Abstract

Tropical fruits such as mango, mangosteen, and guava are amongIndonesia’s leading horticultural products. Mangosteen fruit is the largest export toIndonesia’s total fruit exports. However, Indonesia's mangosteen export share is stillvery low, and this should be maximized. Mango also has promising exportopportunities as it occupied the 21st position as an exporting country in 2021. Guava also has same condition with an increase in export and already having marketsabroad, such as Singapore and Korea. This study aims to analyze the competitivenessof Indonesian mangosteen exports in the international market and compare with othermangosteen-exporting countries in the international market to determine the factorsthat affect mangosteen competitiveness. The data used are secondary data from 2003to 2022. The analysis methods used were RCA, ECI, TSI and multiple regressionanalysis were used. The RCA analysis results show that Indonesian mangosteen hasa comparative advantage with a value of 1.053. The results of the ECI analysis showthat Indonesian mangosteen has a competitive advantage and experiences anincreasing export trend with a value of 1.217 and TSI shows that Indonesia tends tobe a mangosteen exporting country and is at the maturity stage with a value of 0.903.However, Indonesia's competitive position is still below that of other countries suchas Thailand, India, Peru and Kenya. Factors that significantly affect Indonesia’s RCAare Indonesia’s and Thailand’s export volume and Indonesia’s export prices.

Abstract

This study analyzes the financial feasibility of post-replanting smallholder oil palm farming and formulates priority strategies to enhance productivity in support of sustainable agribusiness development in Muaro Jambi Regency. Primary data were collected through structured interviews with 30 smallholder farmers in Sungai Bahar District who had participated in the Oil Palm Replanting (PSR) program. Financial feasibility was evaluated using Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Payback Period (PP), while strategic priorities were determined using a SWOT–QSPM approach. The results show that post-replanting oil palm farming is financially feasible, with an NPV of IDR 28,450,000 per hectare, an IRR of 18.2%. The payback period is estimated at 4.4 years, indicating a relatively fast return on investment under existing conditions. The average farmer income reaches IDR 68,326,560 per year. However, income constraints remain significant during the immature crop phase (TBM), which limits short-term cash flow. The QSPM analysis identifies institutional strengthening, intercropping-based diversification, and optimization of PSR support as priority strategies to enhance productivity and ensure long-term sustainability. These findings provide empirical evidence that integrating financial feasibility with strategic planning is essential for improving the resilience of smallholder oil palm agribusiness.

Abstract

Puntang Coffee is one of Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the coffee processing industry that provides various types of green coffee beans and roasted beans in West Java. It is known that there is an increase in new customers from Puntang Coffee by 10% per year with an average demand for coffee shops and roastery for green beans products of at least 50 - 100 kg. However, this was not accompanied by the growth of partner farmers, which actually tended to decrease during 2022- 2023, namely by 7.6% and 3.7%. The decrease in the number of partner members can indicate that there are problems regarding the loyalty of partner farmers of Puntang Coffee. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the effect of service quality on the loyalty of Puntang Coffee partner farmers with satisfaction as a mediating variable. This study used a quantitative approach with accidental sampling as the sampling technique to collected data from 84 respondent. The analysis used is SEM-PLS with SmartPLS 4.0. The results shown that the service quality variable has a positive and significant effect on the partner farmers’ loyalty variable, the service quality variable has a positive and significant effect on the partner farmers’ satisfaction variable, the member satisfaction variable has a positive and significant effect on partner farmers’ loyalty, and the service quality variable has a positive and significant effect on the partner farmers’ loyalty variable through satisfaction as a mediating variable.

Abstract

Structural economic transformation, particularly the shift from agriculture-based activities toward industrial and service-oriented sectors, is a key indicator of regional development. This study aims to examine whether structural transformation from the agricultural sector to other economic sectors has occurred on Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. The study employs secondary data in the form of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at constant prices for Sulawesi Island and its provinces during the period 2010–2024, obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS). A descriptive quantitative approach is used to analyze changes in sectoral contributions to regional economic structure. The results indicate that Sulawesi Island has experienced a decline in the contribution of the agricultural sector, accompanied by an increase in the manufacturing, information and communication, and trade sectors. The direction and magnitude of structural transformation vary across provinces, resulting in three distinct transformation patterns: (1) a shift from the primary sector toward secondary and tertiary sectors, (2) a concentration of transformation toward the secondary sector, and (3) a shift toward the tertiary sector. These findings suggest that structural transformation in Sulawesi Island is occurring unevenly across regions and is strongly influenced by regional economic characteristics and development policies. The results provide important insights for regional development planning and sectoral policy formulation in Sulawesi Island.

Abstract

Feed is a vital requirement as a means of livestock production to obtain nutrients in the development process. This study aims to analyze the optimal ruminant feed concentrate raw material inventory, reorder point, safety stock and analyze the comparison of the total cost of concentrate feed inventory before and after using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method at PT. Andini Megah Sejahtera. The research method used is a case study. Data analysis is done by quantitative analysis calculating the optimal raw material inventory through the EOQ method, then comparing with actual conditions and calculating the cost efficiency value of raw material inventory. The results showed that the average order quantity of the most optimal and economical raw material was 351 tons with an average order frequency of 6 times a year. The average amount of safety stock is 235.17 tons and the reorder point is 626.86 tons. A significant difference can be seen between the company's actual total inventory cost and the total inventory cost using the EOQ method. Inventory calculations using the EOQ method can achieve an average inventory cost efficiency of 92% with an average savings of IDR 36,551,229,547 per year. The total inventory cost based on the actual conditions of the company is on average Rp39,194,917,257 greater than using the EOQ method with an average of IDR 643,687,710 per year.

Abstract

Environment and economic losses due to anthracnose disease attacks on chilli farming are inevitable, fostering farmers' risk perceptions. Unmanaged risks contribute to inappropriate disease control behaviors that ultimately harm farmers and environment. Risk reduction can be the focus of agricultural extension activities, to reduce losses at the farmer level. This study aims to discover how farmers' risk perceptions influence anthracnose disease control and to formulate relevant extension focuses. The research is conducted in three rural areas in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta: Purworejo Regency, Wonogiri Regency and Sleman Regency. The mixed-methods approach is carried out through observations on farmers' land and surveys using indicators of Good Horticultural Practices to explore disease control methods, perceptions of pesticide use and farmers' risk perceptions of disease control. The results show that unmanaged farmers' risk perceptions give rise to collective barriers among farmers. The context of locality and farmer institutions is a determinant of farmers’ learning success. Primarily, efforts to reduce risk perception are urgent to be the focus of agricultural extension in rural areas. An extension service that orients farmers to their practices is the key to increasing the confidence of farmers in sustainable disease control.
