Abstract

Food security has emerged as a critical global issue, particularly in urban areas experiencing rapid population growth, land scarcity, and ecological challenges. Urban farming is increasingly recognized as an innovative and sustainable solution to strengthen food security in cities. However, discussions on urban farming often focus on technical and economic dimensions, while ethical and spiritual perspectives—especially from Islamic teachings—remain underexplored. This study aims to examine food security ethics and urban farming practices from the perspective of the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Using a qualitative library-based research method, this study employs a thematic (maudhu‘i) hadith analysis to identify prophetic traditions related to food production, environmental stewardship, self-sufficiency, moderation, and social responsibility. The findings reveal that the Hadith strongly encourages productive land use, even in limited spaces, emphasizes the moral obligation to ensure food availability, and promotes sustainable interaction with nature. Principles such as avoiding waste (israf), maintaining balance (mizan), fostering communal welfare, and ensuring justice in food distribution are deeply embedded in prophetic teachings. Urban farming, when viewed through this ethical framework, is not merely an agricultural practice but a form of worship (‘ibadah) and social responsibility that aligns with Islamic values. This study contributes to interdisciplinary discourse by integrating Islamic ethical perspectives with contemporary urban food systems and offers a normative foundation for developing faith-based food security policies. The findings are expected to enrich Islamic studies, environmental ethics, and sustainable urban development, particularly in Muslim-majority urban contexts. Abstract

This study analyzes the use of TikTok social media and its implications for the construction of religious identity among university students. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted at Al-Qolam University Malang over a period of two months, involving in-depth interviews and observations of female students who actively use TikTok for religious content. The findings indicate that TikTok functions as a space for the expression and negotiation of religious identity, where students act as both content creators and consumers. Although they strive to convey meaningful religious messages, many become entangled in algorithmic demands that prioritize viral content and visual aesthetics. This study affirms that TikTok is not merely a communication tool, but also an arena in which students’ religious identities are constructed and presented within a broader social context. Keywords : TikTok, Religious Identity, University Students.

Abstract

This article examines the role of Islamic Religious Education in building an understanding of gender equality from the perspective of women involved in the Nahdlatul Ulama Female Student Association (IPPNU) religious organization, and identifies IPPNU's contribution to increasing women's participation in religious organizational spaces. This study aims to examine how theconcept of gender equality is understood and internalized by IPPNU women, and how the organization plays a role in encouraging women's involvement in leadership and socio-religious activities. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation of IPPNU administrators and members. The results show that Islamic Religious Education delivered in a contextual and gender-equitable manner plays a role in shaping women's awareness of their rights, roles, and leadership capacity. IPPNU functions as a strategic non-formal educational space in fostering women's self-confidence, active participation, and substantive involvement in decisionmaking within religiousorganizations. However, the implementation of gender equality still faces cultural and social challenges. Therefore, strengthening the perspective of gender equality in Islamic Religious Education is crucial to encourage more equitable and sustainable women'sparticipation in religious organizations. Abstract

Curriculum management in Islamic education has long been dominated by an administrative–technocratic approach that emphasizes compliance with standards, program effectiveness, and cognitive achievement. Such an orientation tends to marginalize affective and relational dimensions, including values of compassion and care, which are central to the educational process in Islam. Philosophically, Islamic education aims to cultivate the whole person (insan kamil) through a comprehensive process of humanization. Previous studies have largely examined curriculum management from the perspectives of educational quality, religious moderation, or twenty-first-century competencies, yet they have not explicitly positioned love as an institutionalized managerial paradigm within curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation. This condition indicates a research gap regarding the integration of love as an ethical and pedagogical foundation in Islamic curriculum management. This study offers a novel conceptualization of LoveBased. Curriculum Management, which frames love (mahabbah and rahmah) not merely as an individual emotional value, but as a guiding managerial principle that shapes curriculum policy, educational relationships, and the orientation of educational goals. The urgency of this research is further reinforced by the contemporary crisis of empathy, the increasing prevalence of symbolic violence in educational practices, and the growing demand for Islamic education capable of transforming learners’ intellectual, moral, and social consciousness. Employing a qualitative approach through a literature review, this study examines works on Islamic educational management, Paulo Freire’s humanistic pedagogy, and the educational thought of classical Muslim scholars such as Al-Ghazali and Ibn Miskawaih, particularly their emphasis on ethics and compassion in education. The findings indicate that love-based curriculum management is able to reorient education from a mere transfer of knowledge toward character formation, strengthen dialogical relationships between educators and learners, and foster the transformation of Islamic education into a more just, inclusive, and meaningful system. Keywords: curriculum management, Islamic education, love, humanism, educational transformation.

