Abstract

High operational costs and downtime risks can affect industry efficiency making equipment maintenance optimization an urgent need. PT. IAA AMO, as a manufacturing industry in the field of aircraft maintenance, faces significant challenges with the low reliability of Ground Power Unit (GPU) engines which only reaches 86%. This has led to an increase in the company's operating costs. The purpose of this study is to optimize Preventive maintenance on the Ground Power Unit (GPU) in aircraft maintenance at PT. IAA AMO using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method. The results show that the MTTF of the GPU is 311 hours, while the MTBF is 373 hours. To prevent  sudden breakdowns, preventive maintenance is recommended every 311 hours for non-repairable components  and 373 hours for repairable components. This research offers a more effective maintenance strategy to improve GPU reliability and lower operational costs. This research results in more effective maintenance planning, which not only minimizes downtime and operational costs, but also improves the overall reliability of the GPU machine. With the implementation of FMEA methods and  the right preventive maintenance  strategy, companies can anticipate breakdowns early, extend engine life, and ensure smooth operations in support of aircraft maintenance.

Abstract

The increasing need for productivity and the use of high technology in the form of machines increases the need for maintenance functions. At PT. XYZ, which produces ready mix concrete  , has problems with the production machine with excess machine load. This results in downtime and delays in the production process, resulting in a decrease in machine operational productivity. The purpose of this study is to predict the time of damage to the engine, so that it can determine the right engine maintenance schedule periodically. In this research, the method used is Support Vector Machine which is implemented to python. This prediction is carried out to improve the efficiency and performance of the machine by predicting damage or failure that may occur in the future. Where this SVM can accurately predict breakdowns and proactively optimize maintenance schedules at the right time. This allows companies to improve efficiency in their operational systems, extend the life of machines, and reduce maintenance costs.

Abstract

Productivity is the key for business actors to compete in a highly competitive market. Productivity is closely related to the effectiveness and efficiency of using resources in producing output. This research focuses on Flying ADK MSMEs, which shows a significant increase in production in three periods (May 2023 – March 2024). Production achievement that continues to approach the set targets shows great potential for growth, but requires further strategic interventions to improve efficiency and competitiveness. The purpose of the study is to analyze the level of productivity, profitability, and price improvement factors in ADK Fly MSMEs and provide recommendations for improvement. The method used is  the American Productivity Center (APC), to measure productivity, profitability, and price improvement factors through optimizing the use of resources such as labor, raw materials, energy, and capital. The measurement results showed an increase in productivity of 1.4% in the second period and 0.4% in the third period. Profitability also increased by 1.4% and 0.4% in the same period. The price improvement index increased every year, reaching 0.97% in the second period and 0.93% in the third period, which had a positive impact on the company's productivity and profitability. This increase was analyzed in detail using a fishbone diagram. The results of this study provide recommendations that can be used by business actors to optimize resources and improve operational efficiency.

Abstract

Jang Village, located in Moro District, Karimun Regency, has abundant seaweed resources utilized for various products, including collagen drinks. This study aims to analyze the financial feasibility of seaweed processing using parameters such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PP), and Break Even Point (BEP). The analysis results indicate that the BEP is 1.236 units, with a BEP in Rupiah of Rp6.946,00, an NPV of Rp195.869.079,29, an IRR of 21%, and a PP of 4.4 months. Based on the evaluation of financial and non-financial aspects, the seaweed processing business run by CV. Moro's Pure Marine Collagen is considered feasible and profitable. The findings of this study are used to develop long-term business strategies, including global market expansion supported by digital marketing and product diversification such as sports supplements and skincare products. Competitive advantage is enhanced through product certification and continuous research. Business sustainability is achieved by implementing environmentally friendly practices and empowering coastal communities, which is expected to support local economic growth and maintain the sustainability of natural resources.

Abstract

The rapid development of the food industry along with the increasing mobility of the community drives the demand for more sophisticated, hygienic, and efficient kitchen utensils. However, frying utensils that are still often used have weaknesses, such as uneven heat distribution and less than optimal residue filtration. This can reduce product quality and production efficiency, so improvements are needed to maintain product consistency and quality. This research aims to redesign the frying device. The SWOT method in this study helps to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement in traditional frying utensils and  the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method is used to identify user needs. The results of the study show that the development of this new frying device has proven to be more efficient compared to traditional convex pans, especially in a more even distribution of heat. With the addition of thermostat features, kitchen timer, gas detector, and waste filtration system. These innovations not only improve efficiency and convenience, but also provide additional protection for user safety.

