Abstract

A study is carried out to determine the metal content of zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) in well water samples by AAS using a wet method of destruction through the addition of concentrated HNO3 as a solvent and forming acidic. The measuring the levels of zinc in the sample performed at a wavelength (λ) = 213 nm and measuring the levels of iron in the sample performed at a wavelength (λ) = 248.3 nm. The results obtained for the levels of zinc metal respectively are 0.3121 mg/L, 0.1175 mg/L, and 0.0478 mg/L, and iron metal levels are 0.394 mg/L, 0.546 mg/L, and 0.324 mg/L. These data indicate the metal content of zinc in wells water Pantoloan Village North Palu Palu district is still below the threshold value while the metal content of iron in wells near the sea (sampel B) is above the standard threshold value defined in the Rules of Ministry of Health Decree No. 492 /2010.

Abstract

The Lake Lindu is one of the potential water resources in Central Sulawesi with various species of fish and one of the most commonly found fish are species mujair fish. Mujair fish processing wastes such as offal can be polluted the environment if not managed properly. The study aim is to determine the contents of NPK nutrients in the liquid organic fertilizer by adding MOL banana weevil. The contents of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) was determined by using spectro direct. The NPK contents in the liquid organic fertilizer of mujair fish waste from Lake Lindu reached the maximum NPK contents of nitrogen (N) of 0.311% by addition 100 mL MOL banana weevil, phosphorus (P) 0.167% by addition 150 mL of MOL banana weevil, and potassium (K) of 0.037% by addition 150 mL MOL banana weevil.

Abstract

Today, the battery is the most practical and in expensive energy storage device in a modern community. A variety of new materials technologies has been developed in the manufacture of the battery, especially the development of the solid electrolyte (solid). Polymer Electrolytes can be found in the polymer batteries form such as lithium ion polymer battery. A natural polymer such as chitosan is potential as polymer electrolyte membrane for battery applications. The chitosan has amino and hydroxyl groups that allow for modification. The modification of chitosan membrane is expected to produce the better membranes characters. The aim of this research is to study the effect of the addition of inorganic filler kaolin on the conductivity of the polymer electrolyte that made of chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol than was added to the lithium salt. The ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol-lithium-kaolin was measured by using an impedance spectroscopy. The measurement results showed that the polymer electrolyte chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol-lithium with the addition of 4% kaolin provide the highest ionic conductivity is large 6.551x10-5 S/cm. In comparison, characteristics of batteries that made from polymer electrolyte chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol-lithium with the addition of kaolin have a voltage of 2.4 volts which have similarities to the commercial batteries. This result indicates that the kaolin can be used as a filler to increase the ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol-lithium, and then it can be developed as a battery.

Abstract

Durian (durio zibethinus) is a tropical plant which is included in the family Malvaceae. The durian flesh is consumed and the durian seed are waste. The purpose of this study was to process durian seeds as raw material for bioethanol production and to determine the levels of ethanol produced from the durian seeds. Fermentation process in this study was conducted using yeast saccharomyces cerevisiae, NPK and urea fertilizers as the starters. After the starters were incubated for two days, then added to the samples and fermented for 5, 8, 11 and 14 days and then distilled. After distilled, the measured ethanol yield, the reaction, with sodium, water dissolued, gravity, and ethanol pH produced. The results showed that fermentation for 5 days derived ethanol content of l5.15%, density 1.08 g/mL, and the pH 3.35. Fermentation for 8 days derived ethanol content of 4.67%, density 0.98 g/mL, and the pH 3.11. Fermentation for 11 days obtained ethanol content of 5.48%, density 0.99 g/mL, and the pH 3.45. Fermentation for 14 days obtained ethanol content of 2.30%, density 1.00 g/mL, and the pH 3.40. This study concluded that durian seeds can be processed into raw material for producing ethanol by fermentation.fermentationfor 5 days was good compared to the 8, 11 and 14 days with ethanol content of 15.15%.

Abstract

This sudy presents the research of classroom action (PTK) executed in two cycle, in which every cycle cover the planning, execution, observation and reflection. This research aims to increase chemistry result study for student of XI IPA2 class on senior high school 1 of Kasimbar in rate reaction material through application of cooperative learning two stay two stray model. Research subject was XI IPA2 class on senior high school 1 of Kasimbar amount to 35 students. Data type was collected data qualitatively in the form of result of observation of student activity and learn at the time of process learn take place, and quantitative data in the form of result learn the student of final tes evaluation of action. Result of cycle I obtained by activity of student and teacher be at the good criterion, percentage of absorpsion classical 62.0% and complete learn the classical 65.7%. The second cycle experience of the improvement, that is activity of student and teacher be at the criterion very good, percentage of absorpsion classical 76.8% and complete learn the classical 88.5%. Results indicated that the application cooperative learning model two stay two stray can improved chemistry result study for student of xi IPA2 class in reaction rate material on senior high school 1 of Kasimbar.