Abstract

Social inclusion of minority groups remains a critical issue in Indonesia’s plural society. This study aims to examine the construction of social inclusion for minority groups from the perspective of contemporary fiqh siyasah and its relevance to Indonesia’s constitutional and socio-political context. This research employs a qualitative approach using a normative-critical method through an extensive literature review of contemporary fiqh siyasah, maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, public policy documents, and peer-reviewed scholarly works published within the last five years. Data were analyzed using content analysis and a normative-contextual approach. The findings indicate that the principles of justice (al-‘adl), equality (al-musāwah), and public interest (al-maṣlaḥah) within fiqh siyasah are substantively aligned with modern concepts of social inclusion. However, persistent social exclusion of minority groups in Indonesia is largely driven by limitations in contextual interpretation and implementation of Islamic political jurisprudence. Therefore, a reconstruction of fiqh siyasah grounded in maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah is essential to strengthen minority protection and promote inclusive public policies. This study concludes that contemporary fiqh siyasah can serve as a normative and ethical framework for fostering inclusive, just, and sustainable governance in Indonesia. Abstract

Medan City Regulation Number 10 of 2021 concerning Public Order and Peace is an effort by the local government to regulate public spaces, particularly regarding the activities of street vendors and car washers. However, its implementation still faces structural and cultural obstacles, such as low legal awareness and community economic factors. These problems indicate that public order issues are not only juridical but also social, thus requiring a legal sociology study to assess the effectiveness of the regulation and a siyasah industrial perspective to test its compliance with the principles of justice and public welfare. This research is a non-doctrinal legal research using an empirical (empirical juridical) approach that produces descriptive data through data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources obtained are primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained directly from informants through interviews, namely Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), street vendors, car washers, and motorists at the research location, while secondary data was obtained from relevant references, including fiqh siyasah books, books, and journals. The study results show that the implementation of Medan City Regulation No. 10 of 2021 regarding street vendors and car washers has not been effective. The main obstacles lie in uneven communication due to the mobility of targets and a rigid bureaucratic structure with strict SOPs that limit the actions of officers. Public legal awareness also remains low, characterized by limited understanding and situational compliance. From a siyasa industrial perspective, this policy aims to establish order and public welfare, but its implementation requires a balance between legal firmness and the protection of community economic rights. Abstract

The prohibition of riba constitutes a fundamental principle in Islamic economic thought, extending beyond apurely normative-religious injunction to encompass structural implications for economic stability. Thisstudy aims to examine the prohibition of riba from the perspective of fiqh muʿāmalah and to analyze itsrelevance to macroeconomic stability. Employing a normative qualitative approach, this research is based onlibrary research that analyzes primary sources, including the Qur’an and Hadith, as well as secondarysources such as classical and contemporary works on fiqh muʿāmalah, Islamic economics, and macroeconomictheory. The findings indicate that riba is conceptualized in Islamic jurisprudence as an unjust economicpractice that separates profit from risk and productive activity. From a macroeconomic perspective, interest-based systems tend to encourage excessive debt accumulation, financial speculation, and structural imbalances between the financial and real sectors, thereby increasing vulnerability to economic crises. Incontrast, the Islamic economic system, which prohibits riba and emphasizes profit-and-loss sharingmechanisms, promotes risk sharing, asset-backed financing, and stronger linkages to the real economy. This study concludes that the prohibition of riba possesses strong economic rationality and is closely alignedwith efforts to maintain macroeconomic stability and distributive justice. By integrating fiqh-based analysiswith macroeconomic theory, this research demonstrates that Islamic economic principles offer a conceptuallyviable alternative for addressing contemporary global economic instability. The study contributes to thetheoretical development of Islamic economics and provides policy-relevant insights for the advancement of amore stable and equitable financial system. Keywords: riba, Islamic economics, fiqh muʿāmalah, macroeconomic stability, risk sharing.
