Abstract

Indonesia is one country that has great potential in the Paralympic Olympic event. But unfortunately, the potential and achievements are not supported by means of adequate training of Paralympic athletes. Three importants constraints that affect Paralympic athletes are training, a gym and dorm athletes are far apart, the existing sports facilities are public facilities that are less facilitate Paralympic athletes, as well as the city of Solo that it is not possible to accommodate Paralympic athletes training activities. As a problem-solving strategies, takes planning a national training center that can accommodate the needs of Paralympic athletes to improve athletic ability. The training center emphasizes on the design of the facility is accessible for users, especially the Paralympic athletes. Karanganyar selected as the location of the training center because it meets the criteria of the training center. The formulation of the problem in this design is to realize the concept and design of the National Training Center Paralympic Athletes in Karanganyar with Emphasis Architectural Accessibility. Thus it can be formulated National Training Centre planning objectives is to improve and develop the ability of Paralympic athletes in the international arena by emphasizing design accessible to users. The method is carried out to determine the settlement of the problem is through observation at a boarding, training facilities, and the needs of Paralympic athletes and NPC of Indonesia (National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia). Planning national training centers should emphasize the accessibility of architecture in the design of buildings and facilities that are accessible to users. The principle of accessibility architecture is emphasized that security, safety, usability, and independence. Application of these principles appear in the planning design that uses the ramp in all its circulation both inside and in the curved building, the layout of the room and the furniture, the corridors of the building, parking access, handrail, door with universal design, as well as signs and alarms that apply to building national training center. The division of the building into several mass and circulation that connect a response from the existing contours of the site and to emphasize the accessibility of the architectural design. Keywords: Accessibility Architecture, Paralympic Athletes, Karanganyar, National Training Center

Abstract

Indonesia is known as an agricultural country, which means Indonesia has high rate of agricultural production. However, Indonesia has not fully fulfilled its own food needs, seeing by the high number of food imports to Indonesia. Therefore, the government's agricultural development program is established which includes the development of science and technology (IPTEK) in agriculture. The application of Ecological Architecture theory is considered appropriate because it involves all related elements in the design of human, building and nature. This research is aimed to determine the design of research centre building which is able to facilitate the research activities in accordance with the standard of research space based on the principle of Ecological Architecture theory. The method used is data collection based on literature study, observation and comparation to the design object and application of Ecological Architecture theory, which is then applied as design strategies on the design object, starting from site selection, site analysis, as well as façade analysis. From the analysis that has been done then generated a research centre design that can support the sustainability of agricultural research activities based on the application of Ecological Architecture theory.

Abstract

Surakarta has various potentials in contemporary art, namely the potential of artists, the intensity of activities, as well as formal and informal art groups and institutions. Unfortunately, those potentials are not equal with the availability of facilities to accommodate them. Therefore, a Contemporary Art Gallery in Surakarta is needed as a place of appreciation, recreation and education. Gallery is a fixed container in the form of a closed building to accommodate visual communication activities through exhibitions and other artistic activities (Webster, 1979). Contemporary art is a developing art that responds to and reflects the situation at the moment (Maria & Belle Bintang Biarezky, 2016). To be able to accommodate contemporary art, Organic Architecture is the right approach to be applied to building design strategies. Organic Architecture is radical, free, flexible, dynamic (Pearson, 2002). Organic Architecture has 8 design principles, namely building as nature, continuous present, form follows flow, of the people, of the hill, of the materials, youthful and unexpected, and living music, which will be studied to determine design strategies. The principles that can be applied will be applied to the analysis process that will result in the design of the Contemporary Art Gallery which can accommodate various contemporary art activities, represent them and accommodate possible changes.

Abstract

Planning and design of the Flats with Ecological Architecture approach is motivated by the density of settlements and slums along the Boro River,Jagalan Village, Surakarta. Density of existing settlements and slum area along the river resulted in environmental degradation and reduced Jagalan Village Green Open Space, because the settlement construction is done without regard to environmental conditions, resulting in an imbalance between natural and artificial environments. Environmental damage in the Village Jagalan then compounded by the behavior of people who dump waste in the river. Based on this phenomenon occurs due to lack of sufficient density residential land settlement and imbalance between the natural and the artificial environment characterized by reduced RTH and flooding in Jagalan. The purpose of the planning and design of flats with Ecological Architecture approach is to accommodate the needs of residential Jagalan and create a balance between the environment and settlements. The approach used in the flats that takes into account the principles of planning and design of Ecology Architecture include: green buildings, building that responds to floods, waste water conservation so that waste water discharged into the river does not pollute the environment, saving energy by considering the direction of the wind and sun , and using recycled materials in the flats. The results of the planning and design of the Flats with Ecological Architecture approach is a dwelling that is in accordance with the needs of the community and environment friendly. Keywords: A Flats, Ecology Architecture, Prone to flooding
