodialysis patients. The study used a systematic literature review design to identify articles on intradialytic exercise, cognitive behavior therapy and deep breath relaxation from 2019-2023 was obtained from PubMed, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. Seven studies found that intradialytic exercise enhances CKD patients' quality of life during hemodialysis. Four studies noted cognitive behavioral therapy's positive impact on physiological aspects, enhancing patients’ well-being. Additionally, six studies observed deep breath relaxation's beneficial effects on physiological parameters, ultimately enhancing patients' quality of life during hemodialysis. Intradialytic exercise, cognitive behavior therapy and deep breath relaxation are effective in improving the quality of life of hemodialysis patients. Furthermore, these three interventions helped accelerate the medical approach to chronic kidney disease.
