Abstract

This discussion focused on the participation of first-time Indonesian voters abroad, particularly in Spain, in the 2024 general election. These voters hold great potential to shape the political and policy direction of their home country but face challenges such as limited access to information and a lack of understanding of domestic politics. To address these issues, a community service program was implemented to provide targeted political education, leverage technology and social media, and foster collaboration with local Indonesian communities. The program's methods included a series of online workshops, informative social media campaigns, and partnerships with local organizations to enhance political literacy. The results of the program demonstrated a significant improvement in voter knowledge and engagement, with a marked increase in voter registration and political awareness among first-time voters compared to pre-program levels. This effort aims to ensure that the voices of all Indonesian citizens, regardless of location, are heard and contribute to the democratic process, ultimately strengthening Indonesia's democracy.

Abstract

The current community service aims at socializing and introducing how Duolingo and Busuu applications were used in English learning. This activity was undertaken in a Junior High School at the border area between Indonesia and Timor Leste, SMPN Napan grade IXA. The problem to be addressed in this activity was the absence on the use of English applications to support the learning. This fact was supported by observation result in which the English learning focus only on the use of some textbooks. The method comprises 3 stages: informing how to operate Duolingo and Busuu applications to the students, executing the English learning process supported by Duolingo and Busuu applications, and checking the students’ understanding on the use of both applications. The outcome of the community service pinpointed that the students were very enthusiastic when they operated those applications. Moreover, the interesting design of those applications encouraged the students to complete exercises in the applications. The class atmosphere was becoming more alive even though the learning process was done at noon or in the afternoon.

Abstract

Law Number 41 of 2004 on Waqf defines waqf as an act in which the wakif separates or transfers part of his assets for the purposes of worship and/or public welfare in accordance with Sharia principles. Cash waqf, as a form of waqf, allows the wakif to entrust a certain amount of funds to the nadzir, who is tasked with managing them productively for the benefit of the mauquf alaih. Aisyiyah, a leading organisation in the religious, educational, social, and health fields, has become one of the main recipients of cash waqf in Indonesia. This organisation, in collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, initiated a program to increase public understanding of the law and concept of cash waqf. This program consists of lectures, studies, and discussions involving up to 50 participants, with the ultimate goal of spreading awareness through scientific publications, mass media, and educational videos. Post-program evaluation showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of legal aspects, basic concepts, and cash waqf management mechanisms in accordance with the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). These findings confirm the effectiveness of the program in increasing cash waqf literacy, as well as having the potential to encourage more optimal waqf management in society.

Abstract

Various factors cause stunting in children, one of which is the mother’s malnutrition during pregnancy. Mothers who have Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) and anemia have a high potential of giving birth to children prone to stunting. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women and increase the role of the family in preventing CED and anemia in pregnant women in the Sekaran Puskesmas area by developing a class program for pregnant women, making pocketbooks, and supporting educational media. The applied methods were assistance and counseling for pregnant women and parents, education for pregnant women and companions, anthropometry training for cadres and TPK, preparation of e-booklet media for pregnant women, and cooking demos for healthy menus for pregnant women. The results of this activity showed an increase in knowledge based on the pre-test results of pregnant women <80 by 27.3% and scores >80 by 72.7%. After carrying out the posttest, 100% of participants obtained >80 scores. This shows an increase in the incidence of CED and anemia in pregnant women. In the pre-test results for pregnant women’s companions, 10% of the results were obtained with a score of <80 and a score of >80 of 90%. After carrying out the post-test, all participants had >80 scores. Accordingly, Family Empowerment activities for pregnant women with CED and anemia can increase the knowledge of pregnant women and their companions regarding the handling and prevention of CED and anemia. Abstract

The approach, strategy, innovation, and collaboration of educators are vital to improving student competency in the era of global communication. One of the challenges students face in Indonesia is mastering English and Arabic. Community Service at MIM, AKA Mojogedang, Karanganyar, aims to improve the vocabulary of both languages through direct practice guided by native speakers from Yemen. As a result, students' English skills increased from 55% to 80%, while Arabic skills increased from 60% to 86%. This increase is significant because the interactive and direct learning approach does not only focus on theory. Through the development of continuous approaches and collaboration, this learning forms students who are more holistically competent and ready to face the challenges of global communication. This progressive and moderate education can equip students with essential skills in modern computing.