Abstract

The research aim is to determine the effect of sugar-apple fruit extract on the reduction of blood pressure in mice as the tested animal. The sugar-apple extract was obtained through maceration method with the ratio of sugar-apple fruit powder and water 1:10, after that the heating was done to produce the extract in solid form, then the potassium content was measured by using a spectrophotometer and male mice were induced by adrenaline injection, namely epinephrine. The mice were divided into 5 groups randomly with different treatment. P1 was as a negative control (-), P2, P3, P4 were given the sugar-apple extract with the doses of 50, 100 and 150 mg/kg BW respectively, while P5 was as positive control (+) that was given captopril. The data obtained were analyzed by the statistical analysis, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and was followed by Duncan’s test. The result obtained that on preclinical testing revealed that the sugar-apple extract was proven to reduce the blood pressure of mice and the effective extract was the concentration of 150 mg/kg with the average blood pressure of 48 mmHg.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the levels of potassium (K) and calcium (Ca) in the rind and flesh of the kopek purple eggplant (solanum melongena) fruit. Determination of mineral level was done by destruction of the sample using stong acids, which were nitric acid (HNO3) and perchloric acid (HClO4). The method used in this study was a laboratory experiment using a flame photometry. The results showed that the levels of potassium in the flesh of kopek purple eggplant farmers I and II were 215 ± 7,07 mg/100 g and 195 ± 14,14 mg/100 g, respectively; while the rind of kopek purple eggplant farmers I and II were 142,5 ± 3.53 mg/100 g and 102.50 ± 3.53 mg/100 g, respectively. The levels of calcium in the flesh of kopek purple eggplant farmers I and II were 10 ± 7.07 mg/100g and 15 ± 3.53 mg/100 g, respectively; while the rind of the kopek purple eggplant farmers I and II were 6.25 ± 1.76 mg/100 g and 7.50 ± 3.53 mg/100 g, respectively.

Abstract

The research regarding the extraction of copper ions with liquid emulsion membrane has been done. It used a laboratory experiment method by using dithizone as a carrier compound, paraffin liquid as the membrane, a solution of HCl as an internal phase, Span-60 as surfactant, and a solution of copper(II) as the sample solution. This study was conducted to examine the ability of dithizone as a cation carrier and to determine the optimum conditions for the extraction of copper(II) ions in a solution that includes dithizone concentration and copper(II) ion extraction capacity with liquid membrane emulsion technique. The dithizone concentrations used were 0.005 M, 0.010 M, 0.015 M, 0.020 M, and 0.025 M. On the other hands the copper(II) solution concentrations used were 348 ppm, 512 ppm, 689 ppm, 857 ppm, and 1029 ppm. Concentration of copper(II) ion in external-phase was determined by using SpectroDirect Spectrophotometer. The result showed that the use of 0.020 M dithizone, 50 mL of liquid emulsion membrane could extract 857 ppm copper(II) ions with the extract percentage was 84.13%.

Abstract

The research aim was to study the effect of adding % weight alumina on the conductivity of polymer electrolyte chitosan-PVA-lithium. The characterization of functional groups was determined using fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR). The Ionic conductivity of polymer electrolyte chitosan-PVA-lithium-alumina was measured by using impedance spectroscopy. The measurement results show the polymer electrolyte with the addition of 5% alumina provides the highest ionic conductivity of 3.991 x 10-3S/cm. Battery characteristics of electrolyte polymer of chitosan-PVA-lithium with the addition of alumina have a voltage of 1.4 Volts compared to commercial batteries which have a voltage of 1.5 Volts. These results indicate that alumina can be used as a filler to increase the ionic conductivity.

Abstract

Patikan kebo (euphorbia hirta L.) is a plant commonly found in the tropical regions. The objectiveof this research was to determine the antioxidant activity of Patikan kebo leaves extract and tocategorize the strength of the extract in blocking free radicals. This research was conducted by laboratoryexperiment using maceration extraction techniques. Antioxidant activity of the extract was tested using1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH). Variation concentrations of the used of Patikan kebo leavesextract and vitamin c as a positive control used for analysis were of 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm, and 80ppm. Analysis of the sample was conducted using spectronic UV-Vis. The result showed that Patikankebo leaves extract was a very strong antioxidant. It was proved by the number of IC50 less then 50. Thecalculation of IC50 of patikan kebo leaves extract was 11.50 mg/L.