Abstract

Optimizing the number of workers is an important factor in improving the company's operational efficiency by ensuring that each worker has an appropriate role and workload. This research aims to optimize the number of workers in a manufacturing company that produces processed paper in Karawang Regency. This study uses the time and motion study method  to measure labor needs precisely. Initially, the number of workers in  the uncoated finishing  department was 14 people. Through the measurement of time and motion study, the ideal number of workers needed was obtained as many as 11 people. There was a difference of as many as 3 workers between the initial number and the measurement results. This result allows the company to optimize the number of workers according to operational needs. The benefits of this optimization include increased operational efficiency and labor cost savings, which can ultimately improve the company's profitability, competitiveness, and performance.

Abstract

Productivity is an important indicator in increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of MSMEs, especially in the tofu industry which faces the challenge of production costs and dependence on imported raw materials. This study aims to measure and increase the productivity of the Pak Budi Tofu Factory through the integration of three methods of Objective Matrix (OMAX), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA). The OMAX method is used to assess productivity based on four main ratios, AHP to determine the priority weight of causative factors, and HIRA to identify internal and external risks that affect productivity. The results show fluctuations in the productivity index during 2023, with the highest value in April (176.82%) and lowest in February (-75.69%). AHP showed raw material efficiency as the dominant factor (weight 0.428), while HIRA revealed the main risks in the form of high worker absenteeism, production machine disruptions, and dependence on imported soybeans. This study concludes that the integration of the three methods can provide a comprehensive productivity analysis and support data-driven decision-making in the MSME sector.

Abstract

White oyster mushroom cultivation in Indonesia faces obstacles to the efficiency of the planting media sterilization process (baglog), especially for medium-scale farmers. This research aims to design a steamer oven with a capacity of 1,200 baglogs that is efficient and according to operational needs in the field. The method used is a theoretical simulation-based engineering design, including the analysis of energy needs, steam capacity, oven dimensions, and sterilization time. The oven design uses a water tube type boiler system that is integrated with the combustion chamber and equipped with a one-way steam circulation system. The simulation results showed that the sterilization process could be completed in ±4.73 hours with better fuel efficiency compared to conventional methods. These findings show significant potential in increasing the productivity and efficiency of the oyster mushroom cultivation process. However, further implementation through prototyping and field trials is required to validate the actual performance of the tool. This design is expected to be a reference for simple technology-based farming tool innovation in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

The clothing industry is one of the manufacturing sectors that is highly dependent on the smooth supply chain. Disruptions in the procurement, production, and distribution processes can pose various risks that have an impact on the efficiency and continuity of the company's operations. This study aims to identify the sources of risk in the supply chain of the clothing industry and formulate effective mitigation strategies. The qualitative approach was used through a case study on one of the clothing companies, with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation studies. The analysis was carried out using the SWOT method to map internal and external factors, as well as the House of Risk (HOR) method to identify and prioritize risks and mitigation strategies. The results show that there are 17 risk events and 20 main risk agents that affect the company's supply chain. Based on the calculation of Aggregate Risk Potential (ARP) and effectiveness to hardship ratio (ETD), six priority mitigation strategies were obtained that can significantly reduce the impact of risk. The implementation of HOR-based mitigation strategies can help companies manage supply chain risks more sistematically and measurably, as well as increase competitiveness and operational sustainability amid market uncertainty.

Abstract

The transformation of traditional industrial areas into eco-smart zones has become a strategic solution for reducing environmental impacts while improving operational efficiency. This study aims to analyze investment and technology challenges in the transformation of traditional industrial estates towards eco-smart industrial estates, as well as evaluate their impact on the company's environmental, economic, and social sustainability. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative data analysis from the implementation of eco-smart technology across various industrial sectors with interviews involving key stakeholders. Quantitative data includes CO2 emission reductions, operational cost efficiencies, and natural resource management, while interviews explore the challenges and opportunities in technology adoption. The findings reveal that implementing eco-smart technology over four years successfully reduced CO2 emissions by 50%, achieved 40% energy cost efficiency, and generated a total operational cost saving of 26%. Additionally, the use of natural resources, such as water and energy, decreased by 20%. The main challenges identified include high initial investment and the need for collaboration among stakeholders to accelerate technology adoption. This study concludes that despite the hurdles in investment and technology implementation, transitioning to eco-smart systems offers significant environmental and economic benefits. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and industry players in developing sustainable industrial zones.
