Abstract

Warehouse layout has a crucial role in supporting material flow efficiency and operational cost control in internal logistics activities. The purpose of this research is to redesign the layout of raw material warehouses using  the data-based CBS method  , as well as integrate it with a WMS system based on RFID technology, in order to improve operational efficiency, stock management accuracy, and support sustainability and productivity in the food industry. The method in this study uses a Class-Based Storage (CBS) approach integrated with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) based on RFID technology. The results showed that the 5th alternative layout provided the best performance with an Adjacency Score of 0.39 and was able to reduce the total daily displacement distance from 1,091.5 meters to 656 meters (a decrease of 39.9%). This efficiency has an impact on reducing daily material handling costs of IDR 2,146,915 (44.16%). The additional area of 1,110 m² is used for strategic zone arrangement such as loading docks, raw materials, and production preparation areas. The integration of the RFID system with the Warehouse Management System (WMS) also increases the accuracy of stock recording from 74.35% to 89.17%. These findings show that the use of spatial data, activity analysis, and integrated technology can improve logistics efficiency and support the smooth operation of warehouses.

Abstract

Clinical chemistry reagents are important components in supporting the smooth running of medical laboratory examinations. Timely availability of these reagents significantly affects the speed and accuracy of diagnoses. Meanwhile, at Siti Fatimah Hospital, reagent management faces challenges due to fluctuations in demand and delays in procurement, potentially hindering services and leading to patient referrals to external facilities. For this reason, a more accurate planning strategy is needed. One of them is through the application of the Production and Operations Management (POM) principle, which can increase efficiency in managing Safety stock based on historical data. This study aims to develop a forecasting model for the need for Creatinine, blood urea, and alkaline phosphatase reagents. Then, design an optimal Safety stock plan to anticipate demand uncertainty. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were processed using QM for Windows software to obtain time series forecasting results and Safety stock calculations. The results of the analysis showed that the linear trend method was the best forecasting method for the need for Creatinine and blood urea reagents. For alkaline phosphatase, the best method is Exponential Smoothing With Trend. Then, in the calculation of Safety stock, the assumption of a service level of 95% produces reserves of 99.56 mL for Creatinine, 87.85 mL for blood urea, and 3.80 mL for alkaline phosphatase. This method proves effective in ensuring optimal reagent availability and minimizing stockout risks.

Abstract

The current layout of the production laboratory still faces obstacles that hinder both practicum activities and production processes. Inefficient machine placement causes long material transfer distances, while simultaneous machine usage leads to activity congestion that disrupts workflow. This study aims to redesign the laboratory layout by applying Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) in the higher education context. Data were collected through purposive sampling, covering existing conditions, material flow, and space requirements. The analysis was carried out using SLP to generate alternative layouts, which were then evaluated with the Blocplan program as an optimization tool. The results show that the initial layout produced material transfer distances of 125 m in the Welding Lab, 50 m in the Milling Lab, and 88 m in the Turning Lab. The proposed SLP layout reduced these distances to 55 m, 30 m, and 62 m, while Blocplan only achieved 75 m, 43 m, and 73 m, respectively. Thus, SLP proved more effective than Blocplan, reducing transfer distances by more than 50% in several laboratories. This study contributes theoretically by enriching the literature on laboratory layout and practically by offering a more efficient design that can serve as a reference for developing practicum facilities in higher education.

Abstract

Traditional palm sugar production faces various risks such as material contamination, occupational accidents, and procedural inconsistencies that reduce product quality and production safety. Indonesia’s national sugar trade deficit reached 5 million tons in 2023, highlighting the urgent need for risk mitigation in this sector. This study aims to identify, measure, and prioritize risks across 22 stages of the palm sugar production process using the FMEA–Risk Matrix approach, supported by mitigation strategies focused on occupational safety and product quality. A descriptive research method was applied through field observations and interviews. Each potential risk was evaluated using Severity, Occurrence, and Detection scores and then mapped using the Risk Matrix. The analysis identified five main risks, with the highest RPN found in the risk of animal or ant bites (R4 = 175), followed by injury from cutting tools (R5 = 112) and falling from trees (R3 = 96). Most risks were categorized as medium (45%), followed by low (39%) and high (16%). The most dominant mitigation efforts (61%) included routine container cleaning, use of heat-resistant clothing and Kevlar gloves during cooking, and daily monitoring of PPE compliance with a minimum target of 90%. This integrated approach effectively identifies and prioritizes risks in palm sugar production, while enhancing worker safety and product quality. The use of heat-resistant PPE and hygienic procedures has been proven to significantly reduce burn injuries and material contamination. This study expands the application of industrial risk management to traditional agroindustry, offering a measurable mitigation model for palm sugar production and supporting efficiency and sustainability in the national sugar supply chain.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis perencanaan kapasitas pada proses produksi Pressure Vessel di PT. Boma Bisma Indra (BBI) yang sering mengalami keterlambatan pengiriman meski karyawan bekerja lembur. Permasalahan utama berasal dari sistem perencanaan produksi berbasis make to order tanpa peramalan permintaan jangka panjang dan tanpa evaluasi kesesuaian kapasitas.
