Abstract

The dengue virus that causes dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is spread by the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between physical conditions of the home and behavior with the incidence of dengue fever. This research is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional research design. Data collection was conducted from May to June 2024. The population in this study was all residents in the Sei Langkai Community Health Center Working Area in 2024. In this study, there were 183 respondents using questionnaires and observation sheets conducted through interviews and observations. The sampling technique in the study used simple random sampling. The statistical test used was the chi-square test. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately. The results of this study indicate a relationship between ventilation with wire mesh (p value = 0.046) and water reservoirs (p value = 0.046) with the incidence of dengue fever. Meanwhile, room lighting (p value = 0.814), residential density (p value = 0.063), the habit of hanging clothes (p value = 0.063) and the habit of using anti-mosquito lotion (p value = 0.249) are not related to the incidence of dengue fever. The conclusion of the study of the physical condition of the house (ventilation with wire mesh) and breeding places (water reservoirs) has a significant relationship with the incidence of DHF in the Sei Langkai Community Health Center Work Area in 2024. Suggestions to the community are to always clean places that can hold water by implementing 3M Plus covering, draining and burying and recycling.

Abstract

Efforts have been made by the Kadatua Timur Health Center to implement stunting prevention by providing iron tablets to young girls in 5 villages within the local health center's working area. A study was conducted to assess the rationality of providing and using iron tablets, taking into account variables such as the right patient, right diagnosis, right drug selection, right dose, right method of use, and right interval. The study involved structured interviews with 22 female adolescent respondents and 3 health workers. The data obtained confirmed that iron tablets were provided rationally to female adolescent patients aged 12-18 years, with the right diagnosis and without thalassemia, the right drug selection and dose (ferrous fumarate equivalent to Fe 60 mg, folic acid 0.4 mg), the right method of use, and the right interval of use (once a week). Based on these findings, it was concluded that the Kadatua Timur PKM has provided iron tablets rationally according to existing policies.

Abstract

The double burden in the development of Indonesia’s health sector consists of communicable diseases and degenerative diseases. Communicable diseases are difficult to eradicate because their transmission is not limited by administrative boundaries. One of the most cost-effective preventive measures to limit the spread of diseases to other regions is immunization. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of an immunization education intervention on mothers’ knowledge regarding complete basic immunization in Lubuk Siam Village. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test–post-test method. The study population consisted of 152 mothers with children under five, from which 30 respondents were selected as the sample. The results showed a significant difference in knowledge between pre-test and post-test scores, with a statistical test result of p = 0.015. The Wilcoxon test indicated that the educational intervention was effective in improving mothers’ knowledge about complete basic immunization. It is recommended that Lubuk Siam Village integrate immunization education into routine posyandu (integrated health post) programs and involve community leaders as well as local government in supporting the sustainability of the immunization program.

Abstract

Dengue fever (DF) is a significant global health burden with steadily increasing incidence, especially in Indonesia, which reported 88.593 cases from January until May 2024. School-aged children constitute a key population, as the school environment effective setting for implementing prevention and control programs. This systematic review aims to compare the effectiveness of video-based education with conventional teaching methods in improving knowledge, attitudes, and preventive practices (KAP) related to dengue fever among school children. The review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, with searches performed across seven major databases between March and April 2025. Inclusion criteria were developed using the PICO framework, encompassing quantitative studies involving children aged 12–15 years who received video-based dengue prevention education. Seven studies met the criteria, comprising seven quasi-experimental designs, all of which were appraised using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist. The findings demonstrate that video-based educational interventions consistently improve children’s KAP regarding dengue prevention. These results provide an important foundation for community health nursing practice, highlighting the potential of video media as an effective educational tool in dengue prevention efforts. Future research should employ cluster RCT designs with extended follow-up periods and objective behavioral measurements to capture sustained behavioral change. The application of theoretical frameworks, such as the Health Promotion Model, should be emphasized to clarify the mechanisms underlying behavior change. Multisite studies that incorporate social support from teachers, parents, and peers are also needed to enhance the generalizability and sustainability of dengue prevention interventions.

Abstract

Produced water is the main waste generated from oil and gas exploration and production activities, containing hazardous organic and inorganic compounds such as phenol, ammonia, sulfide, as well as oil and grease, which have the potential to pollute the environment and pose risks to occupational health and safety (OHS), particularly from exposure to H₂S and ammonia gases. This study employed an experimental design through laboratory testing and pilot-plant simulation, comprising aeration, coagulation–flocculation, biological aeration, and filtration processes at the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of PT XYZ in Indramayu. Samples were collected from the WWTP inlet and outlet using the composite sampling method over a four-month period (April–August 2025), totaling 153 samples with triplicate tests for each parameter, including temperature, pH, oil and grease, COD, phenol, sulfide, and ammonia, in accordance with APHA (2017) standards. The results showed that the hybrid system reduced oil and grease, COD, phenol, and ammonia by more than 80%, and sulfide by more than 70%, indicating that the effluent met the quality standards set by the Ministry of Environment Regulation No. 19 of 2010. The application of hybrid technology proved to be technically effective, operationally safe, and contributed to mitigating OHS risks and supporting environmental sustainability in the upstream oil and gas industry. Further research is recommended to focus on a more detailed analysis of additional parameters such as heavy metals (Hg, Pb, Cd) and organic micro-pollutants to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the system’s effectiveness and potential environmental impacts.
